On Thursday, Brittany Murphy’s husband Simon Monjack is hosting a launch party to celebrate the Brittany Murphy Foundation, which is dedicated to arts education for children. (Monjack claims he started the foundation with $1 million of his own money.)

A source tells UsMagazine.com he is suggesting dollar amounts of $1,000 per individual and $10,000 from corporations to attend the event, which takes place at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills.

Says a source, “Everyone thinks it’s very tacky that he is making it so much about money.”

Monjack has yet to comment.

Murphy was found dead Dec. 20 at the age of 32. The results of the toxicology report to determine the cause of her death are pending.

Brittany Murphy’s husband is suing Warner Brothers!

FP_IMAGE_4250028/FP_SET_4247832

Brittany Murphy’s husband, Simon Monjack, says Warner Brothers is responsible for the death of his wife and he plans to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the company.

Monjack told The Daily Beast Murphy was devastated after reportedly losing a role in the sequel to “Happy Feet.” Monjack believes losing the movie caused Murphy to have a heart attack.

The L.A. County Coroner has not released the cause of death.

Before the “Happy Feet” setback, Brittany Murphy had been fired from the film, “The Caller,” shot in Puerto Rico. There were numerous reports about her erratic behavior on the set.

Monjack said, “Warner Brothers relied on conjecture and hearsay about the Puerto Rico film for why they canceled Brittany’s role in Happy Feet.”

Monjack reportedly is days away from filing suit. Warner Bros. has no comment.

UPDATE: The producers of “The Caller” tell TMZ “The decision for Brittany to leave the film was mutual and amicable, and was in fact related to a serious illness in Brittany’s family. Any rumors to the contrary are false, and in the circumstances, particularly hurtful.”

Simon Monjack: Hollywood Killed Britney Murphy

simon_brittany_murphy1

A month after Brittany Murphy’s death, her mother and husband say they are convinced the actress died of natural causes, not drugs or an eating disorder. The strain to be perfect under the scrutinizing microscope of Hollywood ultimately lead to her demise, her husband Simon Monjack said on ‘The Today Show.’

Monjack claims Murphy suffered a lot of stress in her career after Warner Brothers pulled back on an original offer to let her do ‘Happy Feet 2′ after rumors surfaced that Murphy was fired from a film. “Hollywood broke her heart,” he said. “They have blood on their hands, and I hope they wash them with very hot water because of the way they treated Brittany Murphy while she was alive,” Monjack said.

Monjack said he is also considering whether to sue the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Department over an initial report that was obtained by celebrity Web site TMZ.com, which listed several prescription medications found in Murphy’s home. Monjack claims most of the medicines were his but added Murphy took the anti-seizure medication klonopin and that she also occasionally took Sarafem, a drug aimed at pain and mood swings during menstrual periods.

He also denied that Murphy ever used cocaine. “She had a fear of dying” because she had mitral valve prolapse, a common condition where a heart valve does not properly close. “She would not take too much caffeine. She wouldn’t even have a glass of champagne on New Year’s. She was just high on life, and people see that as something else I guess.”

Brittany Murphy’s Husband: Prescription Meds Were Mine

FP_IMAGE_4250027/FP_SET_4247832

The husband of Brittany Murphy says the late actress had “laryngitis and flu-like symptoms” at the time of her sudden death on Dec. 20 – but was not suffering from seizures, as has been reported.

In his first interview since his wife’s death, Simon Monjack tells People that many of the prescription medications found in their house at the time of Murphy’s death were for his own use.

Among the prescription medications reportedly on hand at the Los Angeles home were: Methylprednisolone, an anti-inflammatory, Fluoxetine, an antidepressant, Klonopin, a seizure medication, Carbamazepine, a medication to treat diabetes and also bipolar disorder, Ativan, an anxiety medication, and Vicoprofen, a pain killer.

Monjack, an oral cancer survivor, says he suffers from migraines and seizures as well as a heart condition. “I’ve had seizures,” he says. “We’re still trying to establish [why].” He says most of the medications in the Hollywood Hills home he shared with Murphy and her mother, Sharon, were for his own health issues.

He says Murphy used Vicoprofen to relieve pain from severe menstrual cramps.

“She was on an antibiotic and was taking cough medicine,” says Monjack, who believes her death was triggered by a congenital heart murmur. “No [medications] that could have possibly led to her heart attack.”

The actress’s mother, Sharon, told People that Murphy did not take drugs, and had a naturally “bubbly” personality. “She never even drank. Maybe a glass of champagne at New Years,” says Sharon. “But everyone used to say she was wasted, she was this, she was that. It was hard for anyone to imagine that somebody was so high on life.”

The results of the toxicology report to determine the cause of Murphy’s death are still pending.

Brittany Murphy Warned By Director About Simon Monjack

80319a1_murphy_b_b_gr_02

Factory Girl director George Hickenlooper and friend of Brittany Murphy said he warned the actress about her husband Simon Monjack and his alleged fraudulent behavior, the NY Daily News reports. George wrote in a Hollywood Elsewhere post, “The last thing I told Brittany is: ‘Do you know this guy? I mean do you really know him? Do you know what you are doing by marrying him?’”

“At this point, Brittany became angry and told me she knew Monjack better than anyone and then hung up on me,” he said in the post. “A few months later I tried to phone her to see if she was alright and Monjack would not let me speak to her.”

George went on to say that the British screenwriter’s IMBD credit for Factory Girl, a film George had considered Brittany for instead of Seinna Miller, is a complete lie.

“Simon Monjack had nothing to do with Factory Girl,” he wrote after Brittany’s death. “He filed a frivolous lawsuit against us. . . making bogus claims that we had stolen his script. He held us literally to hostage and we were forced to settle with him as he held our production over a barrel.”

He also said he had posted those allegations two years ago, but took them down from IMDB after Brittany begged him to.

Simon said he’s never even met George and refuted his claims.

“I wanted to make Factory Girl many years ago,” Simon told a British tabloid. “What is being said is not true. I guess everyone deals with their grief in a different way — his is expressing his anger.”

Brittany Murphy’s Husband Claims Being Victimized by Press

91117X1_MURPHY_B-GR_06

Brittany Murphy’s husband Simon Monjack has accused the media of publishing unfair stories about him following his wife’s tragic death – insisting the press is targeting him because he is not an attractive Hollywood star. Murphy passed away earlier this month, December 2009 after suffering a cardiac arrest at her Hollywood Hills home in Los Angeles.

Monjack is adamant many of the reports that have surfaced after Murphy’s death have been unfairly negative, with some publications detailing his past financial problems and calling him a “conman.” And the British screenwriter is convinced he is being victimized by the press because he doesn’t compare to his wife’s ex-boyfriend, actor Ashton Kutcher.

He tells Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper, “I know I have been called a conman. I am not perfect. I never said I was. But there has been so much rubbish written about me and Brittany. Most of what you read is made up. My problem is that I do not look like Ashton Kutcher… Nor do they like the fact that she married someone who was not famous. (In Hollywood), stars like stars to marry other stars.”

And Monjack has slammed reports which suggested his late wife was taking a dangerous cocktail of prescription drugs before her death, insisting most of the pill bottles which officials found in their home were old.

He adds, “I know what the inference is by all those pills. That she was some kind of addict, but addicts hide away their pills. They do not leave them on the nightstand like Brittany. Some of them were old and date back to when Brittany had some ailment or other. You know how people accumulate things and never throw them away.”
