Man From U.N.C.L.E. persuaded Jack Nicholson not to quit acting

Jack Nicholson

Jack Nicholson almost turned his back on an acting career during his youth after suffering a loss of confidence, according to his pal Robert Vaughn.

The Shining actor became so frustrated while rehearsing scenes with Vaughn in a mid-1950s acting class, he considered embarking on a different career path.

But, in his upcoming memoir, A Fortunate Life, Vaughn reveals he managed to persuade Nicholson to change his mind.

Vaughn writes, “He declared, `Vaughnie, I’m going to give myself two more years in this business. Then I’m going to look for another way to make a living.’ ‘Hang in there, Jack,’ I told him. ‘You’re too young to quit.’”

Nicholson took the advice, finally “figured out how to do this thing called acting”, and shot to fame in 1969’s Easy Rider.

Debra Winger’s memoir alleges Jack Nicholson liked prostitutes

Jack Nicholson

Jack Nicholson’s alleged penchant for prostitutes has been outed in former co-star Debra Winger’s new autobiography Undiscovered.

Winger joined Nicholson on the big screen in 1983 Oscar-winning movie Terms of Endearment, co-starring Danny DeVito and Shirley MacLaine.

And among her own intimate revelations, the actress recalls a shocking encounter with Nicholson after the pair landed in Germany to promote the movie.

She writes, “I had never been there (to Germany) and was relentlessly joking with Jack (Nicholson) about how I, as a Jew, would be treated. He finally told me to stop, that these paranoid fantasies had little to do with modern Germany and that I should relax and enjoy the trip - and perhaps join him on his search for the perfect brothel.”
Winger’s book - her first - is slated for release next month.

Jack Nicholson backs Clinton & Scarlett Johansson sings for Obama

Jack Nicholson

As that “great determinator” Super Tuesday quickly draws near, some new high-powered celebrity endorsements – as well as additional bolstering by loyal top-name supporters – are adding further rhetoric to the race.

Among the latest names to rally ’round a hopeful is Jack Nicholson, who on Monday revealed his support of Democrat Hillary Clinton on the Rick Dees in the Morning Show on Los Angeles’s Movin’ 93.9 FM.

Nicholson’s move, which puts him in the same league as longtime Clinton boosters Barbra Streisand and Danny DeVito, follows Sunday’s appearance by Oprah Winfrey at a Los Angeles rally for Barack Obama. (Also over the weekend, celebs including Scarlett Johansson lent their singing voices to “Yes, We Can,” a YouTube music video, supporting Obama.)

Jack Nicholson

Jack Nicholson, as seen here, leaving the Ivy in London today. Doesn’t he look just about the same in every picture he’s in? Always smoking or smiling, or both.
