Daniel Radcliffe has shared in the past that he battled with a drinking problem while he was working on the ‘Harry Potter‘ films.  During the promotion of his new movie ‘Woman in Black‘,  Daniel tells Heat magazine that he didn’t drink AT work, but there were plenty of days that he was definitely still wasted when he got there:

“I went into work still drunk,” he tells the magazine. “I can point to many scenes where I’m just gone. Dead behind the eyes. I have a very addictive personality. It was a problem.”

Stressing that he didn’t drink at work, Radcliffe adds that, “People with problems like that are very adept at hiding it. It was bad. I drank a lot and it was … nightly.”

The actor has said that he no longer drinks. “You either have to change something,” he tells Heat, “or give into that shame.”

This makes me sad.  I’m so glad Daniel got help and stopped drinking, but I hope some of his younger fans don’t read that interview.  I’m sure they’ve got him up on a pedestal and who wants to watch Harry and wonder “hmm..wonder if THAT was one of the scenes he mentioned?”.   I bet Warner Brothers wishes he weren’t being so honest….

This is the rear view image preview audience members will be faced with, when Daniel Radcliffe strips off for the first time in his stage debut.

The teenage Harry Potter star seems unbashful about flashing his privates in public, as he attempts to shed his Harry Potter typecast role in the revival of Peter Schaffer’s play Equus.

Radcliffe plays stablehand Alan Strang, who blinds six horses with a metal spike after a disturbing sexual experience.

He will not be the only performer in the nude: there is also Joanna Christie, 24, who plays the stablegirl with whom he has a relationship.

Harry Potter studio chiefs are reportedly concerned the scenes could damage their multi-million-dollar film franchise and could even lead to Radcliffe being replaced as the young wizard.

One was quoted as saying: “Warner Bros have been building up their publicity machine for Harry’s first – chaste – screen kiss when the next Potter film (Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix) comes out in the summer.

“Now our star is out there doing full-frontal sex. We’ve been blown completely out of the water by this.”

Equus the play opens on 27 February at Gielgud Theatre in London’s West End.
