Guy Ritchie is praying his next movie RockNRolla turns around his Hollywood fortunes, because he has already written a sequel.
After a string of box office flops, Ritchie is banking on the underworld thriller capturing the imagination of cinema-goers.
It stars Gerard Butler, Thandie Newton and Jeremy Piven, and follows London gangsters fighting for a share of a real estate scam.
Ritchie already has a sequel written and ready to shoot: “I’ve written one. So people better go see it. It’ll allow me to make the next one.”

Filmmaker Guy Ritchie is stunned by the overwhelming love he has for adopted son David Banda – because he didn’t expect to feel such strong emotions.
The Snatch director and his superstar wife Madonna brought the tot back from Malawi in October 2006, and faced a bitter 20-month battle for the adoption to be approved by the African country’s courts.
The adoption of the tot was highly controversial, with the couple attracting accusations that it had bypassed the impoverished nation’s laws that ban non-residents from adopting Malawian children.
But Ritchie insists he and his wife have put the lengthy proceedings behind them, and now Banda is one of the family – just like their biological son Rocco and 11-year-old Lourdes, Madonna’s daughter from a previous relationship.
He says, “Fatherhood is unbelievable. It has taken over my life.
“But something else surprised me – how much you can love an adopted child, the same as you can love a biological child. I didn’t anticipate that.”

Guy Ritchie has admitted a character from his new film RocknRolla is based on Pete Doherty.
When a stolen painting falls into the hands of rock star Johnny Story, (Toby Kebbell), the shambolic musician – who is hiding out in a crack den, having been declared dead – finds himself caught in the middle of a battle between the Russian mob, the established London underworld and its rising tough guys.
And speaking to Empire magazine, Ritchie has revealed that former Libertine Doherty was the inspiration for Kebbell’s character.
“At the time I was writing it, Pete Doherty was everywhere,” he explained. “It’s either genius marketing or a happy – or unhappy – accident. It’s creative self-destruction in the sense that he’s doing it creatively.”
He continued: “I think what we all like is someone who fell and then stood up again. And that’s probably the story with Pete Doherty. There seems to be an implication that people want to see him jump. But at the same time there’s a desire to see the likes of him being reborn.”
RocknRolla - which Ritchie has described as looking at “old school gangsters getting pushed out by the new school” – is released on September 5th.

Madonna’s publicist has shot down reports the pop star and husband Guy Ritchie are planning to renew their wedding vows.
An article in British tabloid The Sun suggested the couple will remarry in a Kabbalah ceremony next month, which will coincide with Madonna’s 50th birthday celebrations.
But the singer’s longtime publicist Liz Rosenberg insists the story is bogus.
She says, “It’s complete fiction.”

Madonna and her filmmaker husband Guy Ritchie are planning to renew their wedding vows in a Kabbalah ceremony next month, according to London reports.
Despite claims the couple’s marriage is on the rocks, Madonna and Ritchie will host a Shabbat Nachamu event to show family and friends they are still very much a couple.
A source tells The Sun newspaper. “It’s a very important dinner for them – they want everyone to know they are still in love.”
The special ceremony will reportedly take place at the celebrity couple’s British country estate, with two rabbis flying in from New York to officiate.
The event will coincide with the celebration of the pop star’s 50th birthday, according to the publication. Madonna turns 50 on August 16th.

British actor Toby Kebbell was pleasantly surprised by director Guy Ritchie’s kindhearted personality when they teamed up to shoot new movie Rocknrolla – because he expected the filmmaker to be egotistical and hot-tempered.
Kebbell, who stars alongside Gerard Butler, Thandie Newton and Jeremy Piven in the upcoming action movie, was terrified about working under Ritchie’s guidance because of what he’d heard about the star and his wife Madonna in the tabloids.
But he admits Ritchie was nothing like what he expected.
He says, “I’m not a big one for reading up on the lives of others in magazines, but you sometimes form an idea and I have to say when I turned up in London, I really didn’t expect to become friends with Guy Ritchie. But I did; he’s a really funny, great personality, but no ego. It was never about, ‘Just because I say so.’ He was incredibly open to other ideas as long as they were right for the film. And very even-tempered, you know – he never spoke a bad or a harsh word to anybody. I really like that.”

Guy Ritchie plans to concentrate on his career – and has vowed to be “very busy” over the next five years.
The Snatch director, who is reportedly experiencing marriage difficulties with wife Madonna, signed on to write and direct a new movie about fictional detective Sherlock Holmes last month.
And that is one of many projects the director has in the pipeline.
He tells British newspaper the Daily Express, “It’s my intention to be very busy over the next five years. (And) I think we probably have five or six projects that we’re pretty sure we’re going to make. I kind of fancy myself at making films quite quickly.”
