Derek Jeter certainly knows how to treat a lady. While reading up on my daily dirt on Page Six, I came across a horribly awful story in regards to Derek Jeter – and I found myself pleading (out loud) that this story HAS to be false. He can’t reaaaaaaally be this big of a pig, could he?

According to Page Six, after a night of hooking up with random women, Derek escorts the young women out a car that’s waiting to take them home. INSIDE the car is a gift basket full of Jeter memorabilia, including a signed baseball. WHAT – THE – HECK. That’s not possible, right? He can’t really be that big of a d-bag, can he?

“Derek has girls stay with him at his apartment in New York, and then he gets them a car to take them home the next day. Waiting in his car is a gift basket containing signed Jeter memorabilia, usually a signed baseball. This summer, he ended up hooking up with a girl who he had hooked up with once before, but Jeter seemed to have forgotten about the first time and gave her the same identical parting gift, a gift basket with a signed Derek Jeter baseball. He basically gave her the same gift twice because he’d forgotten hooking up with her the first time!”

You buying this? I have to believe it’s not true. I mean c’mon – having a car waiting for the girl is one thing. But sending them off with Jeter memorabilia? That’s a whole new low!

Minka Kelly and Derek Jeter have broken up after three years of dating.

“They care about each other and it was amicable,” says a source. “They’re still friends.”

Kelly, 31, the star of the upcoming reboot of TV’s Charlie’s Angels, was often seen at New York Yankees games cheering for Jeter, 37, and was in the stadium when he got his 3,000th hit in July.

The very private couple repeatedly dodged engagement rumors and were reluctant to talk about their relationship, though earlier this month they joked about Kelly’s lack of baseball knowledge.

New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter and ‘Friday Night Lights’ star Minka Kelly are set to tie the knot, The New York Post reports.

According to the Post, Jeter and Kelly have set a November wedding date and will have the ceremony at the same place Kevin Jonas recently wed — a castle on Long Island.

Jeter has been linked to several Hollywood starlets, including Vanessa Minnillo, Mariah Carey and Jessica Biel.

Kelly previously dated John Mayer.

So how did the brunette beauty tame Jeter?

“She is clearly devoted to him. She goes to probably every game of his that her schedule allows. Being a celebrity herself, she’ll understand the pressures of fame,” Bonnie Fuller, Editor-in-Chief of HollywoodLife.com explains to PopEater.

“It’s helpful when you’re as under the spotlight as Derek Jeter is, to have a girlfriend who does understand what that’s like,” Fuller adds. “[Minka] both understands what it’s like to have to deal with the interest of fans and what it’s like to have to cope with paparazzi and having a very public life as well as private life. Not everybody can cope with that and is also comfortable with the spotlight.”

As for Kelly, Fuller believes it’s easy to see why she would marry him. “He’s got a great reputation. There’s no black splotches of concern about infidelities with former girlfriends … he’s got a spotless record.”
