As part of Universal’s 100 year celebrations, the studio is screening one of their hit movies, ‘Reality Bites‘ at Sundance!  Ben Stiller shared that he’s sort of dreading the experience:

“It’s just a bizarre experience. I haven’t watched the movie in a long, long time.  So it will be kind of interesting, but I am kind of dreading it too!”

‘Reality Bites‘ (released 18 years ago!!) was Ben’s first time in the director’s chair as well:

“On your first time out, you don’t know what you can’t do, so you have this sort of boldness because you don’t know any better.  I think we thought we knew what we were doing, but then as you get older you realize you really don’t know… you know less and less as you go along.  But that blind enthusiasm is sort of what gets you through the experience.  I just remember having a really good time.”

Ben also shared that Winona Ryder’s character wouldn’t have faced such a tough time if they tried to make the same movie today:

“It’s just a different generation in terms of access to media. And what Winona’s character is doing in the movie — in terms of trying to get her own show, [now] she could do her own show.  She could just do it. She could do her own show on YouTube and there’d be no excuses. So, it’s a really different time.

It was released EIGHTEEN years ago?  Gawd do I feel old now.

I’m sorry to say this movie doesn’t look appealing to me at all. All that talent, and it seems like such a waste. Maybe the movie is better than the trailer looks?

Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy lead an all-star cast in Tower Heist, a comedy caper about working stiffs who seek revenge on the Wall Street swindler who stiffed them. After the workers at a luxury Central Park condominium discover the penthouse billionaire has stolen their retirement, they plot the ultimate revenge: a heist to reclaim what he took from them.

Queens native Josh Kovacs (Stiller) has managed one of the most luxurious and well-secured residences in New York City for more than a decade. Under his watchful eye, nothing goes undetected. In the swankiest unit atop Josh’s building, Wall Street titan Arthur Shaw (Alan Alda) is under house arrest after being caught stealing two billion from his investors. The hardest hit among those he defrauded? The tower staffers whose pensions he was entrusted to manage.

With only days before Arthur gets away with the perfect crime, Josh’s crew turns to petty crook Slide (Murphy) to plan the nearly impossible…to steal what they are sure is hidden in Arthur’s guarded condo. Though amateurs, these rookie thieves know the building better than anyone. Turns out they’ve been casing the place for years, they just didn’t know it.

I love both these guys – hope the movie is good! This is Eddie Murphy’s first “grown-up” movie since 2006′s ‘Dreamgirls’. Since then he’s been in Shrek and other various childrens movies. I think he’s hilarious, so it’ll be nice to see him in something more like his ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ roles.

Seems like an odd movie for Matthew Broderick, no?

Ben Stiller wants people to know how much he cares about education. So much in fact that he’s willing to let people see Jennifer Aniston naked. But only for charity.

In a new video for his Ben Stiller Foundation, the “Zoolander” star pitches a number of other, more creative names for the education-focused charity, most of which fall flat (aside for his “Derek Zoolander Center For Kids Who Can’t Read Good And Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good,” of course). So, he decided to “enlist” his good friend Aniston into the project.

Whether or not that makes her happy is another story.

“It’s ten years later and most of it is set in Europe,” Ben Stiller told Empire magazine. “I don’t want to give away too much, but it’s basically Derek and Hansel ten years later – though the last movie ended on a happy note a lot of things have happened in the meantime.”

“Will Ferrell is written into the script and he’s expressed interest in doing it,” says Stiller. As for Lady Gaga, the entertainer appears to be welcomed if there aren’t any conflicts of scheduling. Lady Gaga and Will Ferrell were two celebrities that have been mentioned in the mix of Zoolander 2, both of which are considered possible according to Stiller.

The studios will currently decide what step is next. The backing of production needs to happen before the filming will start. Since the process takes a while, don’t expect to see Zoolander 2 until at least fall of 2012.
