Cynthia Nixon is making plans to `marry’ her partner Christine Marinoni after beating breast cancer.

The Sex and the City star, 42, underwent surgery and six-and-a-half weeks of daily radiation treatment after she was diagnosed with the disease in 2006 – and the experience has prompted lesbian Nixon’s desire to cement her union to Marinoni with an official declaration of the couple’s commitment to one another.

A source tells the National Enquirer, “Cynthia and Chris want a quiet autumn ceremony in Vermont under the red leaves. It’s supposed to be a very low-key gathering, just for close friends and family.”

Nixon met Marinoni in 2004, just seven months after ending her 15-year relationship with former lover Danny Mozes, the father of the actress’ two children.

Cynthia Nixon, known for her role as feisty attorney Miranda Hobbes on Sex and the City, revealed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago.

Nixon, 42, said she had gone for her “completely routine mammogram” in 2006 when she got a call from her gynecologist.

“She says, ‘Well I have some, it’s not such great news,’” Nixon revealed on Good Morning America Tuesday.

Even though she said she felt “scared … I was very cognizant of it,” Nixon said. “If it’s going to happen, this is the best way for it to happen – that it’s found so early, and we can just get right on it.”

Nixon said she “made a big point” of telling her two children she had the disease. (Nixon is currently dating NYC-based activist Christine Marinoni – pictured below -, following a 2003 split from beau, Danny Mozes.)

“I basically told them they found some cancer in my right breast,” Nixon recalled saying. “It’s very small and it’s very early.

“I’m going to have an operation, they’re going to take it out, and then we’re going to have six-and-a-half weeks of radiation, every weekday,” she went on. “This is what grandma went through, and I’m going to be fine.”

Nixon — who said she kept her diagnosis private because “I didn’t want paparazzi at the hospital” — revealed that her mother had also overcome breast cancer.

“As the daughter of a breast cancer survivor,” knowing my personal risk made me more aware and more empowered when I faced my own diagnosis,” she said.

It is ten years since the stars of Sex and the City first won over viewers with their cosmopolitan adventures in New York.

But with the help of computer technology the four actresses have rolled back the years for photographs promoting a film version of their television show.

With Sarah Jessica Parker, 43, back at the helm of her all girl pack, the stars posed for the promotional shoot ahead of the release of their big screen debut in May.

In flirty red confections – and with the help of just a touch of airbrushing – Sarah and her co-stars Kim Cattrall, 51, Cynthia Nixon, who turns 42 this month, and Kristin Davis, 43, appear almost as youthful as their black-clad 1998 promotional campaign.

Chris Bickmore, an airbrush artist, said the faces had all been retouched. “None of them have any eye bags or crow’s feet around their eyes in this PR shot,” he added. “Their faces are all now really perfect when women of their ages would have some wrinkles and facial detail.

“Kim Cattrall in the latest shot has also had the mole below her lip completely removed. I’d also say they’ve had their teeth made a brighter white too.”

Sarah recently revealed that as well as good genes, her secret to staying in shape is Pilates and, she adds, “running around New York City and having a five-year-old [son James Wilkie Broderick].”

But the svelte star insists she doesn’t follow a strict diet regime.

She said recently: “I eat everything. I’m just an eater. If it’s free, I honestly eat everything.”

“Last night I had steak and some lamb shank. And I had some roasted chicken and some cassoulet and some profiteroles and some ice cream and some cheesecake.”

Sarah recently admitted she was extremely hurt by a Maxim poll that named her “unsexiest woman alive.”

She defended her surgery-free appearance, saying: “Do I have big fake boobs, Botox and big lips? No.

“Do I fit some ideals and standards of some men writing in a men’s magazine? Maybe not.

“Am I really the unsexiest women in the world? Wow! It’s kind of shocking when men… It’s so brutal in a way, so filled with rage and anger.”

Still, she couldn’t be more happy about the upcoming film, saying: “I’m very excited. We’ve still got a lot of work to do, and very little time to do it but I’m hoping that it’s worth the wait.”

Several endings have been shot in a bid to keep fans guessing whether perennial singleton Carrie Bradshaw will finally tie the knot with Mr Big.

The film, which picks up from the series four years on, was delayed for some time amid reports of rows between Sarah and Kim, who plays man eater Samantha Jones.

Cattrall famously negotiated hard over payment for the film, and reportedly had a bust up over Sarah’s $US3 million salary – twice that of her co-stars.

Meanwhile, Sarah has talked down rumours that there is another Sex and the City television series in the works.

She said: “As a mother I just can’t be away from my son that kind of time.”

One source who’s been dodging the evil daggers flying around the dressing rooms revealed that things have got so bad the girls are threatening not to arrive in the same white limo together for the bash in New York.

He said: “There is huge rivalry about who is wearing what. It’s insane. And the film’s stylist Patricia Field is stuck in the middle because everyone keeps secretly asking her who is wearing what. They are determined not to be outdone by each other.

“The four girls were all supposed to arrive at the premiere together in a white stretch limo.

“But now they have demanded that they have their own individual cars so each star can have their own five minutes on the carpet with all eyes on them – rather than SJP getting all the attention.

“It’s turning into a logistical nightmare.

“I doubt there will be a follow up to this film – it would be too stressful for everyone involved.”

But with so much attention on what is going to be one of the most glamorous premieres of the year, even the leading lady is beginning to feel the pressure.

Madonna, who dismissed rumors the event was raising money for Kabbalah, said: “I am grateful that Gucci has underwritten this event, that’s all that matters to me – their generosity. There’s always controversy surrounding anything that involves change.

“I want to put Raising Malawi on the map. I want credibility as a philanthropic organization. I want to inspire people. I don’t want them to just write me a check – I want them to give me a piece of their heart.”
