Beyonce wasn’t in any hurry to tie the knot to Jay-Z.
“I was 18 when we first met, 19 when we first started dating,” she says in the December/January issue of Seventeen (on newsstands Nov. 18).
“I really don’t believe that you will love the same thing when you’re 20 as you do at 30,” she adds. “So that was my rule: Before the age of 25, I would never get married.”
Beyonce, 27, continues: “I feel like you have to get to know yourself, know what you want, spend some time by yourself and be proud of who you are before you can share that with someone else.”
Jay-Z, 38, and Beyonce said “I Do” in a secret ceremony at his NYC apartment last April.
So what kind of advice does Jay-Z offer her?
“I guess probably that we’re all human,” she says. “I don’t care if you’re picture-perfect on every magazine cover, and you’re the most handsome, successful, coolest guy – you still get sad, and you still get your feelings hurt, and you still get confused and vulnerable and nervous and scared.
“You have to find a person you can make it through the tough times with,” she adds.
Beyonce – who named her new double album I Am…Sasha Fierce after her alter ego – admits she’s hard on herself despite Jay-Z’s words of encouragement.
“I feel like I’m my own competition,” she said. “I don’t try to compete with other people. I just try to better myself.”
Beyonce also studies videos of herself.
“I go and watch everything that I’ve done. I have my YouTube days, when I watch every performance, and I listen to my music, and I watch my videos to figure out what I need to do, what I need to fix, and how to become a better singer,” she says.

From Entertainment Weekly:
So Beyoncé wants to play Wonder Woman? Surprisingly, my first impulse was not to gnash my teeth over what a terrible idea this is, though I imagine lots of fanboys might have that reaction. But really, B has been training for ages to step into Lynda Carter’s boots and play the DC superheroine on screen. She already has played a scantily-clad action heroine; she’s long been an Amazon princess, and she already has a secret identity. Plus, Warner Bros. has been trying in vain for ages to make a Wonder Woman movie or at least a Justice League movie featuring Wonder Woman; maybe it’ll take a star with Beyoncé’s name recognition to get the movie greenlit.
Lasso of truth time: Who thinks Beyoncé can make this invisible plane fly? And who would rather deflect bullets with their wrists than watch a Wonder Woman movie starring Beyoncé?
Just kidding, it’s the trailer for Beyonce’s new movie, Cadillac Records, which looks an awful lot like Dreamgirls to me.
