George Clooney spends $40,000 on a hotel suite for girlfriend Sarah Larson

George Clooney & Sarah Larson

Sexy Hollywood actor George Clooney made Valentine’s Day special for his girlfriend, Sarah Larson. Apparently, he shucked out $40,000 for a hotel suite for her.

The couple stayed at the Hugh Hefner Sky Villa in Vegas’ Playboy Tower in the Palms Casino Resort. The 9,000 sq ft Sky Villa features an indoor waterfall, a round rotating bed complete with mirrors on the ceiling, a swimming pool, plasma TVs, a massage room, exercise room, sauna, media room, and two bedrooms. Now that’s class!
Before the headed back to the luxurious suite, the couple enjoyed a romantic meal at Nove restaurant and watched the Cirque Du Soleil tribute show to The Beatles, ‘Love’, at the Mirage.

George and Sarah were dancing and singing around a nearby fountain as they awaited their limousine.

Now that’s romance!

Tom Hanks urges SAG leaders to begin talks to avoid summer strike

Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks, George Clooney, Meryl Streep, and Robert DeNiro have all taken out newspaper ads appealing to leaders of the Screen Actors Guild to start talks with movie studios in an effort to avert a possible strike. SAG members will reportedly hold a mass walk-out this summer after their current contract expires on June 30th if negotiations with studio bosses over pay and conditions do not prove fruitful.

The Hollywood stars want SAG directors to enter talks with studios before it’s too late to avoid strike action, and took out ads in trade papers Variety and The Hollywood Reporter to appeal to the leaders of the 120,000-strong union.

Their call comes just days after the Writers Guild of America (WGA) members voted to end a three-month strike over Internet royalties – which has crippled the American TV and movie industry – earlier this week. SAG national executive director Doug Allen insisted the union would open negotiations “at a time that will most benefit our members”.

George Clooney’s lie almost killed his acting career

George Clooney

Hollywood hunk George Clooney almost didn’t make it as an actor, because he lied to a casting agent trying to get his first break. The actor was desperate to land his first movie role and tried to trick a studio boss into believing he had previously worked on 1982 movie Cat People. George was caught red-handed in the lie, because it was the same casting agent for both movies.

George’s charm had paid off and he was offered another role, enabling him to become a member of the Screen Actors Guild, even though the movie was never released.

He says, “You couldn’t get a job without getting into the Screen Actors Guild, so everybody would make up these credits just to get in. They didn’t have internet then so you go away with anything. I remember lying to a casting director about this movie Cat People. She was like, ‘You were in that?’ I was, like, yep, and she goes, ‘Because I cast that.’ I finally just said, ‘I can’t get in the SAG. Help me!’ She helped me get a job on a film called The Predator. The movie never came out, that’s how bad a film it was. But I got my SAG card.”

George Clooney: “Oscars are a sweet escape from U.N. work”

George Clooney

An Oscar nomination is nice and all – but as far as George Clooney is concerned, it can’t compare to being named a United Nations “messenger of peace.”

“I just spent literally two weeks in four conflict zones,” Clooney, 46, told reporters at Monday’s 80th annual Academy Awards Nominees luncheon in Beverly Hills. “I’ve spent the last two weeks around a lot of people who were killing and shooting each other for what seems like senseless reasons.”

The actor – recognized by the U.N. for “focusing public attention on crucial international political and social issues” – went on describe his tour of some of the world’s most dangerous places.

“I was in Chad three days before the rebels overthrew it, with President [Idriss] Deby,” the Oscar-nominated Michael Clayon star explained. “I was in Angola for the peace treaties. Now, I’m here [at the Oscar luncheon], which… is a conflict zone.”

He added, “It’s kind of nice to be wearing a suit again. I’m happy to be here.”

Clooney, who said that he supports Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential race, called the nomination (his first for Best Actor) a “fantastic honor.” In light of his U.N. work, it’s also a “tremendous escape,” he said. “Things like what’s been going on [in the world], or what I’ve been experiencing the last few weeks, always puts things in perspective.”

As Oscar night approaches, he explained, “You’re able to go, ‘God, this is really nice,’ and not be as uptight about it. You have to accept it when people are nice to you and not worry about it when they’re not.”

George Clooney asks his girlfriend Sarah Larson to move in with him

George Clooney

Sources say that George Clooney has asked his girlfriend, Sarah Larson, to move in with him.

The couple has been dating since she was working as a waitress in a Las Vegas cocktail bar, but now he has asked her to join him in his Hollywood Hills home.

A source close to the actor said: “Sarah is always with George anyway, so it just makes sense. Plus he likes having her around. She has made him very happy and doesn’t stress him out.

“She’s easygoing and loving, and that’s what he needs right now.”

He has also asked her to live with him at his New York apartment, and he has reportedly bought her an entire closet full of clothes in Manhattan so she wouldn’t have to pack a suitcase when she flies East with him.

George has also given Sarah full access to his credit cards. It’s not wonder that she fell head over heels in love with him.

I’d take him without his credit cards. He’s so hot. Wouldn’t you?

George Clooney speaks at a news conference for the U.N. in New York

George Clooney

When George Clooney was nearly kept by the assembled countries from delivering his message on Darfur Thursday, the United Nations’ recently appointed messenger of peace chose a more receptive audience: the press.

“There are some groups protecting 250 square kilometers of desert with no helicopters and no radios that work,” Clooney, 46, speaking about the crisis in Sudan’s troubled western region and the need to equip the peacekeeping force there, said at a news conference at U.N. headquarters in New York.

“So either give them the basic tools for protecting the population [and themselves] or have the decency to just bring them all home,” he said. “And go back into your offices and wait until it’s all over.”

The actor had just returned from a visit last week to Darfur and was met with some representatives at the meeting objecting to an actor telling them how to handle things.

“I am the son of a newsman, so the job of messenger comes with the responsibility to deal with facts, not to tell people what they want to hear, but to tell them what the truth is, unfiltered,” said Clooney, who was accompanied by his parents, Nick and Nina Clooney.

Other messengers of peace are Michael Douglas, Elie Wiesel, Jane Goodall, Yo-Yo Ma, Daniel Barenboim, Paulo Coelho, Midori Goto and Princess Haya of Jordan.

Clooney – along with friend Don Cheadle – also received the Peace Summit Award on Dec. 13 for work for Darfur.
