‘The Hunger Games‘ has only been open for a few days, but the team is already prepping for the sequel ‘Catching Fire‘.  Director Gary Ross dished on his plans for the next installment:

Warning: mild spoilers if you haven’t read the books!!

“The arena in the second book is tropical and the arena in [the first] book is forests, so that in and of itself will make for a different wardrobe on the part of the crew.

“In terms of the cinematic differences in the way I might shoot the movie, I shot this in a very specific way that’s very different than most franchises are shot, obviously, and that had a lot to do with the urgency of what’s going on and Katniss’ point of view,” he continued. “I have some ideas about how to do ‘Catching Fire’ slightly differently, but I don’t want to share them yet. Not because I’m being evasive, but just because they’re not fully baked. But yes, I think it will look and feel slightly different from the first.”

The next movie will start filming in Fall and is due out in November of 2013.  That feels TOO far away, doesn’t it?  But that’s the price we pay if you want a GOOD film, right?!

Jennifer Lawrence (star of the upcoming film ‘The Hunger Games‘) sat down with Glamour Magazine for their April issue to talk Katniss, dieting, and $6 Snickers bars.

Her first thoughts about The Hunger Games being turned into a movie:
“When I heard they were making the movie, I was like, ‘oh, that’s nice –they’re going to ruin another great book.’ But then I met Gary [Ross, the director], and he was unbelievable and brilliant and genius.”

On taking on the role of Katniss in The Hunger Games:

“I gave myself three days. I knew from reading the books that I loved The Hunger Games. I just didn’t know if it was worth changing my life for. I’m at a peaceful place right now. The people who used to ignore me at parties, now they’re nice to me and kissing my ass. But nobody’s staked outside my house. I wanted to make sure that when I said yes, I wouldn’t regret it. And I don’t regret it. I would have said no because I was scared, and then I would have been that bitter actress telling my grandkids, ‘I’m the one that turned it down.’”

On getting in shape and dieting:

“I hate saying,  ‘I like exercising.’ I want to punch people who say that in the face. But it’s nice being in shape for a movie, because they basically do it all for you. It’s like, ‘Here’s your trainer. This is what you can eat.’”  “I don’t diet. I do exercise! But I don’t diet. You can’t work when you’re hungry, you know?”

On adjusting to her life as a famous actress:
“Just recently I started letting myself eat things from the minibar. When we were kids, we would never open the minibar. A $6 Snickers bar? But the other day I was in a hotel and I was staring at a Snickers bar, and I finally just ate it. Then it was like something in me snapped. I opened all these drinks. I thought: I can do it now. Now I’m all grown-up. I can eat things from the minibar.”

Her take on life in the public eye:
“In some ways, it’s a hard life, but it’s a great professional life. I’m doing what I love, and then I get months and months of rest. I have a lot of money for a 21-year-old. I can’t stand it when actors complain.”

Only 3 more weeks until ‘The Hunger Games‘ hits theaters.  I hope it’s as huge as they’re predicting!  (and that it’s done WELL!)

Last night at the People’s Choice Awards, ‘The Hunger Games‘ star Josh Hutcherson shared a few insights with Access Hollywood.

When asked about kissing his co-star Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss Everdeen), he said:

“It was good. Jennifer Lawrence is beautiful, so I’m not going to complain. It was good.”

Josh says the set was kept tightly under cover:

“It was a really fun time shooting. They kept a very tight set. They were strict about letting people on and off and they had black curtains up everywhere.   So, they wanted to keep it locked down.”

Josh is hoping to live up to fan expectations:

“They are the most loyal fans that exist, it’s slightly intimidating but very exciting at the same time.  I’m excited about it and very nervous.”
