Chris Brown’s mom has hampered Rihanna’s hopes of playing down her romance with the Kiss Kiss singer - by cooing about the Bahamas beauty.

Joyce Hawkins visited the Fire & Ice gifting lounge for the BET Awards over the weekend with her son and his alleged girlfriend.

According to Eonline.com, she was overheard calling Rihanna “the sexiest and sweetest girl Chris has ever dated.”

Those present in the gifting lounge when Rihanna and Brown arrived insist the couple did nothing to hide their feelings for each other.

One source says, “They came through holding hands and kissing each other on the neck.”

The couple took home matching gold watches from Croton, and Rihanna helped her man pick out pairs of New Balance running shoes after picking up three pairs of Australia Love Collective boots.

While all this was going on, the Umbrella hitmaker was planning to squash Brown romance rumors.

Appearing on Monday’s The View, she said, “He’s an amazing person but we are not dating. We are very close, very, very close… There’s a big difference.”

Is Rihanna just stringing Chris Brown along?

The lovebirds have only recently gone public — PDA and all — with their year-long relationship, but it’s nothing serious — at least for Rihanna.

“No, I’m not in love,” the Grammy winner tells Extra when grilled about her deep affections.

Trying to deflect the attention, the 20-year-old asserts that she loves life because “life is beautiful.”

One thing Rihanna will talk about though is her new disc — Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded. The album was hit shelves on Tuesday and features all of her biggest hits from the original release and a whole lot more.

“We called it reloaded because we reloaded with a bunch of cool, new songs, including ‘Take a Bow’ and ‘Disturbia,’ the song by Maroon 5, ‘If I Never See Your Face Again,’ and a bonus dvd with a bunch of performances, backstage footage,” she says. “Cameras followed us around on tour, so they got a bunch of good stuff, fun stuff.”

And get ready for an even bigger release from the Barbados native — Rihanna has plans to launch her own fashion line.

“I love fashion so much,” she says. “I’m a very creative person, so I can see that happening very soon.”

Rihanna and Chris Brown have celebrated their love by treating one another to $200,000 diamond necklaces.

The couple - who is still refusing to confirm their romance, despite having been photographed kissing on numerous occasions together - bought the expensive gifts from jeweler Jason Arasheben’s exclusive Beverly Hills store.

Arasheben tells Britain’s News of the World tabloid, “Chris went for the heart theme while Rihanna chose a diamond-encrusted cross to give to him.”

Rihanna is usually mum about her relationship with Chris Brown, but during a recent radio interview the songstress coyly hinted at her connection with the “Take You Down” singer.

When asked directly how her relationship with Brown, 19, is going during a recent visit to New York’s Power 105.1’s The Ed Lover Show, Rihanna, 20, replied: “We are great actually. We have been friends for three years now.”

Not satisfied with the friendship remark, Lover further pressed Rihanna who is touring with Kanye West, on the topic. “Friends? But there are pictures of you kissy kiss,” he said, which prompted Rihanna to respond: “We are very good friends.”

Lover then asked the Barbados-born chanteuse about photos of the two songbirds canoodling in a pool in Jamaica earlier this year. Trying to deflect the questions, Rihanna was at a loss for words when she started “fiddling with the cord and blushing,” said Lover’s producer, Lady O, who described the singer’s behavior while on air.

The pair, who recently spent time together in New York City, have made headlines with their intimate European and Caribbean outings. But Rihanna understands privacy is hard to come by.

“People always want to know what it is and what it isn’t. People think they know. They try to guess,” Rihanna said. “Sometimes you just need your privacy. But it comes with the territory. There’s no privacy when you are out in the public.”

The love fest rolls on for Rihanna and Chris Brown, who spent Wednesday night taking in a Kanye West show at Spotlight Live, a Times Square restaurant and karaoke bar.

A day after Rihanna helped Brown celebrate his 19th birthday at a Manhattan club, the pair got affectionate in plain view of other concertgoers.

Brown draped his arm around Rihanna, 20, as the two danced, clapped and sang along to the short concert. As West left the stage, Rihanna leaned over and planted a big kiss on Brown. The couple then retreated to the back of the restaurant, where they hung out with friends.

But officially, they’re still playing coy. An hour after the concert ended, the couple retreated out the back door, posing for pictures – separately. Brown and Rihanna both stopped when fans asked to take photos with them, but they declined to be photographed together.

Although they’ve been spotted getting cozy from Europe to the Caribbean – including during a romantic vacation in Jamaica in February – Brown and Rihanna have never publicly confirmed their relationship.

Earlier this month, Rihanna shared the most information yet when she told Elle Magazine that she and Brown had become “very close.”

A photographer snapping Rihanna and Chris Brown at Brown’s 19th birthday party in Florida on Monday has accused the singer’s bodyguards of beating him up and stealing his camera.

Tampa Bay Times photographer Luis Santana, 25, claims he was chased and pinned down by bodyguards, who swiped his $3,000 camera, when he tried to take pictures of Brown arriving at St. Petersburg’s Vintage Ultra Lounge.

Santana alleges he was left with abrasions and bruises on his chest, back and arms.

He says, “I’ve shot many many celebrities and this was just another notch on my belt. Then it just turned sour.”

Police are investigating four unnamed male suspects, who left the scene in a limousine.

Rihanna is hoping to quash rumors she is dating fellow R&B star Chris Brown once and for all - by insisting their relationship is like “brother and sister”.

The pair has caused much speculation over the nature of their relationship since they were photographed frolicking in a Jamaican swimming pool together last month. They further fueled rumors last month after they were photographed leaving a London hotel together - but the Umbrella star insists Brown is more like a family member than a love interest.

She says, “I won’t say that we’re just friends - me and Chris are really best, best friends. We both started our careers around the same time.
