Is Eddie Murphy a sore loser? After failing to nab the award for Best Supporting Actor to Little Miss Sunshine’s Alan Arkin, Murphy tried to brush off the loss, telling Us, “It’s fine. It happens. It’s OK.”
But clearly it wasn’t. Shortly thereafter Murphy, 45, and girlfriend Tracey Edmonds left the show in a huff and didn’t return. Thanks to the early exit, the actor didn’t see any of his Dreamgirls castmates perform and missed out on costar Jennifer Hudson’s win for Best Supporting Actress.
Eddie Murphy is the odds-on favorite to win an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, but now some Oscar voters might be changing their ballots because of Murphy’s ridiculous-looking new comedy, “Norbit.” According to the L.A. Times, the over-the-top “Norbit,” in which Murphy exploits racial stereotypes (and not just black ones) might not be a fitting follow-up to his “Dreamgirls” role. “Every time I pass that billboard, it makes me sick,” says an Oscar consultant. And worse yet, is the fact that “Norbit” is drawing fire from black activists who don’t understand why yet another black male comedian has to play yet another morbidly obese black woman.

Hollywood star Eddie Murphy allegedly dumped ex-girlfriend Melanie Brown after being handed photographs of the former Spice Girl spending time with another man last month.
The Beverly Hills Cop actor reportedly hired a team of private detectives to follow Brown after becoming convinced she was cheating on him, and he ended their relationship after they took photos of her meeting a male friend in Los Angeles.
Brown and Murphy started dating in June, but the Hollywood star cut all ties with the former Spice Girl earlier this week and he’s now demanding a DNA test to determine whether he’s the father of her unborn baby.
A close friend of Murphy tells British newspaper the News of the World, “Eddie had his suspicions that Mel was becoming close to a guy he knows. He was furious when he saw the pictures. “It does on the face of it seem spiteful to now doubt that he’s the father of the baby, but as far as he’s concerned he’s been humiliated too. He’s just evening the score.”
Former Spice Girl Melanie Brown is speaking out against Eddie Murphy’s recent statements questioning whether or not he is the father of her unborn child.
“I am obviously upset and distressed at some of the comments made by Eddie Murphy to the media,” the singer, who is five months pregnant, says in a statement. “I was astonished by what Eddie said – there is absolutely no question that Eddie is the father. My main concern is to concentrate on the well being of my daughter and baby.”
During a recent appearance on the Dutch talk show RTL Boulevard, Murphy, 45, was asked if he was happy with Mel “since she’s pregnant with your child.”
“You’re being presumptuous because we’re not together anymore,” Murphy responded. “And I don’t know whose child that is, until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn’t jump to conclusions, sir.”
Murphy began dating Brown (also known as “Mel B” and “Scary Spice”) in June. However, the actor brought film producer Tracey Edmonds to the premiere of his film Dreamgirls on December 4, where she told reporters that the two have been dating for a month-and-a-half.
This news likely surprised Brown, 31, who said earlier this week, “We’re in love…I can’t wait to spend Christmas with him, and I can’t wait to have this baby.”
Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds, a film producer and the ex-wife of singer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, are dating, she tells PEOPLE exclusively.
The couple have been seeing each other “for about a month and a half,” Edmonds said at the New York premiere of Dreamgirls, which she attended with Murphy on Monday.
When asked if she was happy she smiled and said, “Yes, very happy. We’re having fun.”
Previously, Murphy had been seeing former Spice Girl, Melanie Brown. A rep for the comedian said, “We do not comment on Mr. Murphy’s personal life.”
Edmonds split from “Babyface” in October 2005 after 13 years together.
Eddie Murphy revealed that he’s split with former Spice Girl Melanie B., and he’s questioning the paternity of her unborn child.
Murphy was asked on a Dutch TV show this weekend if he was happy with the pregnant Melanie, to which he responded, “You’re being presumptuous, because we’re not together anymore. And I don’t know whose child that is, until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn’t jump to conclusions, sir.” Okay then!
The couple started dating in June, just two months after the “Daddy Day Care” star’s divorce became final. Murphy already has six children, while Melanie, aka Scary Spice, has a daughter from a previous relationship. Now who’s your daddy?
Murphy’s rep was not immediately available for comment.
