Britney and Kevin’s custody battle finally over!

Britey Spears & Kevin Federline

The California court system can finally breathe a sigh of relief — one week after OK! exclusively revealed that Britney Spears and ex-husband Kevin Federline had finally reached an agreement over their prolonged custody battle for their two children, OK! has confirmed that the paperwork has been signed and the matter is Spears vs. Federline is officially over!

“Commissioner Gordon has signed off on the settlement,” K-Fed’s attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan tells OK! exclusively. “As of this moment, the matter is officially done.”

This announcement comes more than a week after Kaplan spoke exclusively to OK! to announce that he and Brit’s attorney Laura Wasser had worked out an agreement between the feuding spouses. Under the terms of the settlement, Kevin is to retain sole legal and physical custody of Sean Preston, 2, and 1-year-old Jayden James, while Britney will continue to have visitation rights which may increase over time.

The agreement was presented to the court on July 18, at which point commissioner Gordon had been expected to finalize the paperwork, finally putting an end to months of back-and-forth feuding.

An emergency hearing had been scheduled for 2pm PST on Friday, at which time a a spokesperson for the court told OK!, “There apparently is a settlement… We expect it delivered by one of the lawyers this afternoon.”

After Kaplan finally arrived around 3pm to deliver the final settlement agreement, he told reporters that his client is relieved at reaching this endpoint. “It’s a great relief [for Kevin] to have this two-year ordeal behind him,” he explained.

The few details of the settlement that have been released include the fee to be paid to Kaplan ($250,000) and the amount of child support to be paid to Kevin by Brit — $20,000/month, up $5,000 from the existing agreement.

When asked why Kevin, who could easily have asked for and received a larger sum of money, agreed to only a $5,000 increase, Kaplan said, “He’s trying to contribute as much [of his own money] as he can,” adding that for Kevin, “it’s never been about the money.”

Britney Spears to return to the VMAs?

Britney Spears

Britney Spears will have another chance to storm the MTV stage, after receiving a nomination for this year’s Video Music Awards.

The star has been nominated by network bosses in the category of Best Female Video for her hit single Piece of Me, competing alongside a list of music’s top female rockers. The full list of nominees in the category is scheduled for release on Friday.

The Toxic hitmaker has rocked audiences with a series of shocking performances at the outlandish awards show.

Five years ago, she wowed viewers when she locked lips with Madonna during a duet. And she made a disastrous comeback attempt at last year’s show, baring her belly and stumbling across the stage.

The MTV VMAs show is set to air in the U.S. on September 7th.

Britney Spears is desperate for a girlfriend

Britney Spears

Britney Spears is desperate for a girlfriend. Is she ready to join Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson in the lesbian relationship buzz? Even though Britney Spears once shoved her tongue in the mouth of Madonna on live television and is rumored to have had a few lesbian encounters she doesn’t want a girlfriend for lovemaking like Lindsay and Sam, she needs a friend, a new report claims.

“Britney is desperate for some female companionship,” a Spears family insider spilled this week in an interview with Life & Style. “She’s tired of being stuck in the house all the time and having her father tag along everywhere.” But who can Britney Spears really trust?

Earlier reports have claimed that Britney is also distancing herself from her father. But the article notes that the problem is that without her parents, Britney is basically all alone. “I can’t think of anyone who’s close to her,” says an insider. “I think Jamie saw what was happening to his daughter and went into this emergency lockdown mode, shutting out her friends. But that’s a lonely way to live.”

And it may even be a potentially harmful existence. “It’s unhealthy because one way people learn about their lives and decide to make changes for the better is to get outside input and perspective,” says Dr. Keith Ablow, a psychiatrist who does not treat Britney told the magazine. “A true friend could be a valued part of her life.”

Network Execs deny Britney Spears saved How I Met Your Mother

Britney Spears

Network executives for How I Met Your Mother have slammed reports Britney Spears’ guest role on their show saved it from being canned.

Spears was snubbed for her stint on the show earlier this month when she was left off the top 10 list of Emmy semifinalists in the Best Guest Actress in a Comedy Series category.

And though show ratings soared when the pop star played a ditzy secretary in two recent episodes, CBS bosses insist it wasn’t Spears who saved the show.

Network entertainment president Nina Tassler explains: “It (How I Met Your Mother) was never in danger; we just took a while to make the announcement (of its renewal).”

Chiefs at Spears’ record label JIVE were rumoured to be questioning her dedication to her comeback album when reports surfaced on Friday the Toxic star was more interested in focusing on her acting career.

CBS heads have not confirmed Spears will be making another return to the show.

Britney ends fight to win back custody!

Britney Spears

In a shocking new development, OK! has learned exclusively that Britney Spears has ended her battle to win back custody of her children, Sean Preston and Jayden James, from ex-husband Kevin Federline.

In an exclusive interview with OK!, Kevin’s attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan says both Britney and Kevin reached and signed off on a settlement in their custody case today.

Kaplan tells OK!, “At about 8 p.m. PT, a final settlement in the Kevin Federline-Britney Spears custody case was signed. All parties have agreed to the following: Kevin will retain sole legal and physical custody of Sean Preston and Jayden James. Britney will continue to have visitation rights which may increase over time. The agreement will be presented to the court in the morning for approval by the commissioner.”

Kaplan adds, “Kevin is ecstatic and the boys are thriving.”

Britney, who remains under the legal conservatorship of her father Jamie Spears, lost custody of her sons to Kevin last October. At the time she had visitation privileges but they were severely restricted following her January hospitalization for psychiatric evaluation.

She currently has monitored visitation with her sons two days a week and one overnight.

Britney’s final custody hearing is delayed

Britney Spears

Britney Spears, her mother Lynne Spears and legal friend Blair Berk were expected to attend the final hearing in Brit’s custody case on Tuesday before her five-day trial begins on August 25. But now OK! has confirmed that the hearing has been delayed until Friday.

The reason? Kevin Federline’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, says he needs the time to prepare.

“It was my idea to delay it for a day,” Kaplan told OK! on Monday. “But the next available day for Wasser and I was Friday, simple as that. I think I will know better what is needed to go to trial then, than I do now.”

Kaplan says the delay has nothing to do with any kind of settlement.

“It’s more for technical reasons in a complicated case like this,” he told OK!. The door is open if [Laura] Wasser and Blair Berk want to walk through it, but there is no delay because of an impending settlement.”

A previous mediation to settle Brit’s custody case failed, leaving K-Fed’s option for sole legal and physical custody of their two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, on the table.

Court insiders have speculated that the singer could request further mediation to avoid going to trial, and in the meantime may ask for more visitation.

Meanwhile, Kevin and his lawyers are moving full steam ahead in order to win permanent full custody.

“I’m preparing to go to trial until I don’t have a reason to go to trial,” Kaplan told OK! on Monday.
