‘Superman Returns‘ star Brandon Routh and his wife Courtney Ford (‘True Blood‘, ‘Parenthood‘) are expecting their first child together.  The couple, who married back in 2007, confirmed the news to People:

“It’s been so hard keeping the news to ourselves,” says Routh, 32, who’s currently filming the CBS pilot Partners.

“Everyone on set keeps asking, ‘Do you have kids?’ and I’ve had to say, ‘Well … not yet!’ It’s the truth. The baby hasn’t been born yet!”

Staying silent was tough on Ford — who just wrapped a six-episode arc on Parenthood as Lily – as well.   “It started getting difficult to hide what was happening,” the actress, 33, tells PEOPLE. “Flu and food poisoning excuses only work for so long, and by the last episode I could no longer button my pants! I just tried to joke that I had a big lunch!”

“Superman Returns” star Brandon Routh wed actress, Courtney Ford, Saturday at the 3,000-acre Santa Barbara-area El Capitan Ranch of movie producers Jon & Mindy Peters.

The 150 guests — including Superman costar Kate Bosworth & director Bryan Singer — watched as Routh, 28, & Ford, 29, recited their vows (which they wrote themselves), Entertainment Tonight reports.

At the reception — held in a nearby large white tent featuring silk brown tablecloths, bamboo chairs, candles & red rose petals on each table – Routh serenaded his new wife, according to ET. The food, catered by Frida of Beverly Hills, included a six-tier vanilla cake (adorned with red roses) & a donut machine.

I don’t know how I feel about him as Superman. I felt that way about Tobey Maguire as Spiderman, and he ended up being great. So I guess I should just wait and see.
