James Bond star Daniel Craig is set to become a real-life 007 – he’s to be made an honorary member of the British Royal Marines.
The movie hunk made his debut as Bond – an MI6 agent with a distinguished career in the Royal Navy – in 2006′s Casino Royale.
And now Craig, 40, is being lined up to receive the prestigious Green Beret – if only he can find the time to complete and pass an endurance test.
A source at the Royal Marines training center in Lympstone near Devon, England, says, “We were the ones who took Daniel to the press conference when he was revealed as the new James Bond.
“He was great – a really god guy – and he was very appreciative of our work. He supports the RNLI (Royal Navy Lifeboat Institution) and is very interested in the Royal Marine Commandos too. We’re trying to get him down here to do one of the Commando tests so he can get his honorary Green Beret. It’s just about trying to find the time. He’s so busy.”

Daniel Craig has vowed to ‘throw himself’ at stunts on the new James Bond movie – despite a series of car accidents and injuries on set.
Filming for the latest spy thriller has been hit by a number of setbacks, the latest of which left a stuntman with serious head injuries after losing control of a vehicle and slamming into a wall in northern Italy last month.
This followed yet another mishap when an Aston Martin sports car had to be fished out of Lake Garda, Italy after it skidded off a narrow road in torrential rain and plunged into the water.
But Craig, who stars in the movie as 007, insists he thrives on the physical elements of the film.
He says, “I’ve been sore. I’m sore everyday. I enjoy the physical outside of filming, I always have. I’ve thrown myself into it because I get a kick out of it and I think we can do things and we can achieve things that make the plot and make the storyline move forward. It’s much better if I stay involved with the filming as much as possible.”

Long listed as merely Bond 22 while in pre-production, the newest installment of the James Bond series left many wondering what the official name of the film will be, including Bond himself, Daniel Craig. But when Quantum of Solace was finally confirmed as the flick’s title, the Brit was very pleased with the choice.
“I’m very happy with it. It came from an Ian Fleming short story,” he tells Extra. It encapsulates what the movie is at heart and a lot more which I can’t give any away.”
Production is currently underway on Quantum, which will definitely be more action-packed than Casino Royale, Daniel promises. How much more?
“[The stunts have] started to hurt,” Daniel, 40, says. “So I can only gauge it by how much pain I’m in and I think we’re doing pretty good.”
As for the Bond girls, gone are Eva Green and Ivana Milicevic, and in their place are Brit Gemma Arterton and Ukranian model-turned-actress Olga Kurylenko.
Gemma, 22, plays Agent Fields and says it’s “incredible” being on set. Twenty-eight-year-old Olga portrays Camille, who is “very driven. She has her own mission in the movie and, of course, she comes across Bond. They are opponents and then they have to work together. She’s very feisty.”
Quantum of Solace opens Nov. 7.

“Quantum of Solace” is the title of the new James Bond film, the 22nd Bond adventure.
The title was revealed to reporters Thursday at Pinewood Studios outside of London, where the movie is being filmed.
Producer Michael G. Wilson said the title, chosen only a few days ago, was taken from a story by Bond creator Ian Fleming that appears in the collection “For Your Eyes Only.”
“We thought it was an intriguing title and referenced what happened to Bond and what is happening in the film,” he said.

Daniel Craig is returning as Agent 007. He picks up where 2006′s “Casino Royale” left off, with Bond contemplating revenge after his betrayal by his true love, Vesper Lynd.
“It is not a revenge movie,” said co-producer Barbara Broccoli. “It’s a lot more complicated than that. It has lots of action but it also deals with the inner turmoil Bond is feeling.”
Filming began at Pinewood Studios earlier this month. Location shooting is planned in Austria, Italy and Panama. Judi Dench returns as the MI-6 boss M and Mathieu Amalric (“The Diving Bell and the Butterfly”) plays the villain. Additions to the cast include Ukrainian actress Olga Kurylenko as mysterious Bond girl Camille.
“Quantum of Solace” is set to open in Britain and the United States on Nov. 7.
