After a yearlong separation, Pink and husband Carey Hart are back together, and Carey tells Life & Style exclusively how the two are making it work this time. “You have to make an effort to put the relationship first,” the pro motocross racer explained at the X Games Celebrity Skins Classic in Coto de Caza, Calif., on July 27. “It’s hard when you have two people with completely independent careers and independent lives. You have to make the effort, and that’s what we did.” Indeed, Carey, 34, accompanied his wife, 29, on her Funhouse Tour, even performing free motocross shows outside some of the arenas where she played. “It was an opportunity for us to spend time together,” he tells Life & Style. “It was really nice to be able to cross our two worlds.”

And the duo might have more opportunities to work together in the future. Carey is currently filming a new reality show about his life as an athlete and owner of a tattoo shop and club, and he says Pink will appear on it as well. The couple, who met in 2001, married in 2006 in Costa Rica. Though they split last year, divorce was never finalized. “We never officially signed anything,” Carey says. “We just separated, and here we are figuring it out again.”

While on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the singer opened up about reuniting with the motorcycle racer.

“We are!” Pink told Ellen DeGeneres in the episode that airs Friday.

Currently on an international tour, the performer added that “it’s funny now” to sing songs — such as her hit single, “So What” — about her ex now that they’re back together.

“Because he’s in the audience, so when I sing ‘He’s a tool,” now that’s my favorite line,” she said. “[I'm like,] ‘Hi honey, that’s you.”

Although several media outlets have reported that the couple divorced, Pink said that they never filled out the paperwork and won’t have to get remarried.

But will the rock star still want another ceremony?

“I love a party,” she joked.

Even Hart has confirmed to Usmagazine.com that they are giving their relationship another try.

“We’re on the mend and just rebuilding,” Hart told Us at the grand opening of his new tattoo studio, Hart & Huntington, in Las Vegas, in April. “That’s all I can ask for right now.”

Us Weekly first reported their reunion when they were spotted kissing on New Year’s Eve and spent the entire weekend together.

Since separating in February 2008 after two years of marriage, they have remained on very friendly terms.

“They want to have a ceremony at their house in Malibu on the beach at sunset,” a friend of the pair, who split in February 2008, reveals. “It will take place in early summer and will be very simple and small, with just their family and a few close friends.”

Another confidante close to Carey confirms plans for a second wedding. “They are very happy and spending a lot of time together,” the pal says.

For Pink, 29, and motocross racer Carey, 33, who met at the 2001 X Games in Las Vegas, absence really did make their hearts grow fonder. “They broke up because of their busy careers, but they never stopped loving each other,” the friend of the couple says. “They’ve always had a bond, but they needed time apart to realize that they wanted to continue their marriage.”

Pink admits she isn’t entirely over her ex-husband Carey Hart.

“It’s up and down,” she says in February’s Seventeen. “You have strong moments, and you have weak moments. But it’s not just been devastating – it’s been freedom, too. I told him that I would give him away at his next wedding.”

She also says it “feels very confusing” that her single “So What” — which she has said is not about Hart — became the break-up anthem of the year.

“It’s bittersweet,” says the singer, 29. “It’s funny, it’s empowering, it’s ‘Screw you,’ it’s all of that.”

Despite the razor-sharp lyrics (”I’m just fine/And you’re a tool”), Pink says she doesn’t like being a mean girl.

“My brother and I fought a lot when we were kids. We were very violent,” she says, explaining how she got to be so aggressive. “He could always beat me physically, but I could always beat him with words. And you learn how to survive by how you are as a kid and can just be really mean.

“I can cut people down. I don’t like to,” says Pink. “I don’t want to be like that anymore.”
