Heidi Klum hit the red carpet solo (sniff, sniff) but at least she looked beautiful! The ‘Project Runway’ host attended last night’s amAR’s New York Gala to kick of Fall 2012 Fashion Week.

Even though she and husband Seal are going through a split, the “Project Runway” host was still wearing her wedding ring.

According to sources, it was Seal’s temper that finally did their marriage in. Back in January, the couple got into a screaming match and “Heidi told friends that Seal just lost it. He was screaming – and, she said, he pushed her. It was horrible.”

Apparently the security guard at their home had to intervene, and “physically restrain Seal” to get him to calm down.

A new interview has just been released in which Heidi Klum talks about renewing her wedding vows with Seal.

The supermodel gushes about her husband, and admits that their relationship had always been very passionate.

The couple announced their split on January 22, after being married for seven years.

Shortly before announcing their split, Heidi sat down with InStyle. Heidi, 38, told the magazine: “I don’t know why we work, my husband and I. We just do. We are black and white – Yin and Yang. To me, his beautiful face, great body, amazing heart, voice, his ability to be a loving, caring person and father… what can I say? He can be mad too and I have a lot of fun with him. He’s off the cuff. He’s not fixed in his ways. And he knows how to handle me. It’s always been really passionate between us.”

Up until this year, the couple renewed their wedding vows every May 10, their anniversary. “I’m determined to mark our wedding every year with a really great party,” Heidi said. “We all work very hard and time goes by so fast and you can stumble over years without symbolic peaks in your life to remember – so we create those.”

She spoke about first meeting Seal, 48, in 2004, when she was five months pregnant with daughter Leni, whose father is her ex, Formula One manager Flavio Briatore.

‘Yes, we locked eyes and, well… We were immediately attracted to each other. He is a very tall, striking man. Not someone who blends in. He’d come into the hotel from the gym and he was sweaty and wanted to take a shower. I said “No, stay with me. I don’t mind”. And he said “No, but I’ll be back”.

‘And he did go to his room. And he did come back. And knowing him now, he was very fast and he’s a man who usually really takes his time. So now, I know he really wanted to come back to me.’

She said her husband insisted on the family having bodyguards 24/7, especially when he was away.

‘That’s something my husband insists upon; especially when he’s away. He says “If I can’t be there to protect you, I have to have another man who can”.

‘Seal and I do have a bottom line and that’s to protect the kids. Our bodyguards are with them today, for example, because we’re both working. We don’t want the children to be part of this madness. It’s bad enough when he and I go anywhere. I don’t want to push or put any of this on them. They’ll find their own way.’

Heidi, who was previously married to hairdresser Ric Pipino for five years, spoke for the first time since the split, thanking her fans on Twitter this week.

She said: ”Hi everyone, I want to thank u for all your support & kind words.Really means so much. Thanks again…to the best fans in the world! xoHeidi’

Gotta love these interviews that come out after the split is announced. It gives a little insight into the celebrity mind! She had to have known at this point that things weren’t working out with Seal, and yet she gives a glowing interview.

Since Heidi Klum and Seal announced they were separating, Seal has been the only one speaking. He went on Ellen and opened up about how much he loves Heidi, and was still open to a reconciliation. Now, Heidi has broken her silence.

Even though the couple are splitting, it seems to be very amicable. They have both been photographed individually wearing their wedding bands. Their announcement that they were splitting came as a shock to most of us! The statement read: “While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul searching we have decided to separate,” the couple’s previous statement read. “We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition. We thank our family, friends, and fans for their kind words of support. And for our children’s sake, we appreciate you respecting our privacy.”

According to People, the couple’s troubled marriage was further heightened during a December trip to Aspen — a getaway that reportedly led them to finally pull the plug on their union.

Inside Heidi Klum’s “private hell” landed the cover of US Weekly this week. While People already touched on most of this information, US Weekly is turning to their “insiders” for more insight. They too claim that Seal’s temper is what drove them apart – coupled with Heidi’s career exploding and taking her away from home a lot.

Heidi Klum sat across from her husband, Seal, the day after Christmas, lunching with their foud children at the Buttermilk ski area, where the couple had rented a house for the holidays. “They didn’t speak to each other the entire time – for at least 45 minutes,” says a fellow guest. “You could tell there was a lot of tension between them.”

Perhaps there was nothing left to say. For all of their public displays of intense affect… the couple were privately grappling with marriage-breaking issues. Among them: Seal’s mood swings and his jealously about Klum’s skyrocketing career. “They had a rough road lately,” says a source close to the pair. They were so in love that they wanted to get married over and over again, but there were dark moments they didn’t want to expose to the public…”

While Klum, 38, and her 48-year-old husband were in Aspen for the holidays, all of their issues came to a head. “Aspen didn’t go well,” says another confidant. “They fought a lot it was a very hard trip.”

Klum has admitted to having “ups and downs with Seal,” says another Klum source. “They were the kind of couple who could have a huge fight over an order at Nobu.” Adds another, “They just have a very tempestuous love. They’re either madly in love or having crazy fights…”

They’re so different
At the root of the blowups: the fact that they are two fundamentally different people. “She’s an upbeat, happy person,” says one friend. “He comes from a very troubled, sad background. It’s what makes him a very difficult person to be married to.” The London-bred singer was initially raised by a foster family, and a battle with discoid lupus left his facial scars. “He’s had a sad life,” says the confidant, adding that he grew up to become “volatile and moody.”

At times, his temper flared, according to sources. “He is not a nice person,” says one source, who claims that Seal “would often talk down to Heidi in public. He spoke to her at business functions like she was the help. It was so degrading.” When Seal felt she was holding court at a Victoria’s Secret show, says the source, he became incensed at the attention. “He was yelling at her for doing press and saying that she needed to calm down and why does she need to be in the spotlight all the time?” And as demands on her time increased, he seemed to want to make all the choices for her…

When he turned his focus onto his own career and began to tour heavily, Klum was left to watch the children – Leni, 7, Henri, 6, Johan, 5, and Lous, 2 – all alone in the months leading up to the blowouts in Aspen. [Ed note: 3 nannies isn't exactly "all alone."] “He’d been away for months and months on tour.”

Says a source close to Seal. “He tours, too, but most of the time he was home with his family while she worked.

“It’s hard to make a marriage work when one parent is with the kids most of the time. They always took turns and it led to separate lives…”

For now, as they decide whether to officially file for divorce, both Seal and Klum are taking the high road in public.

While Heidi has remained quite through all of this, Seal has not. First he went on Ellen and talked about how much he loves Heidi. Tuesday night he appeared on Piers Morgan, where he told the host a reconciliation with Heidi “is possible”.

“It may happen, I can’t speak for her,” Seal, 48, said Tuesday. “Is it irreparable? You can never say never. The thing I love most about us is that we are a team … that won’t change, whether we get back together or not.”

However, he did say he didn’t know if he wanted to work things out right now. “If it were that easy — if there weren’t problems, we’d still be together. That is the reality.”

Seal and Klum, 38, announced Sunday they were separating after eight years of marriage. The couple, who famously renewed their vows every year, have three children together: Henry, 6, Johan, 5, and Lou, 2. (Klum’s oldest daughter, 7-year-old Leni, is from a previous relationship).”My love for her has not waned one iota,” he said. “I love her with all my heart. How can you not love somebody [who] you’ve spent eight years with?”

Despite their estrangement, Seal has continued to wear his wedding ring in interviews and other appearances, something he insists is not for show.”I’m still wearing my wedding ring because I’m still married to this incredible woman,” he said. “What this means to me and what it stands for [is] respect, it stands for loyalty, it stands for incredible memories, and it stands for these four little miracles — and Heidi, making five — that have come into my life.”

I really hope they can work it out – I just love them together. Take in some anger management classes or something!

Singer-songwriter Seal makes his first television appearance since the announcement of the separation from wife, Heidi Klum on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Tuesday, January 24th. Ellen talks with Seal about the separation and why he is still wearing his wedding ring.

On his split from Heidi Klum:

ELLEN:
I think it’s a very very hard thing to be in a relationship and working on a relationship and have a family and have kids and have two huge careers and a lot going on, and to be in the public eye. I think a lot of people have seen many pictures of you and Heidi. I think it was surprise to a lot of people. That’s got to be a hard thing when people don’t really know and I think people were just shocked.

SEAL:
I think so too and you can include us in that. I think we were shocked. You go into these things with the greatest intentions when you say “I do” and you say “’til death do us part.” Those vows hold value. They are not just words. These things happen. We pretty much said how we feel and made it clear in the release statement. But, for intensive purposes of this show, you just grow apart after awhile. You try and you work through it and the thing that you quickly realize when you are married and you become a parent you do the best that you can. It makes you actually appreciate your parents a lot more. The thing that I’m most proud about this great woman who married (and I really do mean that from the bottom of my heart), is that together she has given me four incredible gifts…four beautiful children. She still, in my opinion, the most wonderful woman in the world. I think our priority was to remain civil and do this thing with dignity. We still very much love each other. It’s not a question of we were never to follow suit of some break-up or separations that you hear about, especially in our industry. It’s a shame. To say that neither of us were grieving would be an out and out lie (and I don’t mind telling you that). I think the operative here is that we are civil to each other and we both have a tremendous amount of respect and love and we try and do this with as much dignity as we possibly can. And of course, when you have four children,you hope and pray that the rest of the world will respect that we have four children and that their little hearts are at stake too.

ELLEN:
That must be hard for them. I still notice you’re still wearing your ring. (Is that, it’s an interesting) It’s a beautiful ring…

SEAL:
Yes, I am still wearing my ring. I think it’s just pretty much a token of how I feel about this woman. We have eight years. Eight wonderful years together. Just because we have decided to separate doesn’t necessarily mean you take off your ring and you’re no longer connected to that person. We will be connected in many ways ‘til the rest of our lives…. though our children and also through this tremendous admiration, respect and love that we have for each other. Will we wear the ring for the rest of our lives? Who knows? But right now it feels really comfortable on my hand so I have intentions of taking it off anytime soon.

I want them to work it out and stay together! I hate the thought of them splitting. When some people split – it comes as no surprise. (Like if Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis actually split – I probably won’t think much of it.) But Heidi and Seal? It shouldn’t be happening I tell ya!

PS: I think it’s very commendable that Seal honored his commitment and still went on the Ellen Show. He was scheduled to appear before Heidi announced the split, and it would have been very easy for him to bail. But he didn’t!
