Pete Wentz was lying when he told fans he and new bride Ashlee Simpson were honeymooning in their basement earlier this week - the couple was actually holidaying in the Caribbean.

New photos show the pop couple frolicking in the surf of Turks and Caicos.

Wentz phoned in to Ryan Seacrest’s Los Angeles radio show on Tuesday to ‘reveal’ he and Simpson were lying low and recovering from their weekend wedding in their basement.

He said, “We’re in the basement on our honeymoon with these blow-up palm trees.”

Newlyweds Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson are ‘honeymooning’ in a secret basement location, in an effort to avoid the paparazzi.

The couple wed in Encino, California on Saturday and told friends and family they’d be heading off on vacation in a bid to “scramble” the media.

But instead, the couple is getting used to being Mr and Mrs. Wentz in Los Angeles.
Wentz reveals, “We’re in the basement of the house. We wanted everybody to think we were going on a honeymoon… We’ve got some blow-up palm trees down here… a little fake and bake tanning booth.

“It’s gonna look like we went on a private jet somewhere and we’re gonna save that $30,000. We’re eating DiGiorno’s pizza, getting into that tanning bed every once in a while, it’s great.”

Wentz and Simpson decided to try and fool everyone over their honeymoon when so many details of their wedding plans were leaked to the press.

The Fall Out Boy star says, “You can’t trust anyone; people were letting out all kinds of details - we had a plan that we wanted to do it in San Diego and it completely got out so we had to do it in the most secure place that we could do it.”

The bridesmaids at Ashlee Simpson’s weekend wedding in Encino, California were each given a 14-carat Dillon Rogers necklace as part of a gift bag from the bride and groom.

The jewelry featured a gold pendant with each girls’ initial, a wishbone design on a pearl disc and another gold ‘coin’ with Simpson’s lucky number three engraved on it.

The necklaces cost an estimated $650 each.

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz were married Saturday evening in an intimate ceremony, their spokesperson tells People exclusively.

“We’re delighted to confirm that Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson were married this evening in front of family and close friends,” said the spokesperson.

Simpson, 23, wore an ivory lace wedding gown by Monique Lhuillier accessorized with a diamond necklace and earrings by Neil Lane as she and Wentz, 28, exchanged vows in front of 150 guests at her parents’ Los Angeles area home.

Dad Joe Simpson performed the non-denominational ceremony, while sister Jessica served as maid of honor. Wentz’s English bulldog, Hemingway, was the ring-bearer. Guests included Jessica’s boyfriend, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, as well as actor Donald Faison with girlfriend CaCee Cobb.

Simpson told People on Friday that she was never the type to dream about her wedding when she was growing up, but changed her tune once she got engaged. “Now that I’m doing it, I definitely have that big dream. It kind of went more fairytale than I thought. I got really into it.” Added Wentz, “She has this amazing imagination and to watch it take place is an awesome thing.”

With the help of wedding planner Mindy Weiss, Simpson got her dream nuptials: The Alice in Wonderland themed reception featured a wedding cake by Sam Godfrey of Perfect Endings with a top hat, tea pot, stop watch and a pot of flowers on top. The elaborate centerpieces of black beauty roses were by Mark’s Garden. Guests were served Rose Veuve Clicquot champagne followed by a sit-down dinner and dancing to a deejay.

Simpson, who is pregnant with the couple’s first child, and Wentz, the bassist for Fall Out Boy, have been linked since the fall of 2006, when they were spotted kissing at a New York nightclub. They announced their engagement last month.

“He’s a cutie,” Simpson told People last year. “He has an awesome personality and kind of brings out the best of me and I knew that even before we were dating. There was just like an awesome connection we had.”

After they’d been dating almost a year, Wentz told People, “We’re past the honeymoon period. The truth is, it’s crazy to be able to kiss your best friend. It’s just a really awesome thing.”

This is the first marriage for both.

Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson may be done, but her dad still wants the quarterback to “support the family” at Ashlee’s weekend wedding.

“Joe has called Tony and asked him to come to show support for the wedding,” a source tells Usmagzine.com.

It’s unclear if Romo accepted Joe’s request, but he’s scheduled to fly into L.A. over the weekend.

Romo wasn’t present at a bachelor party Joe threw for Pete and a few of his pals at Mr. Chow’s on Thursday night. E! reports a steady supply of beer and wine was brought to their table. After the celebration, Joe picked up the $1,000 tab!

(Back at Ashlee’s parents’ Encino, California, home, Jessica and mom Tina threw a bachelorette party for Ashlee that E! reports was a “mellow affair.” About a dozen of Ashlee’s closest family members and friends attended the backyard event, decorated with balloons.)

Ashlee (who is pregnant) and her fiancé Pete Wentz are tying the knot on Saturday. Big white tents were being set up at her parents’ home on Thursday.

“Proper invites have not been sent out but instead guests have been given a save the date notice,” a source told Us.

The rehearsal dinner – described by the source as “an intimate affair” for “family and close friends only” – will take place on Friday.
