Brody Jenner and Avril Lavinge reportedly have broken up. While neither have confirmed their split, sources say the two broke up after spending time apart. Avril travels a lot with her music, and Brody wants to stay in Los Angeles to work on “his career”.

Yesterday, however, the two took to Twitter to declare their “luv” for each other.

“It really upsets me to read all the FALSE!! stories,” Jenner, 28, wrote. “Avril has always been there for me and is the closest person to my heart. I love her.”

Lavigne, 27, wrote back saying, ”Luv u 2!!! @brodyjenner,” she Tweeted. (In the past she always used the word LOVE – not LUV. Could the change be a sign of anything?)

The couple began dating in May 2010.

So is the couple back together – or are they just the happiest broken up couple of all time?

A source for the magazine alluded to the couple’s busy schedules as a reason for their split, saying: “Every time he wanted to come back and take meetings to get his career back in order, she would make him go to Asia and Europe.”

Lavigne, 25, and Jenner, 26, had been one of the more visible couples for the under-30 set in Hollywood: Lavigne got her start as a teenager with punk-rock hits like “Sk8ter Boi” and “My Happy Ending,” while Jenner, step-brother to Kim Kardashian, became a recognizable face on television when he dated Kristin Cavallari on MTV’s “The Hills.” The couple reportedly have each other’s names tattooed onto their bodies.

More recently, in early November, Lavigne and Jenner got into a rowdy Los Angeles fight, from which Brody suffered a cracked head after being assaulted by a bottle.

They were actually a really cute couple, too bad they couldn’t make it work. And how funny is it that Brody’s trying to “get his career back in order”? What career?

Looks like Avril Levigne may be bringing back a little bit of her old “Skater Boy” style by sporting pink and green hair. She and boyfriend Brody Jenner were spotted arriving in Monte Carlo, Monaco on Feb. 18.

The Canadian rocker was recently in London for a special preview of her upcoming album “Goodbye Lullaby“, which is due to be released on March 8. The album is being released 4 years after her last album, “The Best Damn Thing” was released, Lullaby will be her 4th album.

It’s said this album will include collaborations with Butch Walker and Max Martin and will even have a contribution from ex-husband, Sum 41 front-man Deryck Whibley, whom she divorced in 2009.

She spoke out about her upcoming albums delayed release by saying:

“”This has been a really difficult record for me to create and to release,” she wrote. “Not only is this the most meaningful and special record I have written, it is sincere, honest and close to my heart. But for the first time I experienced a bunch of bureaucratic BS… People do their best work when they are doing what they want, love and is natural for them, not when you are forcing them to be something that they are not.”

I’ve heard her newest single “What the Hell” and actually liked it. It reminds me a lot of her the songs off of her first album, which I was a fan of. If the rest of the new album is as catchy, I’m sure she’ll have a hit. For now I’m sure she’ll be enjoying some fun in the sun with boyfriend Brody Jenner before all of the promoting craziness begins.

The Hills star Brody Jenner was spotted in L.A. Saturday with the letter ‘A’ shaved into the right side of his head.

The 26-year-old star most likely shaved the initial in his head for his girlfriend, singer Avril Lavigne – whom he’s been dating since Spring.

Things must be getting serious between the two, in early June – Brody tattooed Avril’s name on his left forearm!

So what does Brody’s dad Bruce Jenner think of his son’s new rocker look?

“It seems like in today’s society, getting tattoos and piercings, changing the hairstyles, going pink and purple and all that, it seems to be their generation,” Bruce, 60, tells UsMagazine.com. “But hair can grow back! He’ll be fine.”
