Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt “have proven once again that they are the leaders in original baby-naming, even by Hollywood standards,” baby name expert Pamela Redmond Satran, coauthor of Cool Names and The Baby Name Bible, tells Usmagazine.com.

The actress, 33, gave birth to twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline at the Fondation Lenval hospital in Nice, France on Saturday.

“Vivienne is the French version of the ancient Latin name that means ‘alive,’” Satran explains. A common English variation is Vivian, which was the name of Julia Roberts’ character in Pretty Woman.

Except for Rosie O’Donnell’s daughter Vivienne, the name “has not been on the fashion scope in the U.S.,” Satran adds.

Jolie and Pitt’s choice of Knox will boost its popularity among new parents, Satran predicts, “the same way they have with all their other children’s names.”

Knox – Pitt’s grandfather’s middle name – also “matches” big brothers Maddox and Pax as a name that ends in X, Satran points out.

As for middle names, Marcheline was the name of Jolie’s mother, who died of cancer last year, while Leon is Jolie’s great-great grandfather’s name.

Satran gives Jolie and Pitt credit for their name choices.

“I applaud Brad and Angelina for being truly creative in a way that many other parents – celebrities and the rest of us – claim they want to be but aren’t brave or individualistic enough to really achieve,” she says.

Angelina Jolie’s actor father Jon Voight has spoken of his joy at the birth of her twins, confessing he is “deeply happy” with the news.

The actress delivered her babies by Caesarian section at the Fondation Lenval hospital in France on Saturday.

The twins, named Vivienne Marcheline, after Jolie’s late mother Marcheline Bertrand, and Knox Leon, weighed 5 pounds and 5 pounds 3 ounces respectively.

Grandfather Voight, who recently made up with his superstar daughter after a six-year feud, can’t wait to receive the call inviting him to meet the newborn tots.

He tells The Insider, “I’m over the moon – it’s magnificent. In this world, all we can hope for is that mommy and the kids are healthy. I’m very excited. If I were called today, I’d be there.”

Earlier this year, Voight, who upset his daughter after telling reporters she had “severe emotional problems”, promised he would conduct their relationship privately, saying, “If we try to have any relationship in the future, we do it quietly”.

Angelina Jolie laughed with joy as her newborn twins were delivered and partner Brad Pitt cut their umbilical cords, according to reports.

The couple, who welcomed son Knox Leon and daughter Vivienne Marcheline on Saturday were together and “calm” during the delivery, with their doctor joking how Pitt “was my assistant.”

The actress delivered her twins by Caesarian section at the Fondation Lenval hospital in Nice, France, and there were “absolutely no problems” with the birth.

Jolie’s obstetrician, Dr Michael Sussman, tells People.com, “It was an epidural, so (Angelina) was awake and speaking and laughing. They were happy. He (Pitt) was … perfectly calm, totally determined, very pleased to be at the birth of his children, very moved and very emotional.”

And when asked how long Jolie was expected to stay in hospital for, he said, “I don’t know. She will stay for a few days. You know, in Europe it isn’t like in the United States, where the patients go home after three days. They will stay a bit longer until everything is okay. The babies are fine. The babies are with the mother and father and they are fine.”

The first pictures of the tots have reportedly been sold for $11 million to an as-yet-unnamed U.S. magazine. The couple intend to donate the money to charity.

Angelina Jolie has given birth to a son and daughter in Nice, France with partner Brad Pitt her side.

The actress delivered her twins by Caesarian section at the Fondation Lenval hospital on Saturday.

The twins, baby girl Vivienne Marcheline, after Jolie’s late mother Marcheline Bertrand, and baby boy Knox Leon, weighed 5 pounds and 5 pounds 3 ounces respectively.

Jolie’s obstetrician, Dr Michael Sussmann, is said to have told reporters the operation, which was slated for Tuesday, had to be moved forward “for medical reasons”.

Sussmann tells People.com, “The babies are doing well. The operation went just perfectly. Angelina is in very good spirits. Brad Pitt was at her side. He was there and all was well.”

He adds, “The mother and father are very, very happy.”

Jolie and actor partner Pitt are already parents to adopted children Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and biological daughter Shiloh, 2.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have officially been welcomed to Nice, France – where they’ll become parents again – by the city’s Mayor.

Heavily pregnant Jolie checked herself into Lenval hospital on Sunday and Mayor Christian Estrosi could not be happier that she and partner Pitt have chosen his city as the birthplace of their twins.

Insisting the new arrivals will always be considered honorary “Nicois”, Mayor Estrosi says, “(This is) a very great honor and a great satisfaction. We are very happy for this choice of Ms. Angelina Jolie and Mr. Brad Pitt and I want to say to them that I wish a lot of joy to them and the babies, and great success for all of their lives (sic).

“All their lives they will be Nicois and all their life they will be able to come to Nice and we will receive them with great honor.”

Brad Pitt has turned to his The Mexican co-star Julia Roberts for advice on raising twins.

The movie hunk is set to become a father again when partner Angelina Jolie delivers twins in France, and reports suggest he has reached out to the Pretty Woman star for some expert advice.

A source tells America’s the Globe, “Brad was all frantic about knowing if the rules for twins are different than raising or taking care of single babies. But Julia told him it’s the same – only twice as hard.”

Jolie checked into a Nice, France hospital on Monday where she will remain until she gives birth. Roberts gave birth to her twins, Phinnaeus and Hazel, three years ago.

A French magazine reported on its website Wednesday morning that Angelina Jolie has given birth to her twins. She and Brad Pitt have been holed up in the South of France since May, having recently moved into Chateau Miraval with their four kids.

Angelina has “reportedly” given birth before, with “Entertainment Tonight” claiming she did a month ago and refusing to back down. But, Brad Pitt has traveled a lot since, doubtful if he had two preemie twins at home, and In Touch has pictures of a still-pregnant Jolie last week.
