THE Devil Wears Prada actress ANNE HATHAWAY has dished the dirt on some of Hollywood’s hunkiest leading men and how they like to kiss. And while she rates Becoming Jane co-star JAMES McAVOY as a true gent who never tries to slip the tongue – Anne reveals that JAKE GYLLENHAAL asked to touch her boobs in Brokeback Mountain.

She told radio station Heart: “Sometimes you work with actors, and they can be lovely guys, but they have kind of dodgy instincts when it comes to kissing in scenes. “They want to try to make it look a bit too real if you know what I mean. With James, right before we started he turned to me and said ‘closed mouths, no tongue’ and that’s what I normally say to people – so it was a pleasure.”

Anne then cheekily added: “There was this scene in Brokeback Mountain where I get my kit off and I’m in the car with Jake Gyllenhaal and he’s touched my shoulder and he’s touched my stomach and he’s touched around my back. Everywhere except for, you know, ‘the girls’. So the director yells cut and we go behind a screen and I’m putting my clothes back on and Jake comes up to me and says: ‘Annie, the thing is, the scene, in real life I would… and the director’s not yelling cut, so… can I?’ I just turned to him and said: ‘It’s okay Jake, yes, you can touch my boobs.‘”

Despite her sweet and down-to-earth image, Anne Hathaway says she has behaved badly in the past.

“You know, Lindsay [Lohan] and I have a lot more in common than people think,” she says in an interview with the UK’s The Sunday Times. “We’ve all done things we shouldn’t, it’s just I did stuff at college, when nobody knew about it, so I’m not a saint.”

The Devil Wears Prada actress says of Lohan, who entered rehab last month: “Lindsay’s a nice girl, I like her a lot, and she’s a great actor, but there’s a fascination about her lifestyle that distracts from her talents. I just hope she finds some comfort in the way she chooses to live.”

But according to Hathaway, 24, she went through her own hard-partying phase. “I wasted time doing self-destructive things but it didn’t work. I found out you can only dance on so many tabletops. I got that all out of my system and now I’m healthy and I’m grounded.

“I had to work through some s— in my personal life,” Hathaway explains. “I wasn’t ready to be a serious actress, with all that entails, because I still had a lot of questions about myself as a human being.”

Hathaway – who recently admitted she battled depression – dates her turnaround to three years ago, when she met her boyfriend, Italian property developer Raffaello Follieri, 27.

“He’s brought out so many positive attributes,” she says. “Before I met him, I wasted so much time. I was just annoying and narcissistic and smelled bad. He’s protective without being possessive, passionate without needing to show his temper.”

Anne Hathaway says she suffered from anxiety and depression in her teens, but that she rejected medication and instead worked through her troubles.

“I said to Mom the other day, ‘Do you remember that girl? She has now gone, gone to sleep. She has said her piece and she is gone,’ ” Hathaway, 24, tells Britain’s Tatler magazine. “But then I thought, ‘I so remember her, only she is no longer part of me.’ ”

She continues, “I am sorry she was hurting for so long. It’s all so negatively narcissistic to be so consumed with self.”

Next up, Hathaway will star as Jane Austen in the movie Becoming Jane. Why play the legendary author? Because of one of her idols, Emma Thompson. “I was having doubts,” she says. “But then I met Emma, who asked me what I was doing. I couldn’t tell her I was not going to play Jane Austen. So I just did it.”

Hathaway, who’s been dating real estate developer Raffaello Follieri, 27, for three years, lives in New York City – because she can’t live in Los Angeles. “I am too pale and I don’t drive,” she says.

Warner Bros. is close to setting Anne Hathaway to star alongside Steve Carell in “Get Smart,” the feature adaptation of Mel Brooks and Buck Henry’s sitcom creation. Peter Segal is directing. Shooting will begin in March. Village Roadshow is co-financing. Hathaway, who last starred in the summer sleeper “The Devil Wears Prada” and “Brokeback Mountain,” will play the role originated on the small screen by Barbara Feldon. Carell will play the Smart role originated by Don Adams. Carell, who most recently wrapped the Tom Shadyac-directed Universal comedy “Evan Almighty,” is currently starring for Disney in “Dan in Real Life.” He returns to his NBC sitcom “The Office” in January and once he wraps the season, reports for “Get Smart” in March.
