Following their successful collaboration on reviving the “Beverly Hills, 90210″ franchise with spinoff “90210,” the CW and CBS Paramount TV are taking on “Beverly Hills, 90210′s” own spinoff, “Melrose Place.”
The CW and CBS Par TV are developing a contemporary take on the 1990s Fox soap starring Heather Locklear.
Search is under way for a writer to pen the new project, whose plot is still murky. Just like with “90210,” Darren Star, creator of “Beverly Hills, 90210″ and “Melrose Place,” isn’t expected to be involved in the new “Melrose Place” series.

What do you think? Should they remake this?

The gorgeous star of Gossip Girl has some serious secret family gossip that she’s hidden from the world!
In the Sept. 15 issue of Star, on sale Wednesday, we reveal that Leighton Meester, who plays the privileged Blair Waldorf in the hot TV series, was born while her mother was serving a federal prison sentence in Texas. The mom was allowed to stay in a halfway house for the birth, but had to return to prison on the day Leighton turned three months. The future star was raised by a relative while mom served out her sentence for her role in a major drug-running ring.
None of those details appear in the actress’ bio, which falsely lists the young star as being born in Marco Island, Fla., where her parents moved in the late ’80s.
And Leighton’s mom isn’t the only member of her family with a record — her father, grandfather and aunt all did hard time in federal prisons for drug dealing!

GOSSIP GIRL NEWS!
Gossip Girl is picking up steam.
Monday’s season two premiere was up 6 percent from its premiere last year in the adult 18-49 demographic — and up 10 percent among the network’s key women and teen 18-34 demo.
Its overall viewers slipped a bit, though.
Around 3.37 million viewers tuned in last night, while the first season premiere attracted 3.5 million people.
Still, it managed to beat reruns of CBS’ Monday comedies Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother in the 18-49 demo.
Speak Up: Did you watch Gossip Girl last night? I watched it, and while it’s totally cheesy – I enjoyed every minute of it! How about you?

Long live West Beverly High! In The CW’s much-talked-about 90210 update (premiering Sept. 2), a first-day-of-school ”love triangle” forms when new girl Annie (Shenae Grimes, far left) bumps into couple Ethan (Dustin Milligan) and Naomi (Anna-Lynne McCord). ”It’s awkward for me because I learn that they had hung out before,” McCord says. ”I’m like, Who is this girl? How does she know my boyfriend? It’s a typical high school moment.” Get used to Naomi having a bit of a — oh, how do we say this nicely? — bitchy attitude: ”She’s a spoiled rich girl,” reports McCord of her character who has been likened to original 90210-er Kelly Taylor (played by Jennie Garth). ”Naomi has these faces: She’s got who she is with her mother; who she is with her daddy; who she is with the kids at school; and who she is with the principal,” she adds. ”But then she’s really herself when it comes to Ethan. That’s when you see a side that the audience will connect to. It’s just like, Oh, she does have a soul!”

Along with Annie (Grimes, right) comes her adopted brother Dixon (The Wire’s Tristan Wilds) — both of whom have been transplanted to the zip code from Kansas in order to tend to their ailing ”diva” grandmother (Arrested Development’s Jessica Walter). ”She has an alcohol problem, so our family moves to Beverly Hills to help her,” Wilds explains. Well, from the looks on the siblings’ faces when they first pull up to their new digs, it doesn’t seem like it’ll take too long to adjust to an affluent lifestyle. ”We’re living in our grandmother’s mansion, and we’re just taking it all in,” adds Wilds, who reports that Dixon is a ”ladies man” and a bit of a troublemaker. ”The house is in Bel-Air, so I went up to [exec producer] Gabe Sachs and I’m like, ‘Gabe, did I switch shows or something? I feel like I’m the Fresh Prince now! What’s going on dude?’”
