Jack Black fears presidential candidate Barack Obama will pull the plug on his band’s upcoming campaign trail benefit concert when the Senator realizes they’ve cursed every other politician they’ve supported.

Black admits he and Tenacious D bandmate Kyle Gass don’t have a very good track record when it comes to supporting high-profile political figures.

He tells WENN, “We’re going to do an Obama benefit on the 23rd of September at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles. He’s the better candidate and more in line with our views… I’m just a liberal guy. We’ve been doing political benefits for years and it’s an endorsement. I did it for (Senator) John Kerry and that didn’t work. We’ve supported lots of different causes; tried to legalize weed and that didn’t work. You just keep on chugging away trying to do what you think is good. Maybe Obama is gonna say ‘Do me a favor, don’t do a benefit for me,’ since we’ve effectively killed all the campaigns we’ve taken part in.”

Jack Black suffered through new movie Tropic Thunder with bruised ribs – but the pain was nothing compared to the fear of an arthropod attack.

The funnyman admits stories of a killer, man-eating centipede led to many nervous hours as Black and his castmates and crew waded through the jungles of Hawaii, where the film was shot.

He admits, “There are creepy crawlies in there and apparently they got real dangerous centipedes. You think it’s gonna be a fun video game but real centipedes, if they bite you, it’s like getting shot with a bullet; it’s that painful! You can try to control the jungle but no one could clear all the centipedes. The nooks and crannies, where they hide, are impossible to find.”

But at least his centipede fear took his mind off his breathing troubles on the set.

Black explains, “On the very first day of shooting I was carrying the biggest gun and I had to be running, shooting, diving with the gun and I landed funny on the gun and I heard something pop. I bruised my rib and you know how that goes; if you get a rib bruise it lasts for about six weeks of not being able to breathe all the way in. It’s such a drag.”

Jack Black will return to the classroom for a sequel to School of Rock, it has been confirmed.

Paramount Pictures is developing a sequel to its 2003 hit, with Black, director Richard Linklater and producer Scott Rudin all attached to eturn.

And Mike White, who penned the screenplay for the musical comedy, will write the script for the follow-up, School of Rock 2: America Rocks.

Black was nominated for a Golden Globe and won a MTV Movie award for his role as aspiring rock star and substitute teacher Dewey Finn, who capitalizes on his discovery of a class of musically-brilliant prep school children to enter a ‘Battle of the Bands’ contest.

And following the huge success of the first film, which cost just $30 million to make and grossed $131 million worldwide, Black revealed earlier this year he was keen to revisit the role.

“I’d really like to do it, the last one was great,” he said while promoting Kung Fu Panda at the Cannes film festival.

“We are seriously thinking about it, there’s already a script. In a few weeks we have to decide if we go through with the project or not.”

And Paramount Pictures has evidently convinced the team to return to rock school with the sequel set to find Finn taking a group of summer school students on a roadtrip across America, discovering the history of rock, rap, blues and country, among other genres.

Black can next be seen alongside Ben Stiller and Robert Downey Jr in Tropic Thunder, released on September 19th.

A late-night shopping trip fuelled by heroin made Jack Black realize the drug wasn’t for him.

The School of Rock star insists he only tried the hard drug once after failing to throw a small amount an acquaintance gave him away.

Black made sure his then-girlfriend was with him when he experimented one night.

He tells Blender magazine, “It didn’t agree with me. I couldn’t really feel my legs, and my heart felt like it was slowing down too much. I thought, ‘Oh my God, it’s going to shut me down. I’m going to die.’ I went down to the 7-Eleven at the bottom of the hill, and I had this strange sensation that my legs were pumping, but the feet were just sort of lifeless stumps. I did a little shopping and then walked back up the hill and survived. And never did it again.”

Funnyman Jack Black is so concerned his movie career may run dry – he keeps his old bedroom ready in case he falls on hard times.

The Kung Fu Panda star struggled to make a name for himself in showbusiness, relying on his mother’s hospitality so he could pursue his career as an actor.

And despite commanding millions to star in films, he always has a place at his parents just to be safe.

He says, “I started working in movies in 1991 and did nine years of treading water with small parts, going back and living at my mom’s house rather than getting a real job. But once I got High Fidelity in 2000, things got pretty good. I don’t live at my mom’s any more – she still keeps my room ready, just in case.

Comedian Jack Black has finally quit smoking – crediting his busy family life with helping him to kick the habit.

The King Kong star and his wife Tanya recently celebrated the birth of their second son Thomas Black, and he admits he is so comfortable living a quiet family life, he has left his wild ways – and his nicotine addiction – well and truly behind him.

He tells Britain’s Closer magazine, “That’s all come to a halt, with marriage and fatherhood. I don’t have the energy! So if people stop me and say, ‘Let’s party, dude, I’ve got beer’, I never know how to reply! I’ve started going to bed at a reasonable hour. And, after more than 10 years of promising I would quit smoking, I’ve finally done so.”
