Cate Blanchett wanted to follow fellow Academy Award winner Emma Thompson’s lead and place her 2004 Oscar statuette in the bathroom – but was too proud to hide her award away.
The Australian star picked up the Best Supporting Actress gong for The Aviator at 2004′s Academy Awards, and wanted to be modest about her win by displaying the prize in the lavatory.
But the star eventually decided to go against her humble plans, and ended up placing her award center-stage – on top of her grand piano.
She says, “I thought about sticking it in the loo (toilet). I was going to be very witty and Emma Thompson about it. But I’m actually very proud of it so I ended up putting it on the grand piano because all my friends want to pick it up and pose with it.”

Cate Blanchett had no choice but to accept her role in the upcoming Indiana Jones movie – because she couldn’t turn down legendary director Steven Spielberg.
The Australian actress was ecstatic when the Jaws filmmaker approached her to play the villainous Irina Spalko in Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull – because she had loved the popular franchise as a child.
And the star couldn’t wait to start work on the adventurer’s latest outing – stating she had longed to feature in a Spielberg action movie.
She says, “I’ve always wanted to do something with lots of action in it. So when Steven Spielberg says, ‘Be a part of Indiana Jones’, I could hardly say no. I grew up with these films; they’re part of cinematic landscape.”

Cate Blanchett has vowed never to go under the knife – because she is convinced wrinkles reflect a person’s life experiences.
The mother-of-three – who turns 39 next week – insists she is proud of her imperfections and would never consider turning to surgery to fix them.
She tells Britain’s Glamour magazine, “I see someone’s face, someone’s body who has had children, and I think they’re the song lines of your experience, and why would you want to eradicate that? Death is not going to be any easier just because your face can’t move.”

This month’s issue of Marie Claire has been our hugely popular Eco Chic issue. Cate Blanchett is on the cover and inside the mag she gives an interview where she discusses green issues as well as her personal life, such as her husband and filming for the Inidana Jones movie. I have attached the front cover and some quotes from the interview below.
On her husband:
“We’re unnaturally close… He was the first person I was romantically involved with who I could talk to about how I work. I have actor friends whose partners don’t provide any constructive criticism. But I get support in all its forms from my husband… I really hope he gets that from me, too.”
On Indiana Jones:
“This is one my kids can definitely see… Dash watched takes with me on set and he was really impressed as I was by ‘the guy in the hat’, as he referred to Harrison Ford.”
On the future:
“I firmly believe we all have the capacity to think big thoughts and are ripe to be inspired. I’m an optimist. I believe we’re ready as a generation to seize this opportunity to make profound environmental changes for the better. After all, what’s the alternative?”

Hugh Jackman has branded new mother Cate Blanchett a “superwoman” for committing herself to a two-day Australian conference – just six days after giving birth to her third child.
The X-Men star was in attendance at Saturday’s Australia 2020 summit – where he encouraged native Australian actors working abroad to return home for projects – and was stunned to see the 38-year-old arrive at Parliament House in Canberra with her newborn son in tow. The actress, who welcomed Ignatius Martin Upton last week, handed the child to her playwright husband Andrew Upton, and proceeded to take her place among 1,000 fellow delegates to help moderate a debate during the arts segment of the talkfest.
Jackman, 39, says, “Cate Blanchett is superwoman. She is amazing on every level. I think she is flawless as a person.”

Oscar winner Cate Blanchett left the hospital with her baby son Ignatius Upton yesterday.
The Aussie actress spent three days in North Sydney’s Mater Hospital, where little Ignatius was born on Sunday.
Upon her return home, the actress was thrilled to see her sons Dashiell and Roman had stuck a “Welcome home Mum and Iggy” sign on a window at the family’s home in nearby Hunters Hill.
Blanchett’s husband, writer Andrew Upton, collected the actress from hospital.
