Elisabeth Moss opens up about ex-husband Fred Armisen: “The greatest impersonation he does is that of a normal person.’ To me, that sums it up.”

In the March 8 issue of Page Six Magazine – free inside the New York Post today – Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss busts out of her proper Peggy Olson persona and for the first time dishes about her short-lived marriage to Fred Armisen.

Sitting down with writer Carrie Seim, Moss lobs a post-divorce grenade at the Saturday Night Live funnyman:

“One of the greatest things I heard someone say about him is, ‘He’s so great doing impersonations. But the greatest impersonation he does is that of a normal person.’ To me, that sums it up.”

About her biting remarks, she adds:

“I’m probably gonna get a slap on the wrist. But I’ve just been such a good girl. And sometimes you just want to be a bad girl for a minute.”

Posing in a revealing trench coat and lingerie for Page Six Magazine’s cover, Moss says of her saucy new look:

“People will be surprised. I don’t walk around in a Burberry trench coat and bra all the time, but it’s fun to embrace that part of yourself. I think every woman has a sexy, adventurous side.”

On being single:

“It’s fun to go out at night and not know what’s going to happen. I’m addicted and obsessed with my freedom in that sense. I’m having fun!”

On being a feminist icon:

“As women in the workplace, we’re constantly trying to find a balance between being taken seriously and feeling sexy and good about ourselves…if you believe your ideas should be respected and if you believe you have a voice, then you’re a feminist.”

On eventually having kids:

“I have a tremendous amount of respect for my mother, and it makes me want to be a really great mother. And sure, in an ideal world I can do it all. But I think for now I’m too young to know. You almost have to get older to understand that you’re too young to know.”

On season five of Mad Men, premiering March 25, she says:

“I am ecstatic with what happens this season. I think the audience is going to be surprised. For me, it was very meaningful with what happens to Peggy.”

Not exactly sure how, but Portlandia is renewed for a second season!

I’ve seen the five episodes that have aired so far – and out of the five – maybe 1 was funny, and I’m even from Portland, so I sort of have to like it. According to MSN, the show has already been picked up for another season!

Portland’s tolerance test continues – after sketch comedy series “Portlandia” was renewed for a second season.

Entertainment paper Variety reported Monday that work on a 10 new episodes should start this summer.

The show, created by Portland’s Carrie Brownstein and Saturday Night Live’s Fred Armisen, is in the midst of its six-episode debut.

It has featured a broad skewering of Portland and pop culture quirks, shot around town and featuring guest stars such as Kyle MacLachlan, Steve Buschemi, Aimee Mann and even Portland Mayor Sam Adams.

“This is the first time ever that we’ve picked up a show while it’s still running,” IFC senior VP of original programming Debbie DeMontreux told Variety.

The paper reported the show was averaging 235,000 viewers among adults 18-49, that’s almost four times the network’s IFC’s primetime average.

Episode 6 wraps up this season on February 25. The show airs at 10:30 p.m. Fridays on IFC.

Out of that 235,000, I wonder how many are not Oregonians. Do you watch it? What city do you live in?

Did Scientology break up Elizabeth Moss and Fred Armisen’s marriage?

Elizabeth Moss officially filed for divorce from her husband of 11 months, SNL comedian Fred Armisen, this morning.

The Mad Men actress, 28, married Armisen last October. According to the papers that were filed, the couple have been separated since June.

“They had issues,” one insider told Us Weekly of the short-lived pair. One of those issues? Moss’s ties to the Church of Scientology.

“Her religion was as important to her as their marriage, if not more,” another pal told Us. “He could not get with it.”

Armisen isn’t brooding on his own. After their separation, he connected with SNL costar Abby Elliot, 23. “Fred sought comfort in her after the split,” another source says, adding that Moss is “fine” with his new relationship.

“They are both moving on.”

“Fred and Abby are getting to know each other in a romantic way and taking things very slowly but enjoying each other’s company. It’s early days,” says a source close to the couple.

A friend of Elisabeth’s tells Life & Style: “Elisabeth is doing great and focused on Mad Men and is enjoying the single life. This news won’t even phase her.”

Fred, 43, has been with SNL since 2002 while 23-year-old Abby joined in 2008.

He is currently filming his new series Portlandia in Portland, Ore.

Elisabeth Moss and Fred Armisen Get Married!

Mad Men actress Elisabeth Moss and Saturday Night Live funnyman Fred Armisen are now husband and wife!

“They did get married over the weekend,” a source close to the couple tells Usmagazine.com of the couple, who swapped vows in front of family and friends. “It was fun.”

Word that Moss and Armisen were a couple first surfaced in early January, when Armisen was spotted checking out Moss’ Broadway play Speed-the-Plow in New York City. By the end of the month, Moss, who brought Armisen as her date to the Vanity Fair Oscar party, had confirmed they would wed.

“It’s private, so I don’t want to share the details of how [Armisen proposed], but I will say it was perfect,” Moss, 27, who plays Peggy Olson on the AMC show, told USAWeekend.com after accepting her engagement ring.

SNL’s Armisen, 42, also kept a lid on their wedding details, only hinting that the ceremony would be full of laughs.

“It will be the coolest and funniest wedding,” Armisen told reporters at January’s Screen Actors Guild Awards, while he and his bride were planning their special day.

Asked what she loves most about her man, known for his impersonation of President Barack Obama, Moss has said, “That’s an incredible, hard question.” When asked the same question, Armisen replied “[Our love is] too much for words. I couldn’t do that justice because the words wouldn’t be right.”
