Here is Carrie performing on this morning’s Good Morning America.

Carrie Underwood’s fans knew all about the romance rumors with Dallas Cowboys star Tony Romo, and more recently, Gossip Girl hunk Chace Crawford – which may just prove her point about the celebrity dating life.

“Eventually you are going to get busted if you are dating someone,” she tells Nashville’s Tennessean newspaper in a revealing interview published Sunday, though she says “there are definite ways around it.”

In this latest profile, part of her media rounds to promote her new album Carnival Ride (out Tuesday), Underwood, 24, talks about Romo and the pitfalls of finding love after Idol. (In a separate story, she also talks about her friends back home and being accepted in Nashville.)

Regarding Cowboys quarterback Romo, Underwood says they were never officially a couple. “Right now, the place we are at, he is my best friend. He’ll call me after games. … Either I’m flying high with him or making him feel better.

“It took a little while to get to this point. It seemed like maybe for a bit we were headed there. We never got there.”

As for dating while famous, Underwood acknowledges that her romantic life very often becomes public knowledge, but “it’s just weird when it’s not a date and people immediately assume it is.”

Carrie Underwood came out a triple winner at the fan-voted CMT Music Awards on Monday: She won in the categories of video of the year, female video and best video director for her take-no-prisoners hit “Before He Cheats.”

In it, the American Idol winner sings of lifting a baseball bat to a cheating boyfriend’s “pretty little souped-up 4-wheel drive” – though, in real life, she recently admitted to hoping for a softer approach to romance. (”I’m not saying I want to get married tomorrow,” said the 24-year-old, “but I’d like to have someone other than my mom to call when I have good news.”)

“It was at the CMT awards last year that I gave my first acceptance speech ever,” Underwood said, the Associated Press reports. “It’s been such an amazing and blessed two years.”

Kenny Chesney took the male video honor for his “You Save Me,” while Rascal Flatts received the group video prize for “What Hurts the Most.”

Beating Johnny Cash’s “God’s Gonna Cut You Down” and Jimmy Buffett’s “Bama Breeze,” Jack Ingram received the newly inaugurated Wide Open Country award, which recognizes artists outside the mainstream.

“Right now I’m flying on the mainstream radar, but for a long time I wasn’t,” Ingram said.

Teen newcomer Taylor Swift, who is in the 11th grade and is facing final exams on Tuesday, took home breakthrough video of the year honors with her hit “Tim McGraw.” She attended the ceremony with her mother.

“This is my first award show ever. I wanted my mom right next to me,” Swift said.

Sugarland won duo video of the year for “Want To.” “Thank you to the fans,” said singer Jennifer Nettles. “We love that you vote for that; it makes it that much more special.”

Kris Kristofferson, 70, received the Johnny Cash Visionary Award from the late legend’s daughter, Rosanne Cash. “He is an artist with nothing to lose,” she said. “He can risk everything because he never compromises his integrity.”

Dallas Cowboys Tony Romo was rumored to be secretly dating Jessica Simpson earlier this year, but now the star quarterback is coming clean about the new blond in his life reports PerezHilton.Com.

American Idol champ Carrie Underwood, who released one of the most successful albums of 2006, surprised football fans on Christmas day with her appearance at Texas Stadium, where she was seen with Romo and gave him a hug on the field before his game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Now, In Touch Weekly reports that Tony has confirmed that he and Carrie are a couple in an interview the Journal Gazette/Times-Courier, a small-town paper in Charleston, Ill., where he played college football.

Sports editor Brian Nielsen says, “After I asked him all my usual football questions, I said, ‘My wife really wants to know if the Jessica Simpson dating rumors are true.’” He laughed and replied, ‘No. Tell her I’m dating Carrie Underwood’.
