Anne Hathaway starved for The Devil Wears Prada

Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway had to endure a grueling diet to slim down for her role in The Devil Wears Prada - insisting she and co-star Emily Blunt would “cry because they were so hungry”.

Hathaway plays a journalist who lands her first job on a high profile fashion magazine - and her character is forced to slim down to fit in with her image-obsessed colleagues.

And the actress insists that although she is naturally thin, she still had a lot of weight to lose - and the constant dieting was a real struggle.

She says, “I was thin for my height. I was basically stuck with fruit, vegetables and fish. I wouldn’t recommend that. Emily Blunt and I would clutch at each other and cry because we were so hungry.”

Emily Blunt in InStyle Magazine, December

instyle-dec07.jpg

On acting:

“I got into it by accident. I thought I’d do languages and be an interpreter. But I loved drama and got an agent a year into my exams who said ‘Do you want to try it for real’”

On clothes and fashion:

“I like fashion - I’m very partial to Marc Jacobs and Prada - but I don’t want clothes to wear me. Ordinarily, I dress like a teenage boy in layered T-shirts and Converse. To me Emily in Prada was an alien from Planet Fashion. I’d rather aspire to look like Cate Blanchett, who’s always immaculate, or Keira Knightley.”

On her new role in the Young Victoria and a corsetry regime that cinches her waist to 24 inches:

“That’s tough because I eat like a truck driver”

On her role as Emily in The Devil Wears Prada - which has won her such acclaim:

“Emily was a gift of a character to play in what was only my second movie. She was based on a couple of people I know. Hopefully they’ll never work out who they are. But I’ve got a lot to thank them for.”

On having to do the red carpet:

“It’s usually very surreal and frightening, I have a stylist who has a beautiful eye for clothes, but its terrible when you get out of the car and everyone decides that they hate your dress.”

Go here to check out a behind-the-scenes look at Emily Blunt!

Thanks Sam

Emily Blunt to play Young Victoria

emilybluntvictoria.bmp

“The Young Victoria” is the Martin Scorsese project dealing with that most recognizable figure of an Empire past, and original fearsome battleaxe, Queen Victoria. The casting spotlight has wandered and finally rested upon Emily Blunt as the final choice to play the young Victoria. Blunt came to the worlds attention courtesy of her standout performance in last years “The Devil Wears Prada” in which she received an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress. Graham King of co-producing Initial entertainment group said “Blunt is perfect to play this feisty, passionate young woman who went on to have nine children with the love of her life, Prince Albert.”
