Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell kept her fans waiting at a book signing on Monday - because she was trapped in an elevator.
The singer-turned-author was rescued by firemen after she was trapped for an hour at the Lakeside Shopping Center in Essex, England when the service elevator broke down.
The 35-year-old was due to sign copies of her new children’s book, Ugenia Lavender, at a book store - but waiting fans were told by staff there had been “an incident”.
Once she was finally rescued, Halliwell explained the delay to the waiting children saying, “I got stuck in a lift.”

Geri Halliwell was ashamed of her “humble background” when she was at school - insisting she was bullied over her family’s financial situation.
The singer, who grew up in Hertfordshire, England, admits she was “embarrassed” that her family were not wealthy and claims she was treated badly by her fellow schoolmates because of it.
She says, “There was a girl at school who threatened to throw me over the railway tracks. I maybe didn’t’ think of myself as a misfit but I came from a humble background. My parents didn’t have much money and my Dad would drop me off in this old Mazda car. It was really old and I’d feel a little embarrassed. Your whole world at that age is based on those stupid things and if anything’s different you think, ‘Shame.’”

Geri Halliwell loved writing for her new series of children’s books - because the “therapeutic” experience allowed her to express her inner “brat”.
The mother-of-one, 35, admits she was transformed into another world when she was penning the kids’ fiction, allowing her to tap into the realm of her feisty eight-year-old alter ego, Ugenia Lavender.
She says, “One of the things I liked about writing the books was that it was almost like I got to exercise that brat-child that I am not allowed to be in real life. All the things I can’t do in real life - like sulking or stamping my feet or being rude to someone - Ugenia can do in the book.”
And the former Spice Girl, who came up with the character of Ugenia a year before her daughter Bluebell Madonna was born in 2006, insists her sassy heroine was inspired by her fellow bandmates.
She adds, “I wrote these books before I had any inclination that the Spice Girls reunion would ever happen, and part of the motivation for creating this character was that I wanted to find a new medium for Girl Power. Ugenia is like all the Spice Girls rolled into one.”
Halliwell’s set of six stories, entitled Ugenia, will be published monthly in the U.K. between May and October.

Geri Halliwell admits her friendship with Victoria Beckham suffered a huge blow when she walked out on the Wannabe hitmakers in 1998, and their rocky relationship was blighted further when the style queen failed to invite her to her wedding to soccer superstar David in 1999.
But Halliwell insists she has once again grown close to the mum-of-three after the Spice Girls’ recent reunion tour, because balancing the stresses of a pop career with motherhood has helped them to move past their previous conflicts.
She says, “I have huge admiration for Victoria. She had her boys with her the whole time (during the tour) and she’s done such a great job with them - they are all so well mannered and caring. We are actually the biggest supporters of each other. We feel really proud of one another, particularly when you add this bond of motherhood.”
Halliwell has a daughter, Bluebell Madonna, who turns two next month.

It seems that the skinny one’s weren’t just on the runway at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show. Sources are claiming that Gerri “Ginger” Halliwell is working out like crazy and has begun to look like skin draped over bone.
Geri has been working out and working hard in prep for this big comeback,” a source close to the “Stop” songstress told Pop Tarts. “She has really embraced the spiritual aspects of life and her positive energy has been the reason she has lost the pounds.”
Sources are claiming that she is even skinnier now than well known bobble head Victoria Beckham! Now that is skinny!
