Anne Hathaway tells ET that she has much to be thankful for and has gained a lot of strength from friends “even in difficult moments.”
Hathaway, whose ex-boyfriend was arrested in June on charges of operating a fraudulent real estate scheme that he claimed was linked to the Vatican, said she has the greatest friends in the world and she trusts them with her privacy and to help her move forward in trying times.
“I have so much to be thankful for, even in difficult moments,” Hathaway said during an interview in conjunction with the debut of her film ‘Rachel Getting Married’ at the Toronto Film Festival. She also said she is lucky to have come from a family of strong women and that, “I have learned that I am one as well.”
Hathaway was with her ex-boyfriend Raffaello Follieri for several years. Follieri was charged in U.S. District Court in New York with conspiracy, wire fraud and money laundering in connection with the scheme, which allegedly duped investors into believing he had close connections with the Vatican allowing him to purchase unwanted U.S. properties owned by the Catholic Church.

Kate Hudson has fired back at reports she and Bride Wars co-star Anne Hathaway are caught up in a tense war of words after falling out on the set of the upcoming film.
The pair teamed up for the film earlier this year, playing best friends-turned worst enemies – and their on-camera issues became off-set problems when real-life mirrored fiction, according to reports.
A source tells Us Weekly magazine: “She (Hudson) was just awful to Anne… (but) she (Hathaway) never played into Kate’s cattiness.”
But a spokesperson for Hudson insists the reports are complete fiction, stating: “She and Anne have always been good girlfriends and remain food girlfriends. This is ridiculous and couldn’t be further from the truth.”

Anne Hathaway, 25, and actor Josh Lucas, 37, seemed to have more in common than politics when the two dined at Earls restaurant during the Democratic National Convention in Denver on Aug. 28. “They definitely looked like a couple,” a witness tells Life & Style. “They were really into each other, giggling and smiling and even holding hands at one point. You could almost taste their chemistry!”
In June, Anne split with her longtime boyfriend, financier (and accused con man) Raffaello Follieri. But she seems to be getting over that relationship just fine. “She looked beautiful and happy,” adds the witness at Earls. “Josh put his arm around her for a bit before they left.”
Anne and Josh were also connected at the hip on Aug. 26, when a slew of celebs turned out at a National Apartment Association event, where it was reported that at one point during an address by the association’s president, Doug Culkin, Anne and Josh disappeared together in the back.

Anne Hathaway is determined not to let her recent break-up with Raffaelo Follieri interfere with her campaign for presidential candidate Barack Obama.
The Get Smart star split from the Italian businessman in June, shortly before he was arrested on suspicion of unscrupulous business dealings. But, speaking at last week’s Democratic National Convention in Colorado, Hathaway insists she won’t allow the split to keep her from supporting Obama’s bid to take the White House.
She tells the New York Daily News, “My life didn’t begin when my relationship (with Raffaello) began. I come from a middle-class Democratic family. I’ve had strong ties with the Clintons since they were elected. The most important thing for me is getting a Democrat in the White House. I keep thinking about Michelle Obama’s speech… about our hopes and fears and not being afraid anymore.”

Anne Hathaway knows how to look old and haggard for a role – she gets drunk the night before filming.
The Devil Wears Prada star makes sure she goes into work hungover every time she needs to shoot scenes where her character looks worn out.
She says, “We were filming a take once where my character had aged. We had tried shooting a few scenes and we all still looked fairly young underneath all of our make-up. So we were just trying out ideas and I suggested, ‘What if we got drunk the night before and came in feeling hung over the next day? I think we would come in feeling a bit rough and maybe that would make us a little tired and have a little less energy so we look older.’ So we all did it and it worked. Now I swear by it.”
