I don’t think Dane Cook is funny. I never have. He’s not funny in movies, on TV, or doing stand-up. You can disagree with me, I’m fine with that.
People MUST think he’s funny, because NBC has decided to give him his own sitcom. Seriously – what happened to the good ol’ “Must See TV” nights? It’s like NBC died with ‘Friends’.
Dane Cook has toured the world’s arenas, and now, he’ll be coming to your living rooms.
The standup comedy star has inked a deal with NBC to develop and star in a half hour sitcom for the network, a report confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.
A massively successful stage act, Cook has plenty of scripted acting experience, too. He appeared just recently in “Hawaii 5-0,” and played himself in an episode of “Louie” that addressed his alleged joke stealing. He’s also starred in a handful of films, including “Waiting,” “Good Luck Chuck” and “Detention.” He’ll next star in “Answers to Nothing” with Julie Benz and Barbara Hershey, and “Guns, Girls and Gambling” with Gary Oldman.
I’m already bored.

Vanessa Hudgens’ Bandslam co-stars are sick of the negativity aimed at the actress following her recent nude photo scandal – insisting she gets bullied because she is dating heart-throb Zac Efron.
The 20 year old was left shame-faced again this month after pictures – allegedly showing the star posing topless – were leaked on the internet.
She faced further humiliation at the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday when Dane Cook took the stage and told the whole audience that Hudgens needed to “keep” her clothes on.
Despite fans booing the funnyman at the event in support of the star, online forums have been buzzing with teenage critics of Hudgens’ antics. And her co-stars in latest movie Bandslam are tired of seeing their pal slated online – insisting she is a “sweet girl” who has done nothing wrong.
Actor Charlie Saxton says, “It’s so totally uncool. It’s like, come on. Give me a break. She’s such a sweet person, such a nice girl. She really doesn’t deserve all the negativity that she’s getting.”
And fellow actress Aly Michalka believes the negative comments stem from jealousy about her relationship with hunk Efron.
She explains, “I think that it’s about people being hard on people just to be hard on them. It’s hard to avoid that sometimes… I think it really is based on that and I think maybe her being with Zac (Efron).”
Hudgens faced a similar scandal in 2007 when pictures of her posing provocatively both nude and in lingerie appeared online – forcing the Disney star to issue a public apology.

Dane Cook is not laughing about this one.
The comedian opened up about his half brother — and former manager — Darryl McCauley, who was arrested in December after being accused of embezzling millions of dollars from Cook.
“It’s a terrible betrayal,” he said on Larry King Live Thursday night.
Although McCauley pleaded not guilty to eight counts of larceny over $250, forgery and larceny by continuous scheme, prosecutors allege that the 43-year-old swiped Cook’s money while being paid $12,500 per month as his business manager and transferred it into his own bank account.
“I worked with my only half brother for several years,” Cook said. “Woke up one day and a lot of stuff was missing. There is a good chunk of money that is certainly not accounted for. That’s all I can say about it at this point.”
McCauley is currently in jail awaiting a pretrial conference scheduled for April 16.
“But hopefully justice will be served and I can move on with my life,” Cook said.

Comedian Dane Cook has abandoned his legal case to keep the apartment he was evicted from in West Hollywood, TMZ.com reports.
Cook was kicked out last year by a jury that found he hadn’t followed the building’s guidelines to curb his dog.
The 36-year-old claimed in his last-ditch appeal that the apartment building – whose previous tenants include John Belushi and Steve Martin – had inspired his work.
Cook settled the case, paid the landlord and now owns a $7 million home in the Hollywood Hills.
The comic starred opposite Jessica Simpson in 2006′s Employee of the Month and with Kate Hudson in My Best Friend’s Girl, in theaters now.
