Bobby Brown denies Wednesday’s reports he had a mild heart attack, saying he is healthy and ready to begin his upcoming tour.
“None of it’s true,” the singer told the Associated Press Radio late Wednesday. “I don’t know where the heart attack thing came from – I’m just fine.”
Reports of the singer having suffered a mild heart attack were confirmed by his rep, Phaedra Parks. She told PEOPLE – just hours before the singer went on AP Radio – that Brown had been rushed to hospital with chest pains on Tuesday afternoon and was “recovering nicely.”
Parks told the media that her client was diagnosed as “suffering from a mild heart attack … they attributed to stress and diet.”
Contrary to this statement, Brown said the hospital visit was routine. “I did go to the hospital, to just get a checkup, get everything tested out so that I could go on this tour, and everything is fine,” Brown said. “The doc gave me a clean bill of health.”
He is scheduled to perform at the V100 Taste of Soul concert in Los Angeles over the weekend and kicks off his tour in Atlanta on Nov. 16.
The AP reports that Brown’s rep did not return calls and e-mails after Brown’s radio appearance.

Singer Bobby Brown was hospitalized with a mild heart attack but is in “great spirits” and hopes to perform this weekend, his rep said Wednesday.
“He’s recovering nicely,” rep Paedra Parks tells PEOPLE. “We thank everybody for their thoughts and prayers. We really appreciate the outpouring of support.”
Brown, 40, felt chest pains Tuesday afternoon and “was rushed to the hospital,” Parks says. By Wednesday morning, he was in “great spirits and has a great prognosis from his doctors.” He was expected to be released later in the day.
Brown, who had not experienced heart problems before, is scheduled to perform at the V100 Taste of Soul concert and festival in Los Angeles on Oct. 13 and still planned to take the stage.
“He’s a performer,” says Parks. “It’s what he does best.”
In addition to his new medical problem, Brown is in the midst of an ongoing divorce and custody proceeding with Whitney Houston, 44. The two are expected in an Orange County, Calif., court on Oct. 22.
Brown’s heart attack was first reported by TMZ.com.

It’s pretty much all over — including the crying — for Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown’s marriage.
An Orange County judge granted Houston a divorce yesterday, and sole custody of their 14-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina. In the ten-minute hearing, Judge Franz Miller ruled that the divorce would become final on April 24, and that Houston will have custody of the couple’s only child.
In court, Houston testified, as the AP reports, that Brown was an unreliable father. “If he says he’s going to come, sometimes he does. Usually he doesn’t,” she told the judge.
Houston wept as the decision was announced, and did not talk to reporters afterwards. Brown didn’t show up for the hearing. The couple has been married since 1992, and Houston filed for a legal separation last September. Brown’s attorney says he will seek to overturn the judge’s ruling.
