Beyonce’s ‘Love On Top’ Video Debuts

Beyonce dropped her new music video today for her latest single “Love On Top”. The pregnant singer samples the 80s boy band ‘New Edition’s’ song “If It Isn’t Love” in both choreography and video setting.

Beyonce and company kick to the same dance moves that the group — fresh off the loss of Bobby Brown to a solo career — cut in ’88, and set the whole thing in a simple, bare walled dance studio, just as the R&B group did back during the tail end of the Reagan presidency.

Conspiracy theorists, enjoy this one: the star’s baby bump is much less apparent here, though that’s more than made up for by her awesome hat. There’s something about this song that brings out her sartorial best; remember, it was the first song she performed after announcing she was pregnant at the VMAs, and she was rocking a pretty fancy tux during that rendition.

Check out B’s new video above, and New Editions’ here.

What do you think? Love it or hate it?

Beyonce stepped out yesterday afternoon in NYC with a personal umbrella holder.

She’s got enough to carry, what with that fake baby bump. I kid, I kid.

Beyonce covers November’s Harper’s Bazaar

Beyonce is Harper Bazaar’s November cover girl. The photos, shot by Terry Richardson, are amazing! The pictures were taken before the big baby bump “reveal” on MTV’s VMA’s.

On revealing her bump at the VMAs: “I put a lot of thought into how I wanted to unveil it. It was important to me that I was able to do it myself… I was extremely nervous. It was the toughest red carpet I ever did. I didn’t want a crazy picture or gossip story to break the news… so I decided to say nothing and proudly show my baby bump. I felt it was more powerful to see the love and enthusiasm as opposed to saying anything.”

She’s working on a House of Dereon maternity line: “All I see now are clothes that are flattering on a pregnant woman… It’s been so exciting for me! I love figuring out designs that still make me feel edgy and sexy while pregnant. Flowy fabrics are always flattering… but I still rock my stilettos.”

Bey’s fashion inspirations: “I love Kate Moss. I think she has great style. And I always admire Victoria Beckham and Gisele [Bündchen]. Their style is modern but always classic.” Her longtime stylist Ty Hunter helps her put together ensembles even for her days off, and she and her team are considering hiring hot street-style photographer Tommy Ton to shoot behind the scenes. She’s also an online shopping junkie. “I spend too much money shopping on the Internet!” she moans.

Gwyneth speaks about their friendship: She and close friend Gwyneth Paltrow could probably talk fashion all day, but “our best times have been when we are just sitting around in sweatpants, having a glass of wine, chatting about life,” Paltrow says. “B is wise beyond her years. She has taught me the value of speaking your mind. She is clear and honest and true to herself while being respectful. She will be an incredible mother because she is so full of love and she knows who she is.” Beyoncé has already had plenty of practice with Paltrow’s children, Moses and Apple, and Solange’s son, Daniel Julez. “With my kids she is easy and fun,” Paltrow says. “They know that she is interested in them, and they can tell when a grown-up is faking.”

The timing of her pregnancy was thought out: “It was important to me that I gave myself time to focus on becoming the woman I want to be, building my empire, my relationship, and my self-worth, before I became a mother. Now God has blessed us with the ultimate.”

On Jay-Z: She and Jay-Z are a deeply committed and extremely private couple, just as happy grabbing pizza in Brooklyn as they are yachting around the Mediterranean. “We have been together since I was 20 years old,” she says. “We took our time and developed an unbreakable friendship before we got married. I admire his ability to inspire others. To me, Jay represents the American dream. Jay’s music has helped define our generation. All that he has overcome and worked to achieve gives millions hope that they can become whatever they want to be. I respect him so much; he is a great man and a great artist.”
In a rare moment of candor about their relationship, she continues: “We focused three years on our marriage and found that it brought us an even stronger bond and connection. But like anything great and successful in your life, marriage takes hard work and sacrifice. It has to be something both you and your husband deeply want. The best thing about marriage is the amount of growth you have because you can no longer hide from your fears and insecurities. There’s someone right there calling you out on your flaws and building you up when you need the support. If you are with the right person, it brings out the best version of you.”

She doesn’t care what people think: “I am finally at the stage in my life where I am not so concerned with other people’s opinions about my life decisions. It is so liberating to really know what I want, what truly makes me happy, what I will not tolerate. I have learned that it is no one else’s job to take care of me but me.”

Bey on art: “My mother has been an art collector and always taught me the value of art. She has encouraged me to invest in art since I can remember. The first artist I was truly inspired by was Vincent van Gogh. I was 17 and began doing my own paintings. I used to copy his style. When I was 20 I visited the Sistine chapel and saw Michelangelo’s work and it was one of the most spectacular experiences of my life. I then went on a tour around Europe and visited all the places Picasso and Matisse hung out. I then visited Art Basel and was exposed to all kind of contemporary artists. It got me into art that’s more abstract. Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring are two of my favorites but I appreciate so many contemporary artists. Art inspires me in so many ways. I use art as reference when I’m looking for inspiration for my performances, wardrobe or a video I might be working on. My husband and I collect all types of art from Basquiat and Warhol to Marilyn Minter.”

On FLOTUS: “She is an amazing person, inside and out. She inspires me to want to do more, to want to know more about the world and work harder to make a difference.”

Tweets are rolling in about Beyonce’s appearance last night, which shows what looks to be a fake baby bump collapse as she sits down.

Rumors have been swirling around since she revealed a big baby bump on the MTV Music Video Awards. Many suggest Beyonce will wear a prosthetic bump until a surrogate can carry her baby to term..

JUST IN! Beyonce’s new music video ‘Countdown’

What do you think of the song and video? Those of you who know me, know I’m not a huge Beyonce fan. I don’t know what it is – I just find her (and 80% of her songs) incredibly annoying. I found this video to be very annoying. It’s too all over the place for me.

Beyonce: “There’s nothing more empowering than pregnancy”

Beyonce showed up at the launch of her new fragrance, Pulse, last night in NYC. Several websites are buzzin about how her belly looks much smaller than it did when she announced her pregnancy live during the MTV VMA’s. Multiple sites feel that Beyonce padded her belly to make the announcement more exciting. I don’t know – I think in a dress like this it would be easy to hide her bump.

In a recent interview, Beyonce opens up about how magical being pregnant is – and more:

Pregnancy affected her sense of smell: “My nose, I smell everything from a mile away. Usually it is food, it is onions or something that I just can’t tolerate.”

On her fragrance: “I always meet strong, powerful women and they always have a signature scent,” the 30-year-old said. “That is one of the first things I was so proud of. I thought about Diamonds and Elizabeth Taylor and all these icons, so I am so proud of this.”

The scent is about empowerment: “I just enjoy being a woman and especially right now, I just feel so empowered. I think that is sort of my place in the world, for people to see that you can be an entrepreneur. You can have goals and dreams and you can grow and be strong and have your strong opinions, and all of these things bring that out in you.”

Pregnancy is empowering: “Absolutely. It is the most powerful creation for you to be able to have life growing inside of you. There is no bigger gift, nothing more empowering.”

What’s next for Bey: “Balance. I am still working on balance and still growing. I am starting my company, my label. I want to create a boy band. I want to continue to produce and do documentaries and music videos. I eventually want to start directing for other artists. Once I know that I have my stuff together and I trust that, I can do it for other artists. I see so many male artists building these empires and passing their knowledge on to other artists and development. I see myself doing the same thing and hopefully other younger artists when they grow up and they have been around for 15, 20 years, they can do the same thing.”

Motherhood advice: “I have the best examples around me because my sister is the most incredible mother. My mother, I am so proud of her. I see her and I could cry every time I think about her because she is such an incredible woman, so I just pray that I have the same bond with my children, child.”

Will the baby go everywhere with Beyonce? “Yes, I will probably be that way. I am sure I will. I think that it shouldn’t stop you. I think of course my life is going to change, and I definitely will make sacrifices, but you know, I think I will be able to bring hopefully my little rider with me.”

Pregnancy style: “I think I have been trying to find things that of course are flattering to the silhouette. I think a woman’s curves when she is pregnant are so beautiful. I don’t want to get matronly, and I still find things that are sensual and feminine and funky. I have been mixing different textures and suit jackets and blazers. I don’t want to be in the same dress every day.”
