Anderson Cooper thought it was hilarious, but French actor Gerard Depardieu was said to be humiliated by the scene on Air France earlier this week, says he friend.

In a statement on Depardieu’s behalf to the French press, the actor’s traveling companion on that fateful flight, actor Edouard Baer, said: “Gerard was upset at this and offered to clean up the mess. He has prostate problems and it was very worrying and humiliating for him.”

The statement, as reported by the BBC, also goes on to quote Baer as saying: “He was also stone-cold sober at the time. This is not the way he usually behaves.”

Tuesday night, Depardieu, 62, was on CityJet Flight AF5010 from Paris to Dublin when the plane was delayed on the tarmac. Asking to use the bathroom, he was told he had to wait until takeoff. That’s when he couldn’t hold it.

Following the incident, the aircraft taxied back to the terminal at Charles de Gaulle airport and the Golden Globe winner was removed from the flight – but later caught another one.

He was due in Dublin to film Asterix and Obelix: God Save Britannia.

After reporting on French actor Gerard Depardieu having  tinklefest on Air France, reporter Anderson Cooper had a fierce case of the giggles during a live broadcast:

While reporting on Gérard Depardieu’s public urination on a plane, the CNN anchor lost a bit of control himself on his show Wednesday night – practically collapsing in a fit of giggles while lobbing pun after pun at the French actor’s expense.

What tickled Cooper in particular was the joke that at least Gerard went No. 1 and not “Depard-2.”

Rubbing tears from his eyes, Cooper, 44, could barely speak toward the end of the segment, though he somehow managed to mutter an apology to viewers. “Sorry, this has actually never happened to me,” he said.

Depardieu, 62, surely could have said the same.

French actor Gerard Depardieu found himself in a puddle of trouble when he allegedly got drunk on Air France yesterday and ‘relieved’ himself in the aisle. Ok, he peed on the plane.

Depardieu was on the ground in Paris, waiting for his plane to take off for Dublin, but a delay on the ground proved too much for the actor.

Depardieu told the flight attendant, “Je veux pisser,” — I have to pee — but she was unmoved … telling the famous Frenchie he would have to wait 15 minutes because the flight was about to take off.

The jet returned to the gate and it took nearly 2 hours for the ground crew to clean up the mess.

Charges haven’t been filed nor has a fine been issued against the actor.

Gerard Depardieu was on an Air France jet yesterday when apparently he peed in the aisle.

While waiting for his plane to take off in Paris, there was a delay in the plane taking off for Dublin.

The actor told the flight attendant, “Je veux pisser,” meaning – “I have to pee”. The flight attendant didn’t let him get out of his seat, and told him he’d have to wait 15 minutes – because the fight was just about to take off.

According to witnesses on the plane, Depardieu then unzipped his pants and pissed on the aisle carpet.

The jet returned to the gate and it took nearly 2 hours for the ground crew to clean up the mess.

Depardieu was escorted off the plane and it’s unclear if authorities will take action against him. Witnesses say the actor was intoxicated.

The actor’s reps could not be reached for comment.
