Heather Mills is following through on her promise to move to Los Angeles – the former glamor model has been spotted house-hunting in California.
Mills won a $50 million divorce settlement from former Beatle Paul MCCartney and was recently rumored to have purchased a luxurious apartment in New York.
The 40-year-old also announced her ambition to own a home in L.A. despite previously stating a permanent move to America would be impossible.
Mills claims she has to stay in Britain to allow McCartney access to their four-year-old daughter Beatrice.
A source tells New York Post gossip column PageSix that Mills is serious about buying property in L.A.: “She’s with Prudential Realty and is giving them a really hard time, because she will only pay $1 million and refuses to budge. They’ve been showing her places for $1.1 million or $1.2 and she’ll get mad, telling them, ‘I said $1 million and not over.’
A spokeswoman for Mills said she had “no idea” her client had been house-hunting.

Heather Mills has settled a long-running privacy claim against a British newspaper, after she launched action against the publication for leaking details of her divorce to Paul Mccartney.
The former model filed the claim against Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper in 2006 after it published the private details.
Mills also filed claims of libel against two other British newspapers – London’s Evening Standard and The Sun.
According to an agreed statement between Mills’ legal team and three U.K. publications, the claims have now been settled “on terms satisfactory to the parties”.
The statement adds, “The terms of the settlement remain confidential and the parties, along with Paul McCartney, will be making no further public statement.”
McCartney and Mills reached a divorce settlement in March when a London court awarded Mills $48.6 million.
The marriage was noted as officially over on Monday when a judge at the High Court in London granted a decree nisi.
The pair began their divorce proceedings in 2006 after they split in May of the same year. They have joint-custody of their four-year-old daughter, Beatrice.

And, no, it’s not Paul McCartney.
Heather Mills is reportedly saying that she wants a house in every city that Paul has. She wants to continue to live the life of luxury that her and Paul once shared, so she’s searching for homes in New York and L.A.
A source said: “Heather says that everywhere in the world Paul has a house, she wants a house.
“She said wherever Paul is, she wants to be there for daughter Beatrice.
“And Bea should have the same life with her as with Paul.
“Heather says that she wants the country house, one in London, one in New York, one in LA – even one in the Hamptons.”
I guess she forgot what she said about donating some of her divorce settlement to charity, huh?

Paul McCartney’s ex-wife Heather Mills has denied she is currently house-hunting in New York, insisting she doesn’t have enough money to buy a home there.
The former glamor model won a $50 million divorce settlement from the former Beatle last month and has since spent time in the U.S. judging the Miss USA beauty pageant, fitting in a visit to the Big Apple during the same trip. And Mills was reported to be viewing properties in the prestigious Greenwich Village area of the city. But now the 40-year-old’s representative Michelle Elyzabeth has hit back at the rumors – declaring that Mills can’t afford a New York home.
She says, “She doesn’t have that much money. It’s a lot of money to a regular person, but once you want to start supporting good causes, that money goes really quick.”

Heather Mills faced a heckling crowd as she was introduced as a judge on the Miss USA 2008 pageant to a loud chorus of boos.
The former model made her first public appearance since her $50 million divorce settlement from the former Beatle last month at the live TV contest which was held in Las Vegas on Friday night. And the audience at the Planet Hollywood Hotel, on the city’s famous strip, gave Mills a frosty reception, greeting her with boos and jeers as she took to the stage with hosts Donny and Marie Osmond.
But Mills insists she didn’t let the public’s reaction upset her.
She says, “I really enjoyed myself. It was a great contest. If there was some negative reaction, what can you do? There will always be some people like that.”
The judging panel also included comedian Rob Schneider and U.S. Olympic swimmer Amanda Beard.
