Emma Watson in W Magazine: “The allure of being sexy never really held any excitement for me”

Emma Watson graces the W Magazine cover for June, and I think she looks absolutely gorgeous. The styling is perfect, it suits her beautifully!

Emma is promoting her new movie The Bling Ring, which I cannot WAIT to see! It’s a new movie by Sofia Coppola. Looks amazing. (Trailer after the jump.

The interview is long – and really interesting!

What is the first movie you remember seeing?
Pretty Woman. I was 7, which was way, way too young. That was when I started loving Julia Roberts and American movies. As a child, I loved being onstage. I loved singing, I loved the lights, I loved the adrenaline. I even loved learning lines. I was completely obsessive. A friend of my mother’s found a tape of me auditioning for Hermione. I wanted to get really, really good at my lines. There was reel after reel, take after take, of me doing the same thing over and over again.

Did you ever feel the pressure of having to be a shining example to young girls worldwide?
I was always a very serious child. I remember being 13 and girls in my class saying, “So-and-so is going to kiss so-and-so on the school fields.” I said, “That’s stupid. They’re too young for it to matter—he doesn’t love her, and that’s just a waste of time.” It’s amazing that I had any friends! [Laughs] So I was the right child to get cast: I loved the responsibility.

Did you have your first kiss on camera?
Thankfully, no. I’ve always been fascinated by Elizabeth Taylor, and I had read that her first kiss happened on a film set, which actually made me a little sad. You need to have normal experiences of your own. I’ve never wanted to grow up too fast: I wanted to wear a sports bra until I was 22! The allure of being sexy never really held any excitement for me. I’ve never been in a terrible rush to be seen as a woman.

LOTS MORE – PLUS MORE PICS – AFTER THE JUMP! (more…)

Emma Watson lands the cover of GQ Magazine, copies Julia Roberts’ sexy ‘Pretty Woman’ dress.

Emma Watson is all grown up. The Harry Potter child actress has changed her image for her upcoming movie ‘The Bling Ring,’ and is loving her new transformation.

The 22-year-old actress is seen on this month’s cover of Britain’s GQ Magazine wearing a dress similar to Julia Roberts’ famous Pretty Woman cut-out dress.

On the cover, Emma is dressed as her character Nikki from the film. Here’s more from GQ:

Emma on playing an “amoral” character like Nikki:

“When I read the script and I realized that essentially it was a meditation on fame and what it’s become to our society, I had to do it. The character is everything that I felt strongly against — she’s superficial, materialistic, vain, amoral. She’s all of these things and I realized that I hated her. How do you play someone you hate? But I found it really interesting and it gave me a whole new insight into what my job or my role as an actress could be.”

Emma plays the leading role in the Sofia Coppola-directed movie about the real life Bling Ring or The Hollywood Hills Burglar Bunch as they were known, who were arrested in 2009 for a string of break-ins at the homes of stars including Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton.

She admits she’s taking a wide range of movie roles so she doesn’t get pigeonholed:

“I was open-minded about doing anything but the one thing I didn’t want to do was get myself into a corset because I was worried I would never get out again. This has been a really big departure for me. It’s a really big character. That’s so exciting for me because it meant I was really acting.”

Watch the trailer for ‘The Bling Ring’ below! I’m totally excited, I absolutely LOVE Sofia Coppola!

Emma Watson Defends Kristen Stewart

Looks like cheatin’ Kristen Stewart has a friend in Emma Watson!

The Perks of Being a Wallflower star opened up to Vanity Fair Italia in a recent interview and defended her silver screen peer’s actions, saying that Twilight fans (and the general public!) may have been unfairly harsh to Stewart when she admitted to being unfaithful to boyfriend Robert Pattinson.

Says Watson:

“Those who criticized her are the same people that think that being rich and famous is like being covered in some kind of magic powder that makes life perfect. Nothing can go wrong in your wonderful world,” Watson, 22, told the magazine. “For these people, Kristen deserves all the bad things that have been thrown at her because she had an amazing life and she ruined it.”

“Everyone makes mistakes, everyone,” the Harry Potter star continued. “On one hand, I can understand why it happened: people felt really involved in her relationship with Robert Pattinson. But it’s also true that they both have done everything in their power to keep their relationship as far from the public eye as possible.”

Everything? I’m not sure if I believe THAT, Watson.  Still- it’s nice to hear the actress being fair and logical in her coloration of celebrity relationships. She didn’t mention whether SHE was dating anyone. Hmmm….thoughts?

Why does Emma Stone always dumb down her looks in magazines?

Okay, maybe it’s not EVERY time, but honestly, it’s enough times to make me remember she usually looks like a hot mess. On her Interview Magazine cover earlier this year, she was almost unrecognizable. She covered Vogue Magazine, and looked so bizarre, she almost looked like a robot. In fact, the last decent cover I’ve seen of Emma Stone was back in August 2011, when she landed the cover of Vanity Fair. She looked absolutely adorable. So what’s with all these weird photo shoots she’s been doing lately? Why is she afraid to look cute (like she is!)? Who’s to blame??

She looks like a big ol’ hot mess in these new pictures for the February issue of W Magazine. Here are some highlights from the interview:

On her role in ‘Gangster Squad’: “Grace Faraday, who moved to Hollywood in the ’40s to become a star and ended up falling in with Mickey Cohen, a very well-known gangster, and his brood. Grace is also having an affair with Jerry Wooters, portrayed by Ryan Gosling. He’s one of the cops investigating Mickey Cohen. Grace is playing with fire—she’s constantly torn, caught in that classic conundrum between good and evil.”

On starring in dramas lately, rather than comedies: “In real life, sometimes it’s uncomfortable for me not to go for the joke. I’ve been looking at that in myself lately. Often, joking for me is a way of diffusing the awkwardness of a situation, so it’s kind of exhilarating to be a part of projects where there’s nothing funny or lighthearted.”

Presenting last year’s Oscars with Ben Stiller: “It was for best visual effects, so Ben and I had all these funny ideas. Planet of the Apes was nominated, so we thought we would bring a chimp onstage and I’d say, “Oh—it looks so real.” And Ben would be like, “It’s a real chimp.” And I’d be insisting, “Oh, my God—the work they do now is so staggering.” And he’d repeat, “It’s a real chimp.” But apparently, you can’t make the Oscar presentation about a particular movie or else the audience thinks you’re swaying the vote toward that movie. So instead, we pretended that Ben had been to the Oscars many times and I was this really overly enthusiastic Oscar presenter. I was very excited, and he was not…. Though a lot of people thought it was something else: When I came offstage, they were saying, “You were so drunk!” And I wasn’t. Not until after…”

On her first Oscars: “At first, when you go to premieres and award shows, you’re thinking, How the hell am I here? All these people I’ve never met are here, and it’s so cool! And then, as time goes on, it’s a little bit like, Ah…it’s more like work. There are only a couple of events where I’ve truly felt, That was an awesome night—and the Oscars was one of them.”

What movie makes her cry: “The end of City Lights makes me cry every time I see it—when Charlie Chaplin walks by the shop window and the once blind girl brings him a flower and pins it to his lapel. She’s always thought that he was a millionaire, but he was really a tramp. She feels his hand and says, “You?” And he nods. He says, “You can see now?” And she says, “Yes, I can see now.” They cut back to his face, and he lights up like you’ve never seen. That last line—“Yes, I can see now”—has so many meanings. It’s echoed in every great romantic movie since then and in every great moment of life.”

I won’t hold this photo shoot against her. I love her still…. :)

Who’s going to see ‘Gangster Squad’? I’m totally going to see it (Sean Penn, Josh Brolin and Ryan Gosling in the SAME MOVIE!?) but I wish it was getting better reviews. It’s currently getting a 34% on Rotten Tomatoes, and I usually agree with them. 34% means the movie is probably going to really suck – but will that stop me? Probably not. Have any of you seen it yet? I’d love to hear your opinion!

Emma Watson wears a dress and pants on the red carpet – cute or too much?

Emma Watson is getting a lot of unwanted attention this morning for her outfit choice at yesterday’s screening of ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ in London, England. People can’t seem to get over the fact that she wore pants with a dress. While I probably wouldn’t have chosen this look, I don’t think she looks horrible. I think she would have looked better with one or the other piece – not both at the same time.

The ensemble is by Dior, if that matters.

What do you think? Cute – or too much?

Emma Watson looking gorgeous on the cover of October’s Glamour Magazine!

Emma Watson graces the October cover of Glamour Magazine. The 22-year-old actress has never looked better!

The ‘Harry Potter’ actress says she’s finally come into her own as an actress, thanks to her leading role in the upcoming movie ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’.

“Making this movie was so pivotal for me because I realized I do really want to be an actress, which wasn’t something I fully knew, since ‘Harry Potter’ was such a singular experience,” Watson told the magazine.

After Emma finished filming ‘Harry Potter’, she dramatically cut off her long hair into a short pixie cut. The move shocked most of her fans. “The majority of the boys around me were like, “Why did you do that? That’s such an error,” Watson said. And I was like, “Well, honestly, I don’t really care what you think!”

Emma also opened up about her plans to return to college, after deciding to take a break in 2011. ”The entertainment industry is pretty nuts, and having had that experience outside of it and going to university has really made a big difference,” the actress said. “It’s important to me to feel like I have my own life.”

While Watson tries to keep her Providence experience out of the spotlight, she says she has a much harder time doing the same for her love life, recalling when papz caught her locking lips with her beau Will Adamwicz at Coachella in April.

“It’s difficult on my dating life, because anyone I get photographed with is automatically my boyfriend,” she explained. “So it just makes it look as if I’ve had, like, 6,000 boyfriends!”

Emma is in New York right now, where she’s filming Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming biblical saga ‘Noah’. Her new movie, ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ opens on September 21.

She looks so beautiful in these pictures!

Emma Watson named the frontrunner to play Anastasia Steele in ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’

In news that I hope is PURELY a rumor, it’s been announced that Emma Watson is at the top of the list of actresses producers want for the role of Anastasia Steele in the movie adaption of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’.

Actress Emma Watson is in talks to take on the role of Anastasia Steel in the movie adaptation of “Fifty Shades Of Grey”.

The actress is the hot favourite to be chosen by producers Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti.

The 22-year-old is said to have the right looks for the part, combining a degree of innocence with the acting skills to portray the young graduate who gets swept into a world of sado-masochistic sex with a kinky billionaire, Christian Grey, reports showbizspy.com.

Others in the frame to play Anastasia are believed to be Elizabeth Olsen, Mila Kunis and Kristen Stewart.

Man, I sincerely hope the role does not go to Emma. She is NOT the kind of actress that could pull it off. Not that I think Emma’s a bad actress, but I don’t think she’s the TYPE of actress who could pull off doing the things Anastasia does in the book. I’m about half way through the second book in the trilogy right now (I’m getting there….slowly), and Emma is way too vanilla. The actress is going to need a bit of darkness to her. I think Elizabeth Olsen would be PERFECT (below). After watching her in ‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’, I know she’d be capable of pulling this off.

We all know you’ve read the book…. what do you think about Emma taking on the role of Ana?
