David Beckham is upset at the closure of a greyhound race track in his native East London – because it’s where he had his first job.

The Los Angeles Galaxy star was employed as a youth at Walthamstow Greyhound Racing Stadium, near his birthplace of Leytonstone, but the venue is due to close after failing to make enough profit to cover costs.

The final race took place at the stadium on Friday – and Beckham is one of many mourning the loss of the famed racing grounds.

He says, “I always remember my time working at Walthamstow dogs. It was my first job and I was so happy to be getting a wage for the first time. It’s a real shame.”

David Beckham insists son Cruz didn’t learn his dancing skills from him – because he has “two left feet”.

Three-year-old Cruz impressed fans at the Teen Choice Awards in Hollywood last week with his breakdancing moves.

But the Los Angeles Galaxy star admits his son learned to dance while touring with wife Victoria and the Spice Girls last year.

He says, “It wasn’t me who taught Cruz to do that. I have two left feet when it comes to dancing.”

David Beckham has been voted America’s favorite sports idol by the nation’s teenagers.

Beckham – who plays for Californian team LA Galaxy – was presented with the prestigious honor at the 2008 Teen Choice Awards which took place in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

The event, which was hosted by Miley Cyrus, saw Beckham see off competition from American-born sport stars including New York Giants football star Eli Manning to land the coveted award.
