Brooke Shields leaving Orso Restaurant in Los Angeles, yesterday.
The 42-year-old actress is the latest star to sign on as a face for the ubiquitous ad campaign that has featured Glenn Close, Mariska Hargitay, Laila Ali and everyone from Christian Bale (while dressed as Batman) to Shaquille O’Neal (who considers himself Superman). Knowing how important it is for women to get enough calcium, the Got Milk people turned to the star of the NBC’s new hit show Lipstick Jungle.
The new campaign featuring the mother of two (daughters Rowan, 3, and Grier, 22 months) launches on March 14 and refers to Brooke as an “actress, model, mother, health nut, spokesperson, role model” before suggesting that everyone should drink three glasses of low-fat or fat-free milk every day to maintain healthy weight and good muscle tone.
Brooke Shields had to be rescued by a former Navy Seal after locking herself in her trailer on the set of new TV show Lipstick Jungle. The actress suffers from claustrophobia and began panicking – until a hunky onset worker came to save her.
She recalls, “The locks didn’t work. I got in there, with my kids with me. My call came and we couldn’t get out. I started hyperventilating. “This guy who was a Navy Seal had to come in through the window.”
Celebrities turned out for A Night to Benefit Raising Malawi and UNICEF at the United Nations in New York City, yesterday. The stars included Brooke Shields, Cynthia Nixon, Debra Messing, Kimora Lee Simmons, Salma Hayek, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rachel Zoe, Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes, Ali Larter, Drew Barrymore & Justin Long, Molly Sims, Lucy Lui, Chris Ivery & Ellen Pompeo, Rihanna, Demi Moore, Madonna & Lourdes, Jessica & Jerry Seinfeld, and Jennifer Lopez & Marc Anthony.
Madonna hosted the star-studded fundraiser for Malawi orphans, last night.
The legendary singer, who has a two-year-old adopted son David from the African country, threw the New York bash for her Raising Malawi Foundation, United Nations children’s organization UNICEF and to celebrate the opening of a new Gucci store.
Madonna, who dismissed rumors the event was raising money for Kabbalah, said: “I am grateful that Gucci has underwritten this event, that’s all that matters to me – their generosity. There’s always controversy surrounding anything that involves change.
“I want to put Raising Malawi on the map. I want credibility as a philanthropic organization. I want to inspire people. I don’t want them to just write me a check – I want them to give me a piece of their heart.”
I hope this show is going to be good, but I’m not going to hold my breath.
PS: Brooke looks FABULOUS!
