And yes, this is the movie he has admittedly gotten too thin for!

Why is Colin Farrell looking so thin? At a recent press conference in Spain, the usually fit actor stunned reporters with his appearance – not to mention what he said.
“I lost weight because my role demanded it,” Farrell told reporters simply of his upcoming film, Triage. “It was all very healthy.”
The actor also referred to the Scott Anderson novel on which Triage is based, reading the sentences that inspired his dramatic weight loss: “He went to the bathroom to shave. Once his beard was gone he saw that his face had become drawn. He pressed at the hollows beneath his eyes, the pronounced nubs of his cheekbones.”
“Amen,” director Danis Tanovic followed, breaking the tension. Everyone – including Farrell – laughed.
Farrell spent five weeks in Alicante, Spain, filming Triage, in which he plays a war reporter in Bosnia in the early 1990s.
The actor also spoke of his great respect for war reporters “spending time in war zones to tell stories that capture the imagination – as well as for their wives and girlfriends.”

Is it just me, or losing a ton of weight!?
A very scruffy Colin Farrel was spotted out and about in Alicante, Spain yesterday. The Irish actor is there filming the movie “Triage” which co-stars Spainish actress Paz Vega and Christopher Lee. He was seen downtown having lunch with friends at a Burger King then alone at a diner chatting on his cell phone, sipping coffee, and smoking a cigarette.

Two more pictures after the jump! (more…)

Colin Farrell is apprehensive about a line in his new movie In Bruges, because his character improperly uses the word “retarded”.
The 31-year-old’s own son James, four, has been diagnosed with the neurogenetic disorder Angelman syndrome, a disability which affects his motor skills. And Farrell insists his son’s condition has made him sensitive to those with special needs, leaving him uneasy about his character’s line that only “retarded” people could enjoy a holiday in Bruges, Belgium.
He explains, “I’m involved with the Special Olympics, so I would never use that word in my life. It’s a word that creates denigration and is incredibly harmful. But… my character doesn’t say it with any kind of malice or intent or bigotry. He’s just very naive and the world isn’t as well explained to him as it is to some of us.”

Recovering drug and alcohol addict Colin Farrell is struggling to stay sober – and constantly fights the urge to down booze and pop pills.
The Hollywood star checked into rehab in 2005, fearing his addictions would kill him if he carried on his hedonistic lifestyle. And while the Miami Vice star has been clean since, he frequently toys with the idea of indulging his passion for alcohol and narcotics for one night only.
However, Farrell – with the help of past experience – is fully aware one night of excess would quickly lead him back down the path of destruction. He says, “There are times when something’s happened and I’ll get down. I’m still powerless today. If I started drinking now, who knows? It would probably start slowly but I’d be f**ked, fairly quickly. I just try to remember where I was. “I’d f**king love to be able to drink. I’d f**king love to have a couple of nights f**king howling at the moon. I miss howling at the moon. And not just have a drink, I’d love to be able to pop some f**king OxyContin or some Percocet (both painkillers) and know that it’s not going to become a f**king habit. Turn on, tune in, drop out, I’d love it.”
