A special effects technician was killed in a crash during production of the latest Batman film, The Dark Knight.
According to Fox News, the victim died when a truck carrying a camera platform crashed into a tree while following a stunt vehicle on Monday. The crash did not occur during filming and no actors were involved in the accident. The incident occurred during a test run at a racetrack near Chertsey, south of London.
The studio said that producers, cast and crew “are deeply saddened by this tragedy and their hearts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased.”

British actor Christian Bale is so fond of the American accent he adopted to play the superhero in Batman Begins, he’s become a “natural” at it. The star admits he got so comfortable talking with the twang, he found it difficult to revert to his native English accent.
He says, “I’m in a very schizophrenic position now where I feel as natural speaking American as I do English.”
“It took a really long time for my English accent to come back again. I thought, ‘Oh shit, what’s happened?’ It’s a matter of your muscles changing and if you’re doing something for 10 months, your mouth changes completely.”
What has this world come to!

Hotel clerks might not like phone-throwing Russell Crowe, but his co-stars on “3:10 to Yuma” say he’s “a sweetheart.” Ben Foster and Dallas Roberts gushed to writer Gregory Speck, “Now we know why his rugby team loves him so much.” Crowe often hosted barbecues for the cast and crew, they said at a screening at the Tribeca Grand. The prima donna on the movie, which co-stars Peter Fonda and Gretchen Mol, was Christian “American Psycho” Bale, who would arrive on the set by helicopter and never speak to his castmates unless the script called for it.

The new Joker, played by Heath Ledger, freaks me out big time!

Is everyone looking forward to seeing it? All I know is that Christian Bale is dreeeeamy!

Christian Bale was attacked by angry red ants when a stunt on the set of his new film Rescue Dawn went too far. The star agreed to hang upside down with his face buried in an ants’ nest for a torture scene in the film, in which he plays a real-life prisoner of war.
But things got scary for the actor when a Thai crewmember misunderstood director Werner Herzog’s call to get his star out of trouble.
Bale recalls, “One of the guys stepped forward and he started spinning me and I was spinning pretty fast. I was upside down so the blood is rushing to your head anyway and then Werner actually said, ‘OK enough.’
“This guy took it to mean ‘More,’ so he jumped in and span me and he span me and I’m going so damn fast that I couldn’t stand up for a good half hour after that. It was the real ants crawling all over my head and biting me as well. That wasn’t a good day… I could’ve done without that.”
Have you seen the trailer for “Rescue Dawn” yet?

With sealed lips being the mantra of the day on “The Dark Knight” set, info on the next edition of the “Batman” franchise is hard to come by. That’s why we were happy to get anything out of star Christian Bale, who confirmed to MTV News that Heath Ledger’s take on The Joker will be decidedly darker than previous versions of the iconic villain.
“I think I should let Heath give you the answer on all this,” Bale said, before stating that “certainly I think that we dig a little more than the other movies did.” That means that fans shouldn’t expect to see The Joker dancing to Prince, as Jack Nicholson did in Tim Burton’s 1989 film. “We recognize, of course, they are cartoon characters, [but] we try to ground them in somewhat more reality than the other movies.”
According to the “Rescue Dawn” actor, though, one thing’s for sure…clowns are scary. “There’s a word for it, isn’t there?” Bale asked of Coulrophobia, or an intense fear of clowns. “It’s a wonderful word. Most kids are terrified of the bloody things.”
“The Dark Knight” hits theaters in 2008.
