Catherine Zeta-Jones is back in treatment. The actress has checked herself into a treatment center for continued help with her bipolar disorder.

According to TMZ, the 43-year-old Academy Award winner checked herself into treatment on Monday, and is expected to stay for 30 days.

Sources say her stay in the treatment center is a proactive measure. “It’s maintenance,” the source said.

FYI — Jones completed a stint at a treatment center in 2011 — at the time, her rep said Catherine had “made the decision to check in to a mental health facility for a brief stay to treat her Bipolar II disorder.”

Zeta-Jones was last seen in public on April 22 — when she hit the red carpet at the 40th Anniversary Chaplin Award Gala at Lincoln Center looking healthy … with her husband Michael Douglas by her side.

Oh man! This makes me so stinking sad! What – cancer wasn’t enough to scare you away from smoking!? What’s wrong with people!

Michael Douglas‘ battle with stage IV throat cancer played out publicly at the end of 2010 and into 2011. The actor wasn’t shy about discussing his diagnosis and then treatment and recovery. But in an interview with Matt Lauer on TODAY in January, Douglas said some of his story — specifically the story painted by portraits snapped by paparazzi — had been documented without his permission, and he resented that. New photos in Star magazine won’t help.

Douglas is seen on the cover of the magazine and in photos inside smoking while traveling with his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones on a yacht to Porto Venere, Italy, on July 21.

The 66-year-old Hollywood icon was a longtime smoker before his cancer battle.

Perhaps getting caught is more troubling for Douglas than the post-cancer puff. From that January interview on TODAY: “With the amount of paparazzi that they have and these video cameras, you know, you just can’t do anything … There was sort of a macabre enjoyment out of sort of watching me go down there for a while, I felt, by the paparazzi.”

I hope he quits! That poor wife of his – I would just kill my husband if he started smoking after going through throat cancer!

Demi Lovato continues to open up about her personal struggles, three months after leaving a treatment program for anorexia, bulimia and cutting. Lovato now tells People that she was also diagnosed with bipolar disorder during her three-month stay.

“I never found out until I went into treatment that I was bipolar,” Lovato told People. “Looking back it makes sense. There were times when I was so manic, I was writing seven songs in one night and I’d be up until 5:30 in the morning.”

The actress told the magazine that things are now under better control. “I feel like I am in control now, where my whole life I wasn’t in control … What’s important to me now is to help others.”

Demi has good company, this morning Catherine Zeta Jones also opened up about her struggle with bipolar disorder.
