Rumors were circulating yesterday saying that Ashlee Simpson is pregnant by the Fall Out Boy rocker.

But, not so fast, she’s not pregnant, says Pete Wentz:

“There is a witch hunt for people to be pregnant whenever they get engaged in Hollywood. This is all news to me. I can’t wait for the story about how I’m really in a gay relationship and this is all just a cover… I mean, really, this is crazy. I mean we’re engaged, that’s true, and happy about it.”

Next time, we won’t believe it until we see the bump!

Ashlee Simpson is pregnant, a source confirmed to Usmagazine.com.

The singer, 23, is expecting her first child with fiancé Pete Wentz, 28.

Simpson and the Fall Out Boy frontman announced their engagement Wednesday.

“We are thrilled to confirm their engagement and congratulate this happy couple,” a spokesperson for the couple told Us. “Beyond that there is nothing to say.”

Simpson’s rep had no comment.

UPDATE: Pete Wentz denies that Ashlee is pregnant.

In an e-mail to MTV News, Wentz denied reports that surfaced Monday (April 14) on the Web sites of OK! magazine and Us Weekly that he and Simpson, 23, are expecting their first child.

“There is a witch hunt for people to be pregnant whenever they get engaged in Hollywood,” he wrote. “This is all news to me. I can’t wait for the story about how I’m really in a gay relationship and this is all just a cover. … I mean really, this is crazy. … I mean we’re engaged, that’s true, and happy about it.”

Asked again if he was denying reports that Simpson is pregnant, Wentz, 28, replied, “Yeah.”

Pete Wentz traditionally asked Ashlee Simpson’s father Joe for her hand in marriage.

The couple was on a trip to Colorado when the Fall Out Boy bassist, 28, asked Simpson – his girlfriend of almost two years – to marry him. But Simpson’s father Joe already knew about his plans to propose.

He tells People.com, “(Pete) did ask me. I told him that I would be honoured to have him as part of my family.”

Meanwhile, Simpson’s older sister Jessica has spoke about her happiness for the couple.

She says, “My sister is overflowing with joy. Pete is an incredible soul. They naturally bring out the best in each other. I couldn’t be happier.”

Ashlee Simpson has denied reports she has been banned from appearing on Saturday Night Live.

The star was left red-faced after she was caught lip-syncing during a performance on the show in 2004, but reports claim the singer was keen to make a return to the series to promote her new album Bittersweet World.

Sources tell the New York Post’s Page Six column Simpson was “a pain” during her time on Saturday Night Live – and that the show’s producers were reluctant to have her back. However, Simpson’s publicist insists she won’t be appearing on the show due to conflicting schedules. A representative for the star says, “We’re not doing SNL because they’re dark (not filming) the week we are here in April and there were no other opportunities later in the year.”
