Carrie Underwood may always look/seem perfect, because she’s very conscious of how she’s portrayed in the media. Still, after four albums and numerous hits, the star is really trying to loosen up.

OMG reports that Underwood learned fast about how she presented herself on her season of American Idol.   “It seemed like every single solitary stupid thing I said was aired and featured and replayed over and over and over again.”

Now,  the singer is glad that she had those blunders.   Underwood says, “I can present a polished version of myself when it counts.” And she definitely can, and has! But now,  she’s trying to show her personality and get goofy every once in a while, especially when she writes her songs.  “Before you have a chance to think about something, you blurt it out and it doesn’t make any sense, and everybody gets a good laugh out of it. You can’t be afraid to sound completely dumb when you go to write.” Aw!  This superstar is successful and incredibly loved by everyone who works with her, and this is one reason why.

Mega-hot Carrie Underwood is back in the spotlight after a year-long, blissed-out honeymoon (lucky girl!). Now on the eve of her fourth album, the country star talks to Jonah Weiner—and doesn’t hold back. Read on for an excerpt of her June 2012 Glamour interview.

Glamour: You come from a working-class background, and your songs reflect that. But that’s not you anymore. Is it possible to write a great country song about being rich and famous?

Carrie Underwood: With no irony? I don’t think so, because country music is for real people. I think it would be very hard to write about my Louboutins. Do you know what I mean? My giant house, it’s not relatable. But my husband came from a small town and hardworking parents like I did, and I don’t think we’ve lost that mind-set. We don’t have a bowling alley in our basement. We don’t have houses on the beach and one in New York and one in L.A. I drive a three-year-old Ford Escape Hybrid. We don’t care about stuff like that.

Glamour: What was the first big, irresponsible, awesome purchase you made when your career took off?

Carrie Underwood: My first stupid purchase was an accident. I was in Paris and went into one of those big, name-brand, fancy-schmancy designers, and I picked up a sweatshirt. Maybe I didn’t understand the price tag. I’m really bad with numbers. But when I went to check out, that sucker was $2,000.

Glamour: Two thousand dollars for a sweatshirt! What was it made of?

Carrie Underwood: Not cashmere but thicker than cotton. I’ve worn it twice.

I don’t know if a lot of celebs avoided the red carpet before the Grammy Awards ceremony last night or what, but there aren’t a ton of photos to pick from this morning!  Here are a few of the highlights: Paris Hilton, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert, and Kate Beckinsale.

Do you have any favorites from last night? I did love what Adele wore for her performance – it was simple and gorgeous.  She doesn’t need flashy and funky costumes to grab our attention – her voice is enough.

Country music star Carrie Underwood recently revealed on The Ellen Degeneres Show that she was surprised to realize that her hockey player husband was a hoarder! Because they hadn’t lived together before, it was a shock, and she states:

“He brought all of his crap with him. Our house became … he’s not a hoarder, but he’s close, maybe.[...]He had it in all the guests bedrooms, and he had it boxed up and stuff. He’s like, ‘Babe, I need more space in the closet,’ and my heart just sinks.”

On What He Likes To Keep
“He’ll keep like shirts and stuff … He’s going to kill me. If you bring stuff in, stuff needs to go out. Do we need this shirt? It has a giant stain on the sleeve. Are we going to wear this again? No? Then do something with it. It’s still hanging up there.”

On Whether Or Not He Keeps It Neat
“No, oh no, no, no. It’s everywhere.”

She does conclude, however, that she’s still happy with married life, saying:

“It’s great. It comes with its own wonderfulness and challenges.”
