Actress Elisha Cuthbert is thanking her lucky stars after avoiding serious injury when she was recently hit by a car in New York during a night out. Elisha says:

“I have this sort of Kim Bauer reaction. I thought, I can either try and outrun it; I can freeze like a deer in the headlights and break both my knees; or I can jump onto the vehicle and propel myself into the entire intersection, so I did the last one and landed with my purse intact.”

She escaped with only a bad bruise on her bum, and credits 3 locals with chasing down and restraining the driver until the police could arrive.

After calling ex Elisha Cuthbert “sloppy seconds,” hockey player Sean Avery has been cut from the Dallas Stars.

“Not only has it seemed to not work with Sean and his teammates, and maybe even the city of Dallas, but the team wasn’t playing well and then, on top of it, the issues that came out off the ice compounded things,” Stars co-General Manager Brett Hull said on a media conference call. “I’m disappointed. I would imagine he is disappointed.”

Before the season began, Avery signed a four-year, $15.5 million deal. Hull said his contract would still be honored as they explore options for the star, who is voluntarily participating in a 10-day treatment program.

When he completes the counseling, the Stars may trade him, assign him to the minor leagues or a European team, or buy out the remainder of his contract.

“There’s no question he can be a valuable asset on a hockey team,” Hull said. “That being said, he’s got to fix those demons he has before that can happen. It becomes such a huge distraction that it almost takes away from his ability to play the game.”

Avery was suspended earlier this month after he made the derogatory comments about Cuthbert, who is now dating Calgary Flames defenseman Dion Phaneuf.

“I am really happy to be back in Calgary, I love Canada,” he said. “I just want to comment on how it’s become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my sloppy seconds. I don’t know what that’s about. Enjoy the game tonight.”

Dallas Stars hockey player Sean Avery has been suspended indefinitely for referring to his ex, 24’s Elisha Cuthbert, as “sloppy seconds.”

Speaking to reporters Tuesday morning after a practice in Calgary, Avery made a public dig at Calgary Flames defenseman Dion Phaneuf, who is dating Cuthbert.

“I am really happy to be back in Calgary, I love Canada,” he said. “I just want to comment on how it’s become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my sloppy seconds. I don’t know what that’s about. Enjoy the game tonight.”

After the National Hockey League suspended him for “inappropriate public comments,” Avery — who served as an intern at Vogue this past year — now has to meet with Commissioner Gary Bettman, who will determine any additional penalty.

A hearing has yet to be scheduled.

“I completely support the league’s decision to suspend Sean Avery,” Stars owner Tom Hicks said in a statement. “Had the league not have suspended him, the Dallas Stars would have. This organization will not tolerate such behavior, especially from a member of our hockey team. We hold our team to a higher standard and will continue to do so.”

Avery signed a four-year, $15.5 million deal with the Stars last summer. He previously played for the New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings and Detroit Red Wings before that.

She’s no stranger to the sport, having previously dated another professional player, Sean Avery, but that relationship has hit the buffers.

Blonde Elisha, who famously raced against the clock as Kiefer Sutherland’s daughter in the hit series 24, is on a summer holiday in Hawaii with her new beau, and hit the beach in her two-piece swimsuit.

Clearly Phaneuf has passed Elisha’s tests as she has previously admitted she is quite fussy and too many men blow their chance of a romance with her by committing first-date faux pas.

The 24 star said: “My pet peeve is when a guy falls asleep halfway through a movie. If that happens, there’s no second date.

“I’ve had guys try to pick me up in my car. No thanks. I should invest in tinted windows.”

Am I the only one that thinks she’s not that great?  I don’t think she’s pretty at all!
