Batman star Christian Bale has declared he will quit the comic book movie franchise if producers ever decide to reintroduce the caped crusader’s sidekick Robin.
Bale took on the role of the legendary action hero in 2005’s Batman Begins and will be seen again in The Dark Knight, which is due for release later this month.
But the actor is hoping that the character of Robin is not brought back into any of future Batman movies – because he will resign in protest.
He says, “If Robin crops up in one of the new Batman films, I’ll be chaining myself up somewhere and refusing to go to work.”

Christian Bale is in talks to replace Tom Cruise as the President of the United States.
Cruise has quit Warner Bros. movie 28th Amendment, prompting movie bosses to seek out Bale.
MovieHole.net reports talks between movie executives and Cruise broke down last month and he’ll no longer play Ben Cahill in the Phillip Noyce action thriller.
In the film, President Cahill battles the leaders of a super secret organization, who control all U.S. affairs. Denzel Washington will reportedly play the leader of the sect.

Christian Bale has said that he knew he and Heath Ledger “connected on a deep level” before they had even finished shooting their first scene together.
The Dark Knight co-stars had never worked together before they started shooting the new Batman movie.
But Bale told Britain’s Mail On Sunday newspaper that they immediately shared an “incredibly intense” scene — before collapsing into uncontrollable giggles!
“I knew Heath’s work and I thought he was good,” he told the paper. “But you can’t really judge an actor until you work with them.
“Our first scene together was an interrogation between Batman and the Joker.
“We were put into this small room with all these two-way mirrors. It was just us. It was incredibly intense and everything we did we could see reflected in the mirrors.
“There was an unbelievable amount of energy and tension in the room, and then out of nowhere came this hysterical laughter.
“Both of us were laughing madly. Looking back on it, I think it was because we both had this feeling that we connected on a deep level.
“We had this very similar approach – completely intense – and there was something so extreme it just came out as laughter.”
The American Psycho star dismissed the calls for the movie to be shelved out of respect for Heath, who died on January 22.
“I know there are a lot of people out there who don’t think this movie should be shown,” he said. ‘But if you’re asking my opinion, I think that’s bloody insane. I also think it’s an insult to Heath and everything he stood for.”
The Dark Knight is released July 18.

Batman may look kick-ass in his Batsuit glory, but don’t think it felt that way wearing it.
“The first movie was like having a vice tightened around my skull for months on end,” Christian Bale tells Parade.com of donning the leather suit in 2005’s Batman Begins. “I convinced myself only helped me to portray the rage that this alter ego, Batman, felt.”
But the actor didn’t let his dissatisfaction go unnoticed. Costume designers took his complaints to heart and fashioned a more forgiving suit for next month’s The Dark Knight.
“Thank God,” Christian sales. “I’m so appreciative of that. They were able to make that a whole lot more comfortable.”
Not to mention, better ventilated as well — there’s no air-conditioning involved, but the 34-year-old isn’t sweating his butt off in it either.
“It was nothing so advanced as that. It was just material that was able to breathe a little, so that I wasn’t leaving the puddles of sweat behind me if I stood still for longer than 30 seconds,” he says.
And should there be a third flick in the series, Christian is hoping for even more comfort — and more character development.
“What Batman is all about is a double-sided edge; there’s a duality to this character, which makes him still interesting to play in the sequel—I hope in a third,” he says. “And I’m working with people who are going to inspire but also demand that I come up with something new. I do love the unknown, but there’s more to investigate in Bruce Wayne and Batman.”

Christian Bale has rubbished reports that the demands placed on Heath Ledger for The Dark Knight contributed to the late actor’s tragic death.
Ledger played The Joker in the upcoming Batman sequel and rumors emerged after his death in January that the Australian actor’s immersion in the role had been excessive, leading crew members to suggest he seek counseling.
The Brokeback Mountain star died after an accidental overdose of prescription drugs and anonymous sources claimed after his sad passing that he had refused to talk to co-stars and crew out of character, preferring to remain in the guise of the comic book villain.
But according to Bale, who plays Bruce Wayne for the second time in Christopher Nolan’s film, any suggestion that Ledger’s mental state would have been affected by the demands of the role is incorrect.
“It’s not for me to tell anybody or to pretend to have insights beyond what I absolutely know, but my instincts are that the idea Heath was disturbed by playing The Joker is ridiculous,” he explained in an interview with Total Film magazine.
“Heath was somebody who, like myself, acted for that immersion in a character. It’s not an unusual thing.
“And from working with him and knowing him, I don’t think that was unusual for him at all.”
The Dark Knight is released on July 25th.

Christian Bale has ruled out ever starring in a romantic comedy – because he doesn’t find them funny.
The Batman star is famed for his serious movie roles and insists its because he wouldn’t be a great comedic actor.
He tells Details magazine, “I have no attraction to misery. I don’t intentionally go for dark.
“The only think I would unequivocally say is that I have never had any interest in romantic comedy – I just couldn’t do it. I think I’d be terrible. And I think it’s an oxymoron anyway. I’ve never found any of them funny.”

Christian Bale is such a fantastic liar in interviews he can no longer be confident he’s telling the truth.
The super-private actor refuses to answer questions about his life away from the movies and so he often makes things up to avoid difficult interviews.
He explains, “I’m an actor, I’m not a politician. I always kick myself when I talk too much about family, or personal things.”
But he’s been doing this for so long he admits the lines between fact and fiction are often a little blurred – especially when it comes to movies he may have been in.
Bale tells Details magazine, “To be honest, it happens a lot. There are so many things which, even knowing that it was in a movie, I still feel like I’ve been through. And then I have to really rack my brain to work out, ‘Have I actually been through that in my life?’ There are occasions when I’ve pretended to be in a firefight, and then there are people who have really been in a firefight. Clearly it’s absolutely ridiculous, and even disrespectful, to suggest that I understand what that is. And it deserves a very hard smack across the face for any actor to ever suggest that they understand. But the power of delusion is incredibly strong.”
