Daniel Craig dishes about newest Bond film

Daniel Craig

Long listed as merely Bond 22 while in pre-production, the newest installment of the James Bond series left many wondering what the official name of the film will be, including Bond himself, Daniel Craig. But when Quantum of Solace was finally confirmed as the flick’s title, the Brit was very pleased with the choice.

“I’m very happy with it. It came from an Ian Fleming short story,” he tells Extra. It encapsulates what the movie is at heart and a lot more which I can’t give any away.”

Production is currently underway on Quantum, which will definitely be more action-packed than Casino Royale, Daniel promises. How much more?

“[The stunts have] started to hurt,” Daniel, 40, says. “So I can only gauge it by how much pain I’m in and I think we’re doing pretty good.”

As for the Bond girls, gone are Eva Green and Ivana Milicevic, and in their place are Brit Gemma Arterton and Ukranian model-turned-actress Olga Kurylenko.

Gemma, 22, plays Agent Fields and says it’s “incredible” being on set. Twenty-eight-year-old Olga portrays Camille, who is “very driven. She has her own mission in the movie and, of course, she comes across Bond. They are opponents and then they have to work together. She’s very feisty.”

Quantum of Solace opens Nov. 7.

Meet the new Bond girls! Introducing Ogla Kurylenko and Gemma Arterton

Quantum of Solace” is the title of the new James Bond film, the 22nd Bond adventure.

The title was revealed to reporters Thursday at Pinewood Studios outside of London, where the movie is being filmed.

Producer Michael G. Wilson said the title, chosen only a few days ago, was taken from a story by Bond creator Ian Fleming that appears in the collection “For Your Eyes Only.”

“We thought it was an intriguing title and referenced what happened to Bond and what is happening in the film,” he said.

Daniel Craig is returning as Agent 007. He picks up where 2006′s “Casino Royale” left off, with Bond contemplating revenge after his betrayal by his true love, Vesper Lynd.

“It is not a revenge movie,” said co-producer Barbara Broccoli. “It’s a lot more complicated than that. It has lots of action but it also deals with the inner turmoil Bond is feeling.”

Filming began at Pinewood Studios earlier this month. Location shooting is planned in Austria, Italy and Panama. Judi Dench returns as the MI-6 boss M and Mathieu Amalric (“The Diving Bell and the Butterfly”) plays the villain. Additions to the cast include Ukrainian actress Olga Kurylenko as mysterious Bond girl Camille.

Quantum of Solace” is set to open in Britain and the United States on Nov. 7.

daniel_craig_001_103107.jpg

Daniel Craig has signed a deal worth an estimated $60 Million! Craig will play the action hero, James Bond for another 3 films over the next 10 years.

“To date Daniel has been quite cautious over saying how many films he’d be starring in.

“It was presumed he’d probably do a couple more but the word is the new deal ensures he’ll do at least another four across the next decade.”

The other film that would make four is currently being filmed starring Daniel. The film is Bond 22.

What do you guys think? Anyone see the one Bond film he was in?

Nicole Kidman = Box Office POISON

nicole_kidman_invasion.jpg

No matter how much money she’s being guaranteed for movies these days, Nicole Kidman had better start thinking twice about her legacy as an actress.

Her new one, “The Invasion,” opened Friday and bombed quite brilliantly. It took in a little less than $2 million. The price for this disaster? Over $100 million. And even though it co-stars James Bond actor Daniel Craig, nothing can make “The Invasion” into a hit.

What’s worse is, no one wanted even to see it in theatres. At boxofficemojo.com, a poll among subscribers showed almost no interest in “The Invasion.”

Of course, the marketing didn’t help. The movie looked like “The Stepford Wives II,” another Kidman disaster. And in many of the ads, Craig’s name wasn’t even mentioned. It was just Nicole Kidman, looking beautiful, running among dead eyed weirdos.

The public smelled a rat, Warner Bros. punted, and the rest is history.

Kidman was riding high in her career at one point with hits like “The Hours,” for which she won an Oscar, “The Others,” and “Moulin Rouge.”

But lately her choices of projects have been disastrous. From “Stepford” to “Bewitched” to “Fur,” “Birth,” “Dogville,” “The Interpreter,” and her misguided work in “Cold Mountain,” Kidman has made one bad decision after another. What it shows is a lack of direction, and no one to manage or guide her.

There may be hope, though: Kidman and Ralph Fiennes have just signed on to star in “The Reader” for Weinstein Co. But in the meantime, Kidman will appear in Baz Luhrmann’s epic “Australia” and sooner, Noah Baumbach’s “Margot at the Wedding.” She needs not only a commercial hit but a critical one to re-establish her position as the best actress of her generation.

Daniel Craig gets a huge pay raise!

bondcasinoap_468×349.jpg

Daniel Craig has reportedly signed a $27 million contract to reprise his role as James Bond.

The multimillion dollar deal will make Craig Britain’s highest paid actor as the 39-year-old is expected to receive $11 million for the next film, and another $16 million for a third outing.

Craig won a huge pay rise following the box office success of his first outing as Bond, Casino Royale, which took over $615 million (worldwide) at the box office to make it the biggest-grossing Bond film ever.

The fee is said to be twice the amount he originally negotiated with production company Eon.

Leon Forde of movie magazine Screen International, said: “The fact is that he’s become integral to the success of the Bond franchise and I’m not surprised that he’s been given a new contract.

Forde added: “Eon are obviously doing everything they can to keep him on board.”

Chester-born Craig first made his name in Our Friends In The North in 1996 before starring in films such Sylvia, Road To Perdition and Munich.

Daniel Craig & Nicole Kidman in W Mag.

From the interview:

Daniel Craig can’t stand listening to Nicole Kidman. In fact, it’s so painful that he has stuck his fingers in his ears and is humming loudly to drown her out. Meanwhile, Kidman is happily responding to a question about whether the 38-year-old actor changed after landing his role as James Bond last year.

“Oh, completely,” deadpans Kidman, 39, who was with him, shooting one of their upcoming films, The Invasion, when he got the call. “In 24 hours he became a diva,” she adds, with a nod toward Craig, who continues to hum his tune as the pair sit in the cozy bar of a London photography studio, where they’re sharing a bottle of sparkling water. But then Kidman breaks down and tells the truth: “Oh, he didn’t change at all,” she says in her haute-Aussie twang. “The thing about Daniel, and the reason I like working with him, is that he’s an actor’s actor.”

Of course, Craig has heard the whole thing, and he seems far more alarmed by the compliment than by the faux insult. “How dare you!” he shouts, and they both giggle.

It is a chilly, slate gray autumn Saturday, and Kidman, who’s barefoot and still wearing a caffe latte–colored Dior gown from the fashion shoot, and Craig, in a navy blue cardigan more suited to Mister Rogers than Mr. Bond, are punchy after a long day posing under hot lights. On Monday they’ll return to the London set of The Golden Compass, a fantasy-adventure film based on the first book in Philip Pullman’s trilogy His Dark Materials. The movie, to be released later this year, is their second collaboration, the first being The Invasion, which is loosely based on Invasion of the Body Snatchers and is also due out in 2007.

Daniel Craig in the highest grossing James Bond movie – ever.

daniel_craig4.jpg

Casino Royale has become the highest-grossing James Bond film ever, according to film monitors ScreenDaily.

The Daniel Craig flick has impressed both audiences and critics despite initial concern over the choice of lead character.

And it now appears that the film-makers got it spot on, as the film has now taken $454 million across cinemas worldwide.

According to ScreenDaily, the film is now being shown on 6,330 screens in 64 countries and has added $19.4 million during the four days over Christmas.

It means that the previous top Bond film, Die Another Day, has dropped to second place in the franchise’s all-time list after taking $431 million worldwide.
