Soccer stud-turned-underwear model David Beckham’s move to Los Angeles has been hailed a financial coup for his new team.

Since making his debut as a player for Major League Soccer team the L.A. Galaxy a year ago, Beckham has become the biggest name in the sport in America – and his side is the most watched.

Galaxy bosses are reporting a 20 percent hike in attendance since Beckham started playing.

David Beckham once suspected R&B producer Damon Dash was having an affair with his wife Victoria – because the pair spent so much time together.

Dash was hired to work on Victoria’s second post-Spice Girls solo album in 2002 and the two often worked long hours at the studio while they recorded the hip hop inspired LP.

And the music mogul insists that Victoria’s husband David was jealous of their close relationship – and even suspected them of having an affair.

He says, “I wouldn’t blame David if he was jealous. It’s understandable. I was hanging out with his beautiful wife all the time. I think he thought there was something going on between us. I know they had a conversation about it. But everyone knew we were just friends. But who can blame him? I’m a fly guy.”

L.A. Galaxy star David Beckham may not have won Sunday’s match against D.C. United, but the star gave the crowd a thrill anyway when he showed off his famous abs at the end of his team’s game.

In accordance with international soccer custom, he exchanged jerseys with D.C. United player Gonzalo Martinez after Beckham’s team lost the 90-minute game at Washington, D.C.’s RFK Stadium, 4-1.

Despite being disappointed by the loss, the British soccer star, 33, told reporters at the post-game press briefing that he took comfort in the large number of fans who showed up to watch the game – many of them wearing Beckham T-shirts.

“It’s an amazing honor for me, you know, to pull into most stadiums around the U.S. and see the amount of shirts and the amount of kids and people that have got my name on the back of their shirts. I’m honored by that,” said the midfielder. “But you know, we need to win games. That’s the most important thing.”

David Beckham didn’t mind appearing nearly naked on a huge billboard outside Macy’s in San Francisco.

“To be honest I was amazed by the huge billboard poster outside Macy’s department store, but even more amazed by the amount of people who turned up to see it!” he blogs on his Web site.

“I’m always surprised by the amount of attention certain things create, but the attention this campaign has created is pretty incredible,” he added.

The 33-year-old soccer stud — who wants more kids with wife Victoria Beckham — said “it was great to meet some of the people who’d come out.”

He added, “I’ve always wanted to visit San Francisco, so it was great to finally get there.”

David Beckham doesn’t mind signing autographs for his fans – because he still asks his sporting heroes for their signatures.

Beckham admits he is often inundated with autograph requests – and would never turn a fan away because of his own hobby of collecting signed items.

He says, “The whole experience of wanting someone’s autograph is something special, especially when you’re a little kid and you have heroes whom you look up to. I’ve been incredibly lucky – I’ve met so many great people like (Muhammad) Ali and (Michael) Jordan so that’s quite a few autographs. I’ve got all that I’m proud of. Also when I was young I got one of my heroes’ autographs, (British soccer star) Bryan Robson. So I was very lucky.”

Soccer star David Beckham has reportedly dashed the dreams of a young boy who won a charity auction prize to meet his idol.

Jeanne Kelly paid $7,000 for the package, which included flights to Los Angeles; a stay in the city and VIP tickets to watch Beckham’s team L.A. Galaxy play on Saturday.

The prize was a treat for her son Conor’s seventh birthday; but he was left grounded at the last minute when the star pulled out, reports the New York Post.

Kelly says, “They told me there was a breach of security and David’s not doing it… They’re keeping us in the dark. Conor is heartbroken. He said, ‘Doesn’t Beckham know it’s my birthday present?’ He is my son’s hero.”

She adds her sister, Diane, purchased an identical package for her own 13-year-old son. And although neither family has been reimbursed for their purchase, she’s hesitant to ask for her money back because it was to be donated to Charley’s Fund – a charity which raises money to cure Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

But Los Angeles-based entertainment group ACE – which is said to have provided the package – insists Conor will still pick up the prize.

ACE President Max Soto tells the New York Post the event has just “been postponed”, adding, “It was never intended to be promoted on David alone. There were internal issues.”

A spokesperson for Beckham denies that he and the Galaxy were ever informed of the event: “It’s unfortunate they lost their money. David would never not honor a charity he was supposed to do.”

Tom Cruise has reportedly recruited Hollywood pals David Beckham and Will Smith to join him in his newest hobby: fencing.

The Mission: Impossible star is said to have built a room in his U.S. home for practicing his swordsmanship – and often invites close friends Smith and Beckham to join him in the sport.

Smith tells British newspaper the Daily Mirror, “Tom has a room for training. We don’t get enough time for hanging out, just us three guys, so this is his way of getting together and bonding. David and I go to his home and just do fencing. It’s a lot of fun. We wanted an activity that was strenuous, but we’re getting older – we have to think about slowing down. We’ve got to watch our joints. Especially my knee… Ow.”
