Though Courtney Love didn’t assault the crowd this time during her concert on Thursday, it appears that she’s up to her old tricks.

Looking emaciated and haggard, the Hole singer screeched through an hour-and-a-half long set of old and new material at Hiro in NYC.

She took the stage shortly after midnight and plowed through classics like “Celebrity Skin,” “Malibu,” “Miss World” and “Doll Parts” plus new cuts off her forthcoming album including “Stephanie” and “Pacific Coast Highway.”

The 43-year-old singer even poked fun at her skinny frame. “I requested Ensure shakes for my anorexia,” she said. “You’re going to have to wait for my eating disorder. It’s getting kinda spooky but the free clothes are great.”

Love, who completed a court-ordered drug rehabilitation program in 2005, also admitted during the show that she had been “sipping wine” before hitting the stage.

She played an acoustic set for the encore (including the anthemic Northern Star) wearing a revealing Marc Jacobs bustier ensemble, though she admitted she needed to “work on her butt.”

Love chainsmoked throughout the concert before a crowd that included hotelier Andre Balazs, the Misshapes and Heatherette designers Richie Rich and Traver Rains.

Following doctor’s orders that she stop smoking, Courtney Love has already cut her nicotine consumption in half – to 20 cigarettes a day.

“I’m going thru hell trying to cut back on smoking,” Love writes on her Web site. “I’m down to a pack a day from two, but it’s a pain and each fight of the urge is a little mini war.”

Love, 42, recently revealed on her blog that her doctor had discovered pre-op nodules in her throat. “He guessed exactly how much I smoke too and told me I’ll have to get surgery,” she wrote.

Now, she says, “[I'm] trying to get to half a pack a day and then quit when I get to 10.” The former Hole singer, who has conquered heroin addiction, adds: “I think of all I’ve been through and I can do this.”

She’s certainly not lacking for willpower: She’s shed more than 50 lbs. this year thanks to healthy eating and yoga, and says her diet now includes whey shakes, Kyo green tea, flax seed and omega 3 oil.

In her latest post, Love – the mother of daughter Frances Bean, 14 – dismisses a report that she’s wasting away. “I noted – ‘cos my kid bought it – I was on the cover of The National Enquirer AND THEY SAID I WAS 115 [lbs.]! I couldn’t walk if I was 115,” she writes, adding: “I’m a big girl with big shoulders and ribs and health is really important to me. Hugely.”

The former Hole singer, who recently lost 52 lbs., says that when she quits, she expects to gain the weight back: “I need to stop unless … I want surgery in a year, and two or three days off on tour is not economically feasible, so my thin phase is gonna go soon.”

Other singers who have undergone surgery for throat nodules – benign growths on the vocal cords – include Julie Andrews and Rod Stewart. Justin Timberlake reportedly went under the knife in May 2005.

Love, who has been recording the new album Nobody’s Daughter, says she’ll appear onstage at the House of Blues in Los Angeles Friday night alongside Linda Perry, who produced the album.

“I truly, deeply, madly love Linda Perry who seems to never, ever be wrong when it comes to me,” she writes. “My soulmate when it comes to songwriting … I love her sooo much.”

More than 12 years after Kurt Cobain committed suicide, Courtney Love has finally decided to get rid of his belongings.

“I’m going to have a Christie’s auction,” Love, 42, tells AOL music Web site Spinner.com. “[My house] is like a mausoleum.”

Love and Cobain wed in 1992 and had a daughter, Frances Bean, now 14. Cobain killed himself in 1994; Love has never remarried.

“My daughter doesn’t need to inherit a giant Hefty bag full of flannel f—ing shirts,” Love says. “A sweater, a guitar and the lyrics to ‘[Smells Like] Teen Spirit’ – that’s what my daughter gets. And the rest of it we’ll just f—ing sell.”

According to Love, her friends are supportive of the idea. “Everyone’s been positive and behind me on it,” she says. “We’ll make a lot of money and give a bunch of it to charity.”

An AOL rep told the Associated Press on Monday that no date has been set for the auction.

Courtney Love is rubbishing rumors she lost weight through gastric-band surgery. “I couldn’t get that surgery if I begged for it,” she writes on her Web site. “I got my inspiration from Oprah losing so much weight on Slim-Fast.” She also says she has rekindled her friendships with Drew Barrymore and Gwyneth Paltrow, and that she knows who’s due to star in an upcoming Courtney Love/Kurt Cobain biopic, “but cannot say. Very high-end and very A-list.” So who do we think will be playing Kurt in the movie? A List?? Hmmm…

Are we not hearing the whole truth?  Love insists her fabulous new figure is due to diet and exercise, but a friend said, “She’s telling people she got the gastric band surgery. She even said she had to sleep with a towel by her because the surgery makes her [vomit] all the time and is worried she won’t be able to make out with anyone because of her breath.” But a rep for Love, who says she’s dragged him to healthy macrobiotic restaurants, insists, “Not true. She says she never got surgery.” Either way, she looks great.
