Dressed in matching black T-shirts and jeans, Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaalstrolled hand-in-hand and smooched at Los Angeles International Airport October 22, new photos of the on-again duo reveal.
The pair had been returning from Rome, where they were promoting their new film Rendition. On October 19, Witherspoon, 31, was spotted resting her head on Gyllenhaal’s shoulder while walking through the streets as they enjoyed some downtime.
Looks like the couple may need to start comforting each other even more: Their buzzed-about CIA thriller bombed at the bomb office, coming in at No. 9 with $4.2 million.

Although we won’t be seeing his pal Jake Gyllenhaal, 26, Heath Ledger, 28, is currently in negotiations to reprise his role as Ennis. “It will follow the nasty process of being openly gay in 1963 Wyoming, an insider tells OK!. “Ennis will finally come out of the closet.”
We hope the Ennis realizes he’s in the wrong profession: He could be the cowboy from the Village People. He’s got the outfit already, hasn’t he?
Natalie Portman has signed on to star alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire in the love-triangle drama Brothers. Based on a 2004 Danish-language film, the story centers on a man (Maguire) who is sent to fight in Afghanistan while his black-sheep brother (Gyllenhaal) cares for his wife (Portman). David Benioff, husband of Amanda Peet, is penning the remake. Portman will appear in the upcoming films Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, The Other Boleyn Girl, and My Blueberry Nights.

I’m a big fan of Reese and Jake together. I have no idea why, I just am. I think it’s because I feel like they are similar and they are so darn cute together. According to some, Reese and Jake were “caught” spending some quality time together at the concert of Rufus Wainwright who sang a collection of Judy Garland songs. Apparently, Jake and Reese were together and Jake’s family was also in attendance. NICE!
It’s no secret Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal aren’t into PDA. But their behavior at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7 was cold even for them. There’s good reason: After six months of on-and-off dating, the pair are kaput. “This is the harshest split they’ve had,” a source tells Us. “Reese told Jake it’s best they don’t talk at all.”
Indeed, the costars stood apart and rarely made eye contact at the Rendition press conference. They remained distant at the afterparty, where Witherspoon kept to herself and Gyllenhaal chatted with his mom and costar Peter Sarsgaard (sister Maggie’s beau). But by 11 p.m., when they hit the fete for George Clooney’s movie Michael Clayton, the frostiness melted: “They seemed like a couple,” an eyewitness tells Us. “Reese was happy and having a good time.”
But the next morning, they left Toronto separately. She headed to L.A.; he flew to NYC.
Is it over for good? “They’re a rocky couple,” says one insider. “It would not be a shock if they got back together.”
