Rumor Mill: Ashley Tisdale is dying of AIDS?

wenn5106067.jpg

Last week, High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale was sent reeling by a vicious and false internet rumor claiming she was dying from AIDS. In this week’s issue of Star — on newsstands now — Ashley’s mother talks about how her daughter is fighting back.

It all began on June 5 when blogs began picking up an unsourced “news story” that Ashley, 22, had been diagnosed with the HIV virus, possibly acquired from “contaminated equipment” used during her Nov. 30 nose job. And the hoax didn’t stop there. Soon, new reports claimed she’d developed AIDS and had only six months to live. Her rep soon shot down the story — telling Star it was “completely false” — but the damage was done and Ashley and her family are devastated.

“My daughter is healthy and just fine — but my husband and I just don’t know why anyone would spread such a rumor,” Ashley’s mom, Lisa Tisdale, 52, told Star at the family home in Toluca Lake, Calif. “And what really upsets me is that anyone can write anything, and it ends up on the Internet. It’s so irresponsible; so many people will just assume it’s a fact.”

Ashley Tisdale vows no more plastic surgery

<img src=”http://icydk.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/ashley_tisdale_filephoto.jpg” alt=”Ashley Tisdale” />

High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale is finding herself on the defensive again after rumors surfaced last week that she had more plastic surgery.

“People are saying I had another nose job and I did not. That’s ridiculous,” Tisdale tells People exclusively. “I was away in New Zealand filming a movie (They Came From Upstairs) and so people think I went away to have more work done. But I didn’t.”

Tisdale, 22, had a nose job in last November to correct a deviated septum and to smooth out two bumps from when she fractured her nose as a teen. The singer/actress was slammed by critics, saying that she didn’t have to change the look of her nose in order to fix her septum.

“[Tabloids] have doctors talk about what they think I did with my surgery, but they did not examine me,” Tisdale says. “They don’t know what I have inside my nose.”

“It’s very irresponsible for a medical professional to comment on someone whom they have not examined,” notes Tisdale’s rep, Scott Appel.

Rumors also recently surfaced that Tisdale, who is in Utah to film High School Musical 3 had a breast augmentation.

“Look at me,” she says, laughing. “Does it look like it to you? No! It’s ridiculous. I’m not for plastic surgery. I’m not going to get another surgery. I can promise you that.”

Ashley Tisdale & Miley Cyrus are Hollywood’s new power girls

Miley Cyrus

In the wake of the deaths of both Heath Ledger and Brad Renfro in the same week, a new generation of Hollywood’s power girls are speaking up. They’ve pledged that they will not wind up with the same tragic fate.

These young ladies tell Us they keep their heads on straight:

Says honoree Amanda Bynes, 21: “I don’t like to drink. I have definitely stayed out of the party scene. I’ve been offered to go to those parties, but I feel like I would be the one who would die if I did something.”

Of today’s out of control club-goers, she adds, “I don’t know how they think they’re gonna live forever.”

Echoes High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale, 22: “I don’t drink, and I don’t smoke. It’s a personal preference. My mom has never drunk or smoked. I look up to my mom.”

She tells Us she doesn’t get how her Hollywood counterparts can find time for clubbing.

“I don’t understand how people do it —I work non-stop! Then when I’m done working, I’m just so tired I just want to be home,” she says.

“Clubs are just not where I want to be photographed,” adds country singer Taylor Swift, 18.

She also says she realizes the impact her actions could have on her younger fans.

“For everything I do, I think about a 6-year-old girl and her mom that I saw at my concert last night,” she tells Us. “I think about what those two individuals would think if I were at a club last night.

“I never want to be arrested, and I never want to get a DUI,” Swift says. “Those are my moral values. I am an over-achiever, and I want to be known for the good things in my life.”

Childhood star-turned-teen queen Raven-Symone obeys a rule: “I like to be in by 1 or 2 a.m. because [you can get in more trouble] at night. Anytime really, but the night scares me sometimes.”

Miley Cyrus, 15 — Hollywood’s No. 1. power girl — offered this tip to today’s troubled young stars.

“The most important thing is really staying true to yourself,” she tells Us. “That’s what my mom taught me. She’s the most beautiful girl, not only on the outside but on the inside. She’s teaching me how to be a good person.”
