Has Debra Messing rebounded and found a new relationship?
The star, who is well known for her role on the hit show Will & Grace, was spotted with her parents at the premiere of her latest NBC show Smash with her on-screen and rumored off-screen love interest Will Chase.
All could have been purely innocent — it was the premiere and wouldn’t be a foreign concept for the two to be dining together. Sources say, however, that both recently single actors have begun heating things up in real life and started a ‘showmance.’ Will recently split from his wife and Debra announced last year that she and her husband of 10 years decided to call it quits.
After the Cinema Society premiere, sponsored by Volvo, dinner was served steps from the striking Temple of Dendur at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Guests dined on towers of lobster, shrimp and lamb chops at low, dark banquettes, and after eating, the couple laughed and talked while sandwiched between Messing’s parents.
“We all get along famously,” Messing told PEOPLE of the close-knit cast. Asked if she was happy, the actress smiled broadly and provided a telling one-word answer: “Very.”
The costars’ off-screen relationship isn’t exactly surprising, director Michael Mayer tells PEOPLE. On-set romances are common behind the scenes on Broadway, the subject of Smash, he says. “On Broadway, we call it a ‘showmance,’ ” says Mayer. “That’s where people meet and fall in love.”
“I don’t know where Debra and Will would have met [otherwise], says Mayer. “So [Smash] brought them together. And the context of their onscreen relationship, I’m sure that triggered a lot.”

After being married for a decade, Debra Messing, 43, and her husband Daniel Zelman have decided to split.
“Debra Messing and Daniel Zelman privately separated earlier this year after a 10 year marriage,” Messing’s rep tells Us. Messing and actor/TV producer Zelman, 44, met years ago as students at New York University, married in 2000, and share a 7-year-old son, Roman.
Explains the rep of the separation: “The decision was mutual, and they remain supportive of one another and committed to raising their son as a family.”
Messing (who next stars in buzzed-about NBC series Smash, out in February), Zelman and their little boy recently relocated to NYC — and remain living under one roof, according to a source close to the pair.
“They have been separated the better part of the year but continue to live together in New York for Roman,” explains the source. “It’s very amicable.”
The couple was last photographed together at a Bette Midler’s annual Halloween party. (Pic below).
Last month, Messing told LilSugar about her holiday plans in the Big Apple. “We just moved back to New York but have always had family here,” the Emmy winner said. “We love to go skating at Wolman rink, and go see plays — musicals specifically. Waiting for the snow to come. Looking forward to putting on the snowsuit and stomping through Central Park.”
So sad! I hate hearing about divorces, especially when children are involved.

EW’s Michael Ausiello has learned exclusively that USA Network has cancelled The Starter Wife.
When the Debra Messing-fronted Wife debuted in 2007 as a six-hour miniseries, it attracted more than 5 million viewers and went on to earn 10 Emmy nominations. However, ratings for its 10-episode first season averaged just 2.4 million viewers — a decent number by cable standards, but not for USA, where its top shows (Burn Notice, Monk) regularly pull in around 6 million.
In an exclusive statement to EW.com, USA called Starter Wife a “critical and creative success,” and added that the Dec. 12 season finale served as a “satisfying conclusion” to the franchise.
