‘I had an affair with my stepmother when I was 12,’ reveals George Hamilton
George Hamilton has revealed that he had a sexual relationship with his stepmother when he was just 12.
The actor made the revelation in his new book Don’t Mind If I Do: A Memoir, and spoke very casually about the affair yesterday during a promotional appearance on American chat show The View.
He said: ‘When I was very young, 12, I had a relationship with my stepmother. Yeah. She was about 28, 30. It was very normal.’
‘My father never knew about it. It was very normal. She didn’t make me feel bad about it.’
He laughed off claims that he was abused, saying he was a very willing partner – even though the law in America and the UK insists minors consent is irrelevant in child abuse cases.
‘The bottom line is it didn’t feel abnormal. From my point of view it wasn’t something so crazy – I don’t think it warped me in my life.’
He revealed the relationship started up again when he was older – and his band leader dad, George ‘Spike’ Hamilton, was dead.
‘It went on for a short period of time, when I was 12, and then strangely enough when I was of age and I was an actor in Hollywood I met her again, she was as beautiful, and we had a sort of follow up.’
Asked where his father was when all this was happening, he said: ‘My father passed away in the middle of it.’
